Don’t let location fool you. These guys do it up here. And for a good value. 5 Stars from me. Never had even close to a bad meal. :-)

Come hungry if you want a great Bacon Cheeseburger. It was great!!! The chef at the grill(I think it was the owner) has quite the stories and quick wit. Just sitting back and listening was a great show! Next time I’m trying the breakfast menu items as they looked awesome!

Total find at lunchtime today: a hole-in-the-wall diner that seats only a handful of patrons, some at a countertop just behind the grill and a few tables out front. Excellent grilled chicken sandwich and fries that had been hand-cut just two steps from my seat. The skins of the potatoes flake off in the frier making crunchy bits I literally licked off the plate. Best of all, the owner(Tony) was there tending the grill and gave me the best service. I love small businesses with heart, and this ones got it in spades. Highly recommended!

Picked up where Zora’s left off. Unbelievable burgers and breakfasts. I try to stop in whenever I’m in Flint. Better than a Torch Burger.

I was in town for business and had some time to kill in the morning. Wanted to break away from hotel breakfast and saw this had 5 stars. Do not let your brain talk you out of going here. Great diner breakfast food all made right in front of you. The owner(I assume) runs the flat top and everything else while interacting with the diners. There were lots of regulars there having«what you made me yesterday», but we still felt right at home. Definitely a place I will go back to if I’m in the area again.

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat in Flint. No frills, good diner food & a great diner atmosphere. Coffee cup is always full and Tony is quick to get food in front you. Love this place!

Do not leave Flint without eating at Krystal Jo’s! This is a local dive kind of place, the exact kind that I hunt down in every town that I travel. Neighborhood is a little shady, but parking is plentiful right in front. The hamburger was exactly what I had been craving! Real beef cooked on a griddle. I started to add ketchup, but thankfully tasted it first. Nothing was needed. It was juicy and perfect without it. I enjoyed talking to the locals. The owner/cook was very friendly as were the other customers. There are healthier choices on the menu that looked good too. If I’m in the area again, I will definitely go back! Support small business — You wont be disappointed.

One of my favorite regular customers told me about this tiny little place… I am so glad we went to see why he liked it so much! It’s a tiny little joint that if you didn’t know about it you’d drive past. Food is awesome sauce!!! I can’t go on enough with how pleased we were. The place was full of regulars and it was fun to watch them interact with the owner and staff. I will eat here again and again, hoping to become a known regular! Keep up the good work!

Krystal Jo’s is reason enough for detouring into Flint, as we did. Insane burgers. Insane staff. This is our food. These are our people. Their Grilled Cheese Burger consists of a massive burger sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches. This is what we’re dealing with here.

This is a hole in the wall in every sense. I was worried, but when road-tripping, a greasy spoon is on the must-stop list. Don’t go here for the ambiance — you’ll be sitting mighty close to the locals and the regulars. The tables are small, but there’s a counter and no shortage of chatter there. The burgers are great. I had a BLT with an egg and it was amazing. The fries. Oh, the fries! Hand cut in front of you. Amazing, crisp, tasty! The service was fantastic. Super friendly, outgoing, ready to please type of people. Funny enough, they didn’t even know what Unilocal was, so everything you get here is genuine, 100% them. Sean was friendly, accommodating and welcomed us back anytime.

First, let me be honest… don’t go to this place for the ambiance. This is a tiny hole in the wall place that seats around 25 at the most. There were around 5 tables and the rest is sitting at the counter watching your food being cooked. If I had to classify this place as something, I would call it a divish diner if that makes sense. And let’s talk about the food… SOLIDBREAKFAST! I had the corned beef hash with the eggs over easy… perfect! Hubby had the ginormous breakfast WITH half an order of biscuits and gravy. There was a ton of food brought to the table, and everything was really good. If you are a coffee drinker, don’t expect to have your coffee topped off all the time if they are busy. Actually, a kind regular gentleman went behind the counter and grabbed the pot to fill up his table, and was nice enough to notice my cup at the edge and topped off mine. I assume for a coffee refill this is the norm. But since this was our first time here, I wasn’t comfortable just waltzing back there for a coffee refill. The total for all of our food(and again… it was a large amount) was around $ 22. Overall if we were back in town I can deal with the relaxed service for the quality food they are putting out.

For some the neighborhood will be considered a bug, for me it’s a feature. Close your eyes for a second and picture a local hole-in-the-wall diner and you won’t have missed the mark by much. Tons of regulars flowed in sparking up conversation with Chef Tony who managed to keep up the flow of conversation without missing a beat on some great, traditional diner fare. Worth pulling off the highway if your passing through.

Looks like a dive, really is a dive in actuality, but serves some of the best food ever. Best pancakes and their wrap sandwiches are delicious and the portions are big. Unfortunately, the are not really open all that late most days, and it would be nice if they were open longer. The atmosphere is total dive/diner.

This place is the best! It’s a teeny hole-in-the-wall in what appears to be a rather run down part of Flint, but inside its all about local flavor. The owner runs the grill and his food is always tasty and hot. At some point during our meal, he came over and asked us who the adventurous one was, and handed us a sample of onion rings made with red onion. DEE-lightful! Our pancakes were light and fluffy, the corned beef hash was home made and tasty, and may parents’ burgers were cooked perfectly. My Dad said Krystal Jo’s makes the best olive burger he’s ever had, and this is from a dude who LOVES them. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be back!

Wow, what an amazing diner! Don’t let the neighborhood scare you away from this gem!!! We all three had something different for breakfast. The steak skillet, homemade corned beef hash and the country omelette. All three were amazing. As good as the food was, the owners /servers /cooks were even better. I highly recommend Krystal Jo’s for anyone coming to or through Flint. I might come back here from PA just for breakfast again! Of course if you do go to Krystal Jo’s sit at the long diner bar so you can enjoy the humor and stories they share as well as getting to know the regulars and participate in the banter.

I stopped here on a whim. Starving while driving to the west side this place popped up on Unilocal, with good review so if thought I’d give it a shot. I opted for the pickle burger and onion rings. I so badly wanted the rings, but they were out of batter, argh. This is just a small diner, so I can’t blame them. Usually when a place sells out of something, my thoughts are it fresh, so sometimes supply falls short. Anyway, the pickle burger was really good, had a nice flavor. The special menu sounds really good and constantly changing, which I like. So make sure you ask about it. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Really really great. Went here for my first time yesterday for lunch and will have to return. I asked for a plain chicken breast and fries, which is not on the menu but they had I problem accommodating! Also ordered my boyfriend the BLT and onion rings. The phone process was quick and easy, if your not from Flint the location can be scary but you can park very close by, and when I walked in they made me feel very welcome. The guest in line told me how great it is, the two guys cooking joking around making conversation. Really nice welcoming atmosphere. When I returned home with the food, first glance at the onion rings Is what the heck? Then… You taste them and it is unlike any other. Just delicious with almost a honey taste! He loved the BLT, the chicken was great, and fries sooo good. I found my lunch gem!

Food was great. Off the beaten path but worth the find. Shane was an excellent waiter. I felt bad because I left and forgot to tip him. Of course I had to call and apologize for not tipping him. I spoke to his boss. And his boss took care of him. Thank you so much for breakfast. Hope to come back someday.

If I lived in the area, I’d be here every weekend. We always hit local diners on road trips, and this one is a keeper. Tony cooks from his behind-the-counter grill, keeping up the banter with his regulars at the counter, who all greeted us when we came in. Our baby was admired, our travel plans discussed, and our order taken. The coffee was hot and quickly served. Dietary restrictions? No problem. Tony makes it how you want it. He even realized my toast was going to my partner and plated it for him. Of course, the best service and ambience still needs to be backed up by its food. The Southern skillet got high marks for its fresh green peppers and«just really good» ham.(Partner dearest isn’t the wordsmith in the family.) My scramble featured perfectly grilled potatoes and a huge pile of tender-crisp broccoli. The portions were perfect: hardy, but not stupid big. We didn’t have the pancakes, but they were the subject of much discussion in the peanut gallery at the counter. Apparently, Tony will make them in any shape for you. *Any* shape. He sent us off with directions to see the world’s most-painted block of concrete on our way back to the highway. Now that’s service. So get thee to Krystal Jo’s. As for us, I’m plotting a lunch stop on our way back through Flint next week.
