The interior is nice and the ambience is inviting. The dog policy is great. I went with a group and got to try most of the beers that were on offer. I wasn’t impressed by the flavor of any of the beers that I tried. It would be great if they had the basic beer flavors(e.g., stout, blonde, etc.) to enjoy along with tasting the cavalcade of interestingly flavored varieties(e.g., Chai stout, peanut butter and jelly blonde, etc.). The base flavors were alright, but the added notes didnt fit with my pallette. I’d recommend checking the online tap menu before considering a visit.

I met one of the owner couples at another beer venue in town probably 6 months before Dark Sky opened. I was excited for them and excited to try it. I must admit my first few visits were just ok. I heard raving reviews about their first IPA which, unfortunately for me, sold out opening night so I never got to try it. From the beginning I’ve loved DSB’s inventiveness and willingness to go big or go home approach to flavor combinations and beer styles. However, they got a customer for life when they unleashed their jalapeño ale. OMG. it’s just so fantastic. They also came out with a smash hit with their Berry Rye(which is seasonal since it requires fresh berries). At this point, I was impressed enough to put my money where my(beer drinking) mouth was and became a mug club member. These guys are inventive and fun with their beer. They just recently came out with a peanut butter and jelly beer that’s my new favorite(although jalapeño ale is my perennial favorite). Other types they’ve had include Juicy fruit IPA, Bear jaw brown(a cherry porter), S’mores stout, lime in the coconut stout, plus many others I can’t remember names for. The other thing I love is that they are dog friendly. They are now the only brewery in downtown Flag where your dogs can come inside with you. If you’re looking for a downside, it might just be that you can’t find a blah IPA or standard stout. Or you might just fall in love with a beer you learn is seasonal or maybe just a one time brew. Still, those are chances I’m willing to take!

I can not say enough good things about this place. This is what craft beer is all about, just an awesome welcoming joint. We showed up an hour before closing and they legitimately seemed like they were happy to have us in to try their beers. I tried the Bloody Mary flavored beer(bloody hell I believe?), and as a major spicy Bloody Mary or Michelada fan this was 100% exactly what I hoped for. This is probably a top 5 beer that I’ve ever had. Also tried to go on the lighter side of the craft fair and tried the Carrot Cake beer, Which had a great flavor and holiday/cinnamon nutmeggy spice level, with a Wheaty smooth finish, I was also a big fan of this brew. Overall, We’ll will be back every time we’re in town, whether it’s for 1 pint or a couple, we’ll be back.

Finally! Flagstaff gets an aggressive bunch of brewers, intent on discovering all flavor combinations, without fear of not selling a million barrels. No more will our tastebuds be held ransom by the politics of distribution! Give us fresh, inventive beers, instead! Some flavors were a little heavy-handed, early on, but such is the path of exploration and perfecting the craft of REAL craft brewing. Lately, they’ve been banging out some bonafide home runs, on less than likely flavor combos. Forget what you know, stop flapping your gums and flexing your beer IQ, and enjoy this crazy ride! Like offroading for your taste buds! Plenty of homogeneous tourist beer in this town, so if you prefer the bland scenery of the highway, steer clear, and leave this backroad, beer wonderland for those that LOVE beer. WoooooWhooooooo!!!

We stumbled on this brewery while taking our dogs to see the snow from Phx. Sadly it wasn’t that cold in Flagg so no snow, but while walking downtown we passed a sign for DSB and it said«dog friendly». Well we had our two Shih Tzus with us so of course we walked in! While entering we were greeted by other dog lovers and has a seat at the bar. From reading past Unilocal reviews it did seem confusing on ordering. We weren’t immediately greater by the bartender so I got in a small line at the ordering station. While waiting in line my wife texted me and said that the bartender told her that we could have ordered from the bar instead of waiting in line. The bartender did apologize for our wait though. I ordered a 4 pour sampler for $ 10. Tried their IPA, hot chocolate, cherry Porter and stout. I thought the 4 were all good. They have a lot of their own beers on tap with some interesting names and flavors. I would have liked to try more next time. Overall nothing too special with DSB. It was super laid back, just beer and dog lovers hanging out. Something worth trying and adding to the brew scene in Flagstaff.

This place was beyond chill. When I saw dogs were allowed inside I was sold. Fantastic selection of beers. The Peelin’ Out Tangerine IPA was tasty and they did a solid job in their Porter. Staff and patrons were friendly. I’ll be back for sure.

Stopped in this neat place while visiting downtown Flag, Comfy seating and cool wood tables. Nice vibe to the place with neat artwork on the walls. Nice bar area with stools with a view of what’s happening behind the bar. Tried the sampler and enjoyed all the beers. Prickly Pear was my favorite. Also had a dark brew Smores that was really good too. They have some food available from an outside food truck. They have a good variety of beers and the menu changes with new flavors I was told. Great friendly staff. Pretty busy on a Thursday night. I hope to make it back here again!

Pretty cool place. Worth checking out. The beer didn’t blow me away but it was pretty good. I had a Flight of 8 beers. I liked all of them but when I was done with the flight, there wasn’t one I wanted more of.

Creative tasty brews at a relaxed friendly venue! The jalapeño pale ale is a tasty favorite of mine. I typically don’t like flavored beers but DSB pairs often local flavours that don’t overpower but instead compliment.

Dark Sky Brewery just didn’t do it for me. Their system for ordering kind of annoyed me. You are in line, with a lot of people behind you, at a counter. It doesn’t feel like you are ordering at a bar and there isn’t a server coming around. It felt a bit like ordering fast food and not like going to a brew pub. It made me feel rushed to order. I tried the sampler. 7 samples of beer for $ 18(before tax and tip) is very expensive. I believe this is the most I have paid for a flight of beer anywhere. The bigger issue was, I didn’t like the beer. The first beer I tried, the Double IPA– Freight Train, was the best for me, but nothing I would come back for, or order at another place. Three of the beers I didn’t like, I didn’t even want to finish the samples. The last two were drinkable but forgettable. This included the pecan pie beer, the description got me excited to try it, but it was a let down. On a Saturday night the place was completely full, so that is a plus. They do offer some food, but I didn’t try it. The art was nice; I enjoyed checking it out. I also love the name of this brewery, it was a nice choice. However, it was crowded, and uncomfortably warm inside. It was the only place in Flagstaff that I visited that wasn’t comfortably cool. Overall, I felt rushed, spent more than I wanted to, and I just didn’t like the beer, so this is one I am not recommending.

Awesome craft beer, awesome ambiance, awesome people and owners. I couldn’t ask for a better place to hang out as a Flagstaff local. People often mistake their brewing ingredients as «flavored» beers, when really — that’s not how brewing works. DSB is creative with ingredients and combinations with a new beer on tap to try every week. Their small batch brews run out about every 3 weeks, so it keeps me coming back often because any beer I like there might not be around next month and there’s aways something new to try. If you’re visiting Flagstaff from Phoenix, DSB encompasses the heart of what’s important in Flagstaff. Let Phoenix breweries do Phoenix, and leave DSB to do Flagstaff. Flagstaffarians enjoy the spice of life, which includes«jalepeno beers in the summer»(referring to another Unilocal review). The owners just went down to Oak Creek yesterday and handpicked a bunch of blackberries by the river for their next beer. What’s more seasonal and local than that? Keep doing it DSB! You rock!

I’m a big craft beer fan and always make it a point to support the local breweries when I travel. Dark Sky definitely has some interesting brews and the service is fantastic! I loved the Hi-Jalapeño, but I would recommend that as a seasonal in the winter time. A spicy beer in the middle of summer just doesn’t sound appealing. It was very hard to find a place to sit on a Friday night and the inside was incredibly stuffy and hot. The bartender did mention they were going to install a second story patio I’d be anxious to come back and see. If you have to go to the bathroom– go qucik, there is only two!

I fell in love with this place. The beer is delish. It is refreshing that a brewery can make creative less ABU beers without feeling the normal pressure of having to make 4 types of Pale Ales and IPAs all the time. My husband and I tried the ‘Hot Chocolate’, Plum Saison(my fav), and the American Berry Rye(my husbands favorite) The atmosphere is great. The counter tops sparkling like the night sky(great idea!). We loved this place so much, we took home and growler and a sweatshirt. Thanks DSB! We will be back.

Was really wanting to try this place and when we got the overall bar area is nice and it’s a cool place to hangout. I tried 2 beers and well they were awful. They need to get some better beer in there. So cool place but bad beer.

I like this place because they have a wide variety of beers and the place is welcoming and easy to hang out. The bartender was nice. The only brewery in flagstaff that didn’t charge for a sample of beer.

Great atmosphere, nice bartender. Came to get a beer to go as I commute past it every day, and unfortunately they specialize in flavored beers :(. The only beer brewed without fruit, coffee or jalapeño was sold out. I would go back if that changed(darts looked like good fun).

Came here with a group after hiking. Very inviting interior. The design was unique and comfortable, I love all the lighting. This added to the overall experience. Friendly staff. Awesome craft beer; I enjoyed interesting combinations, from jalapeño pale ale, to Serrano chocolate stout, the freight train DIPA. Something for everyone. I could see myself spending a lot of time here. Will definitely come back next time I’m in town.

Fantastic selection of unique beers. Great service and love the atmosphere. If you’re looking for an out of the norm microbrewery, this is definitely the place you need to visit! The«put the lime in the coconut porter» was delicious! The«you mango me crazy» was a more subtle yet tasty pale ale as well!
