DSW is a new addition to the Flint Township retail market, having opened up in the former location of Border’s Books and Music at the end of April. With that said, it’s a nice, albeit slightly overpriced, shoes and accessories store. The pros: An attractive store with a «brand new» vibe, tons of selection, a moderately decent array of popular/designer shoe labels, like Naturalizer, Ivanka Trump, Clarks, Etienne Aigner, Keds, Kenneth Cole, etc, the store is huge(it was home to Border’s for 15 years!), plenty of small women’s shoe sizes(and other odd sizes), they have a cute handbag and jewelry section that appears reasonably priced, and the salespeople are never out of earshot to ask them a question. The cons: Prices are kind of on the higher end of the scale, especially for a few labels(I can do better at the outlets at Birch Run), the lines tend to slow up if there are more than two people in line, some of the salespeople, while cheery and helpful, don’t yet know their stock well enough to help very much, and the clearance section in the back, which I was surprised to even see in a brand new store, is kind of a joke– at least it is right now. With some time, I expect those few kinks to work themselves out with little problem.
