I’ve been running in the crim for a few years, decided this spring to get serious and move on to triathlons, knowing I’d be running on tired legs I wanted some nice shoes to hopefully help me along. I’ll start by saying that as soon as I walked in the door I knew I was in good hands. After trying on multiple pairs of shoes I settled on a pair of Brooks. I’ve never been so confident in my running and I’ve really started to add miles to my routine. I can’t imagine buying my running shoes anywhere else. Easily a 5 star rating, without question.

This place is legit. Seriously, legit. First, this place is pricey for the area. With that said, a decent pair of running shoes IS pricey, so people really shouldn’t complain about that, but be warned if this is your first pair. Anyway, I live in New York and I was visiting my family. I figured I would save a few dollars by going here.(Which I did, because NYC tax is just stupid high and customer service is almost always abysmal.) Not only did I save money, but I was blown away from how hospitable the staff was. I’ve been to many stores, but this is hands down one of the best staffs I’ve worked with. I wish I could remember the name of the guy that helped me, but I can’t. He was a younger guy, went to the University of Michigan, Flint and had a girlfriend that was working in Japan.(This is for the owner’s reference if they pay attention to Unilocal.) Anyway, he took the time to go over some of my problems and let me try on a ridiculous amount of shoes. Also, let me try them on treadmill, especially since I was going out of town. They also let me know if I ran a few times before leaving, I could bring them back for a refund. In any case, the guy helped me find probably my most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever worn. I went for a couple of runs and didn’t have any of the problems I was having. Not only that, the other people that came in were helped super fast and they took time with a senior lady. They also knew the answers to so many random questions she asked. I could tell she also left very happy. I’m pumped to try them in the city, even though there are no really good places to run. I wish all stores had customer service this fantastic. Next time I’m need a pair of shoes, I’m waiting until I visit Michigan again, because this place is amazing.

I am not a runner. I do not look like a runner, walk like a runner or talk like a runner. You might get me to run a 1K race if began and ended at the Ghiradelli factory gift shop and the entry fee entitled you to a minimum 30% discount on all purchases. But the bride runs, as does the boy, and when I said I was looking to get a pair of running shoes to give it a try, the bride recommended The Complete Runner. I guess if you are serious about running, this is mecca and they have a variety of clothing and fitness gear even if running isn’t your thing. But if it is, these folks seem to know their stuff. A simple shoe purchase involved a gait analysis, traditional foot measurememts and a thermal impression device which allowed them to see my arch and weight distribution. The guy who took care of me, Joyraj(sorry if I got that wrong), was patient, non-judgemental, did a great job of asking about specific pain points when I walk or exercise and eventually had me try on 4 pairs of shoes before I settled on my new Hoka’s. I can see why the Bride likes this place; they definitely speak her language. And who knows, with some help from the folks here, I may soon do so as well!

I have only been here once, but it was awesome. They fitted me with awesome new running shoes, and made sure I had proper socks and showed me some of their running apparel that was on clearance. They have good sales and good prices, and are very helpful.
