Action Hyundai of Flemington

I came here in July to buy a Hyundai Accent. I had originally been thinking of going elsewhere because places in the Union area had much better True Car quotes, but Action Hyundai is 15 minutes from me, and they told me they had a price match guarantee, so I figured I’d support the local guys. Bad decision! They took my TrueCar quote from the other dealer, said they’d match it, then tacked on $ 1800 for their AutoKnight Protection Plan (nothing I wanted or needed). I said to take it off, but eventually agreed to pay $ 900 for it since they wouldn’t sell the car without it, and my car had been totaled so I needed something asap. I figured every dealership probably has add-​ons and this probably wasn’t worse than what I’d get somewhere else.
When a series of unfortunate events involving a fully loaded dump truck and a van failing to yield caused me to be in the market for another new car a month later, I went back to Action Hyundai to see if they’d give me the same deal. They accidentally let slip that the Protection Plan isn’t something they put on every car, but only something they do to pad TrueCar quotes. Hmmmm… I then spent a frustrating afternoon at the dealer where they were reluctant to give me a straight answer because I didn’t have everything in order to purchase the car that day (needed to work out some insurance issues first), but they did ultimately agree to give me the same price I had before, and let me know I should be able to get a refund on the Protection Plan payment I’d made on the other car.
Still frustrated with the add-​ons to the TrueCar quote, I decided to call Maxon Hyundai in Union where I had gotten the original TrueCar quote and see if they were as bad. Lo and behold, they honored the quote without any add ons AND gave me a better rebate that the manufacturer was offering. So I drove over to Maxon, had a pleasant quick purchase experience, and walked out the door with the same car that I’d been looking at in Flemington but for $ 1,200 less (plus awesome service like letting me drop off my rental car there and drive the new car home even though I wouldn’t have the check from the lender for a few more days).
Long story short… if I ever want to buy a new Hyundai or Mazda in the future, I’ll be making the drive over to Union and braving Route 22 rather than going back to Action Hyundai Flemington.

Buyer beware! I went to the Mazda side of this dealership and was given the run-​around in the finance office. Tried to rip me off on the offer that got me in the door in the first place! A few bad eggs there treat the customer like garbage and make buying a car a miserable experience. Never again

Honestly, i saw how horrible the reviews were at this dealership but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Boy do I regret it. I asked them to look at my Bluetooth buttons because they didn’t work sometimes. They of course said it worked fine, but as I pulled out of the dealership, I couldn’t answer the phone using the buttons on my steering wheel. When I went to pick up my car, everyone there was just sitting around with their feet up, doing nothing. And when one of the employees couldn’t find my keys, the other ones didn’t even get up to look they just sat their looking at me as if I was a nuisances. Then I went to my car and there was finger prints all over my hood, and all over the inside of my car. On the steering wheel, on buttons all over the car, and on the handles. So disappointed. Won’t be coming back.

Terrible Customer Service from Brianna, the manager of Flemington Hyundai in Flemington, NJ. She was unprofessional and unapologetic. Scheduled to have my car serviced on a Friday and was told it would be ready later in the day. Took the day off from work to get this done. Received three email reminders the day before about my appointment. Dropped it off at 8:30 am as I was told. Returned at 12:30 to retrieve my phone which I left in the car only to see that my car was still where I had left it at 8:30 am. When I inquired as to why my car wasn’t being worked on, the managers (Brianna) chimes in that it won’t get worked on today since they are short staffed. I told her I needed my car back that day since I was having it detailed in New Hope the next day.
Not once did she say she was sorry about the situation or offer up another solution. She came across as annoyed that I was unhappy with my situation. Her only comment was: «we gave you a loaner,» as if that excused her from being held accountable. I left with my car and won’t be returning. I’ll have my car fixed elsewhere. Never again. I am completely soured on the Hyundai brand the poor level of service they provide to their customers.

This is has been my worst Car purchase experience ever, the way in which the sales manager Nick treated when i was there at the dealership was intimidating and insulting. It seemed that manipulating the customer to make them feel they had no knowledge of any cars and humiliating their budget was the core motive of his approach.
The icing on top of all these is the fact that i purchased a Hyundai in 2013 and currently on lease with this dealership, i guess these are the benefits of being a loyal customer. Would not step a foot inside this place. Would give negative rating if possible.

They sell Mazdas here too… never ever ever going back. Spent a good deal of time looking, was left waiting at the salesman’s desk, and then he came back with an extra $ 1800 tacked onto the sticker price (not including tax and tags)…I countered with the mid-​lower end of the Kelly Blue Book value (I’ve done my homework) and he got mad and showed us the door. Rude rude rude. Someone obviously doesn’t know how to play hardball with a girl.

While we’re happy with the car we bought this dealer should be avoided. The salesman was a classic manipulator, with the «extras» pulled out at the end to add thousands to the asking price. You expect car dealers to do their utmost to cheat you but they took it to an extra level. I’m writing this review after several years of endless pestering mailings and phone calls that no amount of pleading or yelling can free me from. I will never buy a Hyundai again due to the customer service of this dealership despite being happy with the car.

I was looking to trade in my vehicle however I was not sure exactly what car I wanted yet. It was my first weekend shopping for cars. We went in there and spoke to one of the salesman. He did let us test drive the Tuscon. However when it came down to the numbers, he refused to talk to us bc I told him I wasn’t ready to buy that day and explained I had planned to look at other cars first since it was my first day looking. He actually told me to call when I’m ready to write a check!!! Then he had to nerve to call everyday and bombard me with messages whether I was ready to purchase a vehicle. Horrible customer service!!!

AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS!!!
I purchased a car from here in sept of 2014 and have only had problem after problem since purchasing it. It started with the actual purchase where the salesmen cunningly tricked me into buying the car without giving me a chance to negotiate the price. After I got the car (bought new) I saw it had some major scratches on it and there was a rattle in the shifter. It took 2 trips to the service department to have the shifter fixed because they couldn’t get it right the first time. The dealership outright refused to fix the scratches and after arguing with them on at least 5 separate occasions they finally agreed to do a shitty touch up job.
The staff is unresponsive and clearly could care less about the customer. This has by far been my worst car buying experience ever! To top this all off I have just realized that the salesmen directly lied to me about putting my name as the primary lien-​holder and now I know I am in for another fight as I try to get this sorted out.
Moral of the story… NEVER EVEN CONSIDER PURCHASING A CAR FROM HERE.

I bought my car through one of the online services. It was quoted below $ 30k. Not sure how they ran up the out of door price to over $ 36k. I was only able to calculate the true amount from outgoing payments from my bank account. They quite a slick bunch. If you’re not careful, they’ll pull the wool over your head. Bought other Hyundais’ from other dealerships. This is the worst one.

I went here to purchase a certified pre-​owned car with my granddaughter. The salesman was okay, the sales manager Manny was thorough and helped us through the process of keeping the monthly price where I wanted it to be by creative financing. Even when the bank did not approve the long terms, the agency reduced the price to fit the financing for us. Redmond, who is the financial manager, was friendly, courteous, helpful and followed up on everything. This is a family owned business and I appreciate that since I own a business myself. The oil changes for the life of the owner of the car were included which was a benefit. Not as good experience as I had at Route 10 Lexus, but still good…

The Worst!
Purchased a Hyundai Tuscan… was layed off shortly after and tried to go return the vehicle with the hyundai assurance plan.
After speaking with hyundai corporate they told me to take it to the dealer to be inspected. I did this (after waiting over an hour for it to be looked at, and the sales person/​who ever they were were extremely rude).
Called hyundai assurance # and they told me the dealer said i never came. This mixed with the worst service department i have ever used (this is my 4^th car) makes me give them a 1.
The car is great i love it, but the sales staff/​repair staff does not hold up to other dealers in the area in my mind.
Bottom Line: Hyundai’s are great this place is not.

Salesman initially seemed OK. Price was nothing to write home about even after he went back and forth to the manager (leaving us alone for 15 minutes on each occasion) a few times. Bad mouthed another dealer. So, we finally a pick car and get a price… then have to sit there 4 darn HOURS to PAY FOR IT. With CASH! Salesman promised us free pickup and delivery or a loaner when the car needed service, but when we called to schedule the 3750 mile first service, the service department said «We’ve NEVER done that.» The ONE bright spot seems to be the actual Service Manager who DID go out of his way to try and resolve this «discrepancy». I wouldn’t BUY another car here again… ADDENDUM: Since I started this review, I’ve taken the car for it’s first service. Initially, I’d planned to rate ONE star. but the service department earned them a second. The car was serviced promptly, and the people were courteous and professional. The waiting room is kind of cramped and crowded… bring a book.

Terrible experience. We walked in with a pre-​negotiated price through Consumer Reports thinking it would be an easy transaction on the car we wanted. Instead, we got the annoying run-​around typical of your worst car buying experience — being passed from one person to the other, lots of running back and forth to the manager, and of course they changed the price on us ($ 2,000 more!). They fed us bogus lines about installed options they couldn’t remove despite no written communication that the quote we received was not final. I’m pretty sure this is bordering on illegal selling tactics and at the very least it was sleazy. They lured us in with a low quote and additional incentives ($ 250 gas card or remote starter, etc.), but they took that away from us as soon as we said we didn’t want all the additional options they were trying to push on us. Totally annoying, untrustworthy, and sleazy sales team. DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE.
