Small but perfect little bookstore here on the isle. Its convenient and well stocked. I found all the books I wanted. Very professional and courteous staff. I’ll be a frequent shopper here.

I like this store! It’s refreshing to be able to shop locally for books on the island. The attendants are friendly. This store is no Barnes and Noble, and therefore quite small, but there is something endearing about it’s quaint shelves, all fully stocked.

Heather Leigh joined us on Amelia Island with other people from around the world who had a dream to open an independent bookstore. Now, her dream is a reality and Sweetwood Books, near Panera Bread, has opened its doors. It’s a beautiful little shop with a comfortable seating area, a small and curated selection of books, lovely gift items, and a large selection for children and teens. Now that indie bookstores are a boutique business, they offer panache for the communities that support them. If you’re in the Fleming Island or Orange Park area, please visit and support Sweetwood Books. Indie businesses help build the local economy and with bookstores, they support the local schools and add to the cultural life of the community. Enjoy your stay in this lovely bookstore! You’ll find plenty of good things to read and find quality gifts too.

I’ve lived in Fleming Island for 22 years and was pretty sure we’d never have a bookstore here. When I first saw signs going up at this location for a bookstore, I was thrilled. I accidently stumbled across an artist from Jax Beach tweeting about doing a mural for them and that was how I actually found their name and other info(apparently the banner they have up right now is temporary until they get their actual sign approved). They just opened today and I had to stop by on my way home from work. It’s pretty small(but if you’re familiar with the location, that won’t surprise you) but really nicely set up. Up front they have fiction and non-fiction sections(or «not fiction» as the cute sign reads) then sections for cooking, health, young adult, and kids. They also have some nice cards and cute gift items. They managed to make the small store look full without looking crowded. I didn’t look very closely at the teen or kids sections but in the adult sections they only had 1 copy of most books(understandably) but they had a pretty nice selection(I did hear a woman who I believe was the owner saying she just got the FIHS summer reading list and was going to order a bunch of copies of those books). The prices are what you’d expect for books at an actual bookstore. Can you get them cheaper at Target or Walmart? Probably but this is a locally owned bookstore and a nice one at that. I just hope the area is ready to support an independent bookstore like this. ETA: a couple things I forgot to mention. They have not one but two keurigs(one for coffee, one for tea) near the register. I think that is a really nice touch. They also have a a gorgeous mural(the one that actually led me to find details about their opening) on the back wall, be sure to check it out even if you’re not shopping in the kids section. There are some really nice paintings(which I believe may be available for purchase?) on the walls, too.
