First things first: the store is really big, much larger in terms of square footage than competing department stores at GVC like Macy’s and JcPenney. However, a good chunk of that footage is wasted by unorganized or poorly designed displays and scattered merchandise. I’m not gonna lie– this store could use some moderate cosmetic upgrades or even a major remodel of the entire interior and exterior façade as well. The exterior looks time worn and not that inviting. In fact, I think the exterior signage hasn’t been updated since the late 1980’s. The tool/hardware department is the most well-organized, but pretty much all of the women’s clothing sections are a bit haphazardly put together. At least they have great deals on tools, appliances and electronics– it’s their saving grace. Another thing– to compete with other department store giants, like Macy’s and JcPenney(located in the mall), they need to re-think their near non-existent cosmetics display area. They have no discernible, well-stocked cosmetic/beauty/perfume counters with higher end products like those in other stores. Macy’s has great cosmetic counters, JcPenney has Sephora, even Kohls has a decent cosmetics display. This store suffers from a lot of the same issues plaguing many Sears stores across the country– a confused identity, messy areas and many almost empty sales displays. It could be a good store again if someone put some real effort and a little cash into this location. Another thing that all Sears stores(not just this one) should do– get rid of that awful Kardashian Kollection crap– it’s cheap quality merchandise that just cheapens the store’s image.
