I’m a serious lover of Mexican food and this place was AMAZING!!! The chile con queso was soooooooooooo good. It’s so cheesy and hot and I loved it. And the food was life changing. I mean I’ve eaten A LOT of Mexican food and it’s all good but this was just WOW! The salsas were good and the margaritas — YESSSSS! I am in love with this place. I live in LA but am honestly thinking about driving to Flagstaff monthly just for this restaurant.

Great service. Very personable waitress. Got the Fajita Malifico, it was huge and better than I expected. There is a salsa bar with several different types of house made salsa. Highly recommend.

Peach habenero carnitas, amazing guac. It took us a while to get seated, but once we did, the food and the service is fantastic. Skinny Minny margarita was so good and if you’re a guac fan, partake! Hubby and I both ordered the peach habenero carnitas(outstanding!!!) and probably could have split one entrée. Kids portions are surprisingly substantial. Salsa Brava is a solid choice in Flag!

Great food, fantastic atmosphere, best salsas in town. The carnitas are excellent, moist & flavorful. The chile rellenos are some of they best anywhere(Thursdays and Fridays only). You can tell that high quality authentic ingredients are used here. This is not your typical ‘smother everything in goopy cheap cheese’ type of Mexican food.

This was our second time eating here and it was awesome both times. I had the smoked chicken burrito which was excellent. I’d eat that once a week if I lived here. They so one their own meat and it comes out moist and delicious. Hubs got the Korean taco special which was also wonderful. 3 street sized shredded short rib tacos that had a good spicy bite to them. Add to that a good selection of salsas from the salsa bar and we were happy campers. One note: for folks coming here because Guy ate here from DDD — he ate fry bread. If you haven’t had this before just know it is heavy and greasy. Not the fault of the restaurant, that is just what fry bread is. It is not like a tortilla. If that doesn’t sound like something you like, no worries, there are tons of other options that an awesome, like what we had!

This is by far the most amazing Mexican food I haven’t ever eaten!!! The table side guacamole was so good I had to buy two orders! It is amazing. The peach habanero carnitas is beyond amazing! The best thing on the menu. The Maui tacos were crazy good too! You need to try this place!!! Jason our waiter was excellent!

Great Mexican food and great service! A must while in Flagstaff. The fresh table side guacamole was amazing, our table ordered a second round of it. Homemade tortilla chips were good and the salsa bar was full of a variety of good salsas as well. My favorite plates from our table were the Maui tacos and peach habanero caritas. The chimichanga blanco was good but not great. The chicken inside was great but I was expecting the blanco sauce to have more flavor. Very fast and knowledgable service. The only bad thing is that I live in California and won’t be able to come back every week!

We were looking for a place for our last night in Arizona that offered fry bread. This place had it and my husband and I split the fry bread taco, which was more than enough for two. The taco was just meh. We had a fry taco earlier in our trip which was authentic and so good. This disappointed us. I also got a sangria and it was awful, I drank because I paid for it, but it was hard to drink! Cool salsa bar, but they were bad or just okay to me. Definitely not that great of a place, but not awful. I wouldn’t go back though. At least service was fast.

Ordered the navajo taco. Portions were massive(couldnt finish or take to go). It was ok. The food lacks a lot of the flavor and authenticity(love) of other mexican food joints in the area. server was nice but on her phone and kept us waiting for the check. Not coming back.

Every time we are up in Flagstaff we stop here for amazing mexican food!!! They have a salsa bar and the pineapple habanero salsa is delicious! It’s sweet and spicy. I had the spinach enchiladas and they were superb. They were in a cream cheese sauce and my husband had the fish tacos and he is very picky and he loved them. Brooke S was our waitperson and she was so so busy but took great care of us. Give this place a try! You won’t be disappointed!

Great customer service, delicious food and a fair price! We enjoyed the house margaritas at a happy hour price, Navajo fry bread tacos and the chile con queso during our visit. The salsa bar was a fun touch, you could mix and match seven types of salsa to enjoy with your meals. They use Wisconsin cheese in their meals, too! I greatly enjoyed my visit!

The only good part of this experience was the present waiter! I awoke this morning with a nasty Mexican food hangover, a lump in my tummy, and extreme pressure on my bowls. The after taste still lingers as I rigorously scrub the experience out of my teeth… AGAIN. We had the fajitas. The meat was dry and accompanied my nine and a half pounds of onions and nothing else except a helping of sadness. The refried beans were bland with the consistency of chunky peanut butter and no jelly in site!!! Rice, Rice… oh where for out thy rice?! A fleeting love and great disappointment… I was left wanting more… more than a teaspoon and Dry, dry, dry… I simply wanted to cry! Fajita, a simple delicacy, destroyed by unkind hands and the madness of a dinner rush! Talent was simply absent behind closed doors as they rapidly manufactured food in attempt to turn tables quickly! Disappointment is one thing but food that leaves it’s victim in agony is a whole nother approach to gourmet dining! I heard this was Featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri! This was definitely a Dive that should never come up for air!

I came here off Route 66 and 4th Street with a few classmates after an exam, and we were definitely hungry and ready for something heavy and filling. It wasn’t busy at all when we arrived on a Monday afternoon at 1pm, so we were seated immediately. After sitting down, we received complimentary chips with 3 types of red, green, and spicy salsa with free refills. I thought both rounds of tortilla chips that we got were a little stale, but had the crispy crunch that I liked after biting into them. Our servers were attentive amd friendly, frequently refilling our waters as they walked around. I ordered from their rather cheap lunch special menu, which came out to just $ 8.75 minus tax for a plate with a chicken burrito, cheese enchilada with christmas sauce, rice, beans, and a small salad. It was smaller than I thought compared to the other plates my classmates ordered, but the food was still decently filling. The enchilada tasted okay, but I felt the christmas sauce could have been done better to enhance the flavor. The burrito was well done with tender shredded pieces of chicken. I enjoyed the sides of rice and refried beans, but nothing too special about it or the salad. Overall, the food was satisfactory, and I think I’d like to come again at least to try their drinks(margaritas) during happy hour.

First off, I want to say that the service here is great. This seems to be consistent with most reviews of the place. If the final rating was done on this factor alone, I would be awarding it higher stars. The hosts, servers, bussers, owner, etc. are amazing people and it is clear that they care about customer experiences. The owner is a philanthropic and uses his wealth for good. Props to him! Born and raised in Arizona, I definitely have my standards when it comes to authentic Mexican food. There is an art to the ratio of tasty and portions. There is nothing bad to say about the food here, but it is definitely not the tastiest. The burritos and enchiladas, two staples of Mexican food, falls a little below average compared to other places in the city and of Arizona. The salsa bar was the best part, but I’ve been to hole-in-the-wall joints in this state where the salsas were just as good and with more to choose from. This is a touristy spot because it was made popular through Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The prices are also above average, which again makes the overall ratio of the tastiness-to-portion plates less desirable.

Typically, the further you go away from the border, the quality of your Mexican Food options drops off exponentially. That is not the case for Salsa Brava! You could easily drop this restaurant in Phoenix or Tucson and it would hold its own. I’ve heard friends from the valley talk about Salsa Brava. It made a «Must Try» list in the local paper, despite being 2−½ hours north of here. And I finally saw the DDD episode where Guy stopped in. I feel foolish for passing by this place so many times over the years. First, the atmosphere of the rooms is really charming and colorful, but not in an over the top way. The service was very good, the food came out really quickly, and the salsa bar options were great! Not the usual kind of options you would see in other places. The salsas all have an extra kick and are worth the extra charge. My Tacos al Pastor with the mango salsa were spicy and delicious! My youngest son accompanied me for dinner. He is only 12 and not a foodie. But it was fun listening to him rave about his pork enchiladas. Then he began to wonder how long the restaurant had been around. I assured him it had been there a long time and that we would go back soon so it would continue to be around longer. Thanks Salsa Brava!

Red rice still as good as I remember, good chips and salsas(they have a salsa bar). I had the shrimp/lobster enchiladas again and they were as good as I remember, just for the price I would have wanted at least 3 rolled tortillas, and they were only 2 :( We also had the key lime pay and although it was good, it was not as good as I remembered it. Service was good.

Vacation 2014 saw us(parents and 2 young daughters) staying in Flagstaff for a few nights. Thanks to Diners, Drive-In’s and Dives, we found this place, Salsa Brava. My wife thinks I am strictly a burger and French fries kind of guy. This night I proved her wrong. As the menu reads, I had«Stuffed Sopapilla(What Guy Ate) — Traditional fry bread filled with pinto beans, mixed cheeses, and your choice of carne asada, smoked chicken, or roasted pork. Cooked golden brown and topped with your choice of green chili(hot) or enchilada style(mild).» I had the mild since I am a «burger and fries» kind of guy” was not sure how hot things would get. I added some green salsa verde, and suddenly I was a fan! My only advice would be to create a larger wait area, we were there on a Friday night, rainy, and the place was packed. The wait area was very crowded.
