I love Wasabi 31, the food is so good. The only issue is that it’s a little unorganized and dark, but honestly I don’t mind because the food is so tasty.

Best part of Wasabi31 is they are very generous with their sashimi portions. Other than that everything is average and a little on the pricey side. Decent if you want some quick teriyaki or sushi since there aren’t many options in the area.

Food is good and fairly priced. Service is slow and the owner was far from friendly. The last two times we went, we were the only customers, I hope the food turns over, seemed fresh. They do not take AMEX.

They appear to have read my review, and now the menus in the store have handwritten updates to prices. Still not sure the website has been updated though.

I like it. It’s your average Japanese restaurant. Food was what you’d expect it to be. I’ve only been here a few times and every time I go theres not a big crowd. Which is good and bad. Good because you can get your food quick. Bad because it’s super quite, I was whispering just so other people wouldn’t hear my conversation. Décor: Decent Service: Friendly The reason for the 3 stars. Would I go back, yes. Would I bring anyone here if I was trying to show them a good experience, no.

Not the most diverse menu but everything is as described. Service is hit or miss. Good place to bring friends and chat for a few hours. We generally go on Monday Tuesday or Wednesday for the reduced price chef’s rolls.

This was a pleasant little surprise tonight. Sushi wasn’t the plan but we stumbled upon this location thanks to Unilocal! The service was fast and attentive. The fresh sushi rolls were very good. We got the dragon rolls which had mango and eel. I wasn’t too sure I’d like them but Wasabi 31 made them very fresh and tasty. We also got the Wasabi #17. It has salmon, cream cheese and avocado. Wow it was different! It also had a tempura crust to it. Tasty but I need to try it again another night. For not being used to eating raw fish, I think I did very well. I’m used to the cooked or smoked rolls. We also had perfect edemame. It was served super hot and steamed with just the right amount of salt. This spot is definitely not in my neck of the woods, so I’m not sure I’d drive out of my way to come back– but the next time I’m in Flemington, I’ll know where to head if I’m jonesing for sushi!

I took my adult daughter here for lunch on a Saturday and she was very disappointed with the expensive sushi she ordered. I had shrimp teriyaki and was satisfied by the amount of shrimp and the way it was cooked. The sauce was okay. The onions weren’t just cooked, they were burned and hard. The place was practically empty so it’s hard to understand why the service was so slow. I like the décor, the location is kind of crappy on busy Rte 31. It just seemed to me it wouldn’t take a lot of effort to provide more attentive and timely service when the place is a ghost town. I felt like I waited forever to get a drink. And what is the excuse for serving burned food? I wish we had dined somewhere else, especially as our presence there seemed to intrude on the hostess’s other activity as she was deeply engaged with her hand-held whatever and couldn’t be bothered to move out of our way when we were leaving.

Best sushi in town and the nicest people. They have rolls specials on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday with fantastic roll choices for only $ 8. Staff is as sweet as can be

Called in order, told me 30 minutes, so as instructed came in 30 minutes, had to wait another 20 minutes. This is the real kicker they were completely empty except for three tables. Assuming they lost my order, never received any apologies, barely a thank you. Sushi was pretty lousy, messed up my daughters order so she was not happy. Seaweed salad didn’t taste fresh. Would not order again.

EDIT: I have had two pretty awful experiences here in the past. Then out of desperation one night on the way home from work I called to order two miso soups and two avocado salads. It was under $ 15, and absolutely delicious. The avocado salad literally had an entire avocado on it. I was very pleased. So, with that… I will try again, it is slowly redeeming itself as a food establishment I’d consider.

Best sushi in town, but the staff can be a bit rude.

We go here for quick sushi, especially for lunch. It’s pretty good. Sushi plates are decorated very creatively — don’t see that too often. It’s convenient and priced well. Service is very good. Definitely a place to try.

We are sushi lovers and are always looking for a new place. Flemington has an extremely good upscale sushi restaurant(Aikou), so we were looking for an alternative. As others have mentioned in the reviews, the two times we went there(once for eat-in, once for take-out) the place was entirely empty.(As a frame of reference, Tina Pizza next door was crowded both times). This does not make or break a place for us, but it does send up a red flag. I will say their fish is fresh. However, their rolls are loosely put together(another red flag). They have many tasty selections for sushi/maki, but their naming lacks imagination(Wasabi #1 — #8), and they are missing the flavors which make you crave and dream about your next experience. The last time we got take-out, the owner(manager) dropped our tray on the counter as he brought it out. He looked at it(did not show me), and indicated everything was fine. He unapologetically handed me the bagged order and failed to take off the coupon that I presented(he took it off, then added it back in). When I got it home, many of the rolls were smashed and came apart. I will say that if you want fresh fish and want it at an inexpensive price, this is your place. But for me, I’ll save up and go upscale next time.

This is my go to place in Flemington for sushi and«Japanese» food, but nothing to rave about. My sushi/maki taste is very ordinary(tuna roll, California roll, ebi, eel, yellowtail), so I can’t comment on the special fancy rolls that some people get fired up about. Otherwise the menu is pretty standard for places like this — teriyaki, tempura, udon, marinated seaweed — you get the idea. Atmosphere and service are pleasant. Food’s as good or better than similar places in the area, though I’ve had far better elsewhere. You need to travel to Somerville or Lambertville for meaningfully better and even farther(suburban Philly, North Jersey) for much better. That said, this is a good local option and a place you can bring kids.

Located in a small strip of stores, next to Tina’s Pizzeria and Just Subs, this unassuming Asian eatery is inexpensive and serve excellent food. They have an interesting assortment of Maki rolls above and beyond what is typically offered. My boyfriend loves the Seafood soup.

Got there late-ish(8:30 pm) on a Saturday night. Place was empty. Service was very attentive. Had the sushi for two; soup and salad were fine. Straight suhi was very good, but they had several specialty rolls that seemed to include a good bit of cream cheese in the roll– not my thing. So I would go back, but I would order off the a la carte menu to just get the traditional sushi items.

Loved it, dined there 2 nights back to back. Great value Sun-Wed, $ 6.95 for a huge selection of Chef Rolls, great service and quality. I will defintely be back when in the area.

They greet you right away on this day i got take out… and my greeter was so friendly and helpful as i had some questions. after I ordered she even offered me a large glass of water because it was so hot outside. 10 minutes later my take sushi arrived with a big smile… one word here great service and the sushi is outstanding…

Wasabi 31 is a cheap alternative to Aikou. We had a coupon and this made our Chef’s Special Rolls 6 bucks(only certain days). The Sushi was good for the price! My wife got Spicy Kani Salad and she liked the fact that it had Tempura on the bottom. She never had it this way before so it was a nice surprise! Also Wasabi 31 sports comfy Asian Décor inside. It would be an exciting place to go out for a nice romantic date, especially if your new to Sushi! Unfortunately I never wanted to go here in the past because it looked VERY chincy on the outside. I was mislead. Wasabi should recreate their external image, despite that I will go here again!
