Amazing pizza !!! Went here for dinner and I ordered the pasta special and husband got a French dip and we weren’t very impressed … Was told their pizza is awesome so we gave it a second try for half off pizza Sunday and I’m SO glad we did !!! Some of the best pizza I’ve had in a while ! They are NOT skimpy with their cheese ! And their ranch is homemade which always makes a huge difference !!! Will definitely be returning !! Just had the remainder of the pizza, warmed up in microwave and it was still amazing :) glad to have found a place nearby that I’m impressed with !

Ended the night here after an evening of bar hopping down Court St. The lady behind the counter gave me free pop for being DD. She absolutely made my night, only wish I could remember her name. If you’re considering going here I would strongly urge you to do so. Great atmosphere, great staff, and it’s very cozy inside.

Had an early morning field trip w/about 30 kids out to Kettering University in Flint. After dropping off the extremely smart Robotics Team from Brighton High School, I decided to eat some breakfast & after driving around saw this small tavern & it served breakfast. Upon entering I was greeted by Rachel who was friendly & smiling. Who smiles @ 7:30 am on a Sat morning? Rachel does !! She brought a menu & I asked which was better, ham, sausage or bacon. She recommended the game & I am glad she did. I ordered hot tea, 2 poached eggs, Hash browns, rye toast and, of course, the ham. It was truly an excellent meal. The tea was served in a carafe the filled my coffee cup 3 times. FANTASTIC! I even had a chance to meet the owner Chris, who told me to just keep my bus parked in his lot as long as I needed, Way to many times, buses & semis are asked to leave as they take up way too much room We talked about the Flint water & he has already been proactive by installing a «state-of-the-art» filtering system. Good job, Chris, I am sure your regulars appreciate this Granted, this place isn’t fancy or classy but the regulars seems to love it & that’s what makes up a profitable bar. And each & every server was helpful, courteous & friendly. When the warm weather hits & we are again riding our cycles, I plan on heading back here to taste their mixed drinks. Hopefully, they will be as good as or better than the food & service.

Stopped in for dinner after picking up my daughter at Bishop. It was close to the airport and had decent reviews. We were a little worried by how run down the place looks. If not for the good reviews, we would have gone elsewhere. The stars are for the pizza, which took a long time to get to our table, but was worth the wait.

We ordered pizza and cheese sticks to go. We were pretty disappointed with the size of the medium pizza. Looked more like a small and it should have been larger for the price. Also, $ 1.50 per topping? That’s a little steep for such a small pizza. Now onto the taste… So delicious! Not the absolute best pizza I’ve every had, but definitely in the top 5. I really want to try their Stromboli sometime. The cheese sticks were delicious, too!

We had breakfast and I’m telling you what; portions were large and price point the was good. It’s not fancy, just good. Service was friendly and not hurried and the place was clean. At 11 am it had 20 or so patrons and owner was there talking to tables. I want to come back for dinner. It’s a bar so nothing crazy, just well prepared food and nice people.

For several years, beginning in the early 1990’s, I’d drive to Flint from Royal Oak every Tuesday night to play in a weekly trivia tournament held at another area bar. But I always closed out the night at the White Horse where I was invariably greeted with a friendly, «HI, TOM!» from bartender Maddy when I entered and a big smile from my favorite waitress, Laura. Great burgers, too! I’ll always have fond memories of the White Horse.

Great food, drinks and atmosphere. The white horse has been a flint institution since the 70’s. There is a dark quite pub feel with tons of interesting things to look at including 5 tv’s. Pizza is a must try and half off on Sundays.

Call me crazy, but tradition still matters in Flint. And the White Horse is the top of the list for making great pizza and serving solid lunches. Throw in a can of Miller Lite, and it’s a perfect 10.

A decent dive bar experience. They have some extremely cheap beer specials, a very average selection of beers on tap(fortunately, Killian’s is among those) and some seriously good pizza. They also serve a couple of pretty good homemade soups. Not a half-bad place for Happy Hour or lunch. The service is a little off, sketchy even, and you might wait awhile before they notice that you want something. It’s dark, the décor a tad dated and in a nutshell, it’s a dive, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It has a cozy, comfortable vibe going on, with old photos of the city adorning the walls everywhere you look. Some of the«regulars» tend to leer at people that they don’t know very well, which is a little off-putting, to say the least.

I seriously NEED to try the pizza. I came here for a birthday party later in the night so I had already eaten dinner. doh! I did end up getting a bowl of chicken rice soup but I was salivating watching my friends dressing up their slices of pizza with vinegar and parmesan cheese while they savored each and every bite. The atmosphere is cozy and dim, kind of like being in a cabin up north. I loved it :) I also loved watching the regulars sitting at the bar getting louder by the hour. This is truly an awesome place to hang out, catch a bite to eat, and shoot the shit.

We come in often for inexpensive drinks and half-off pizza on weekends. It’s a great place to meet friends and because it’s downtown pretty central for everyone from different parts of the county. We usually order a salad as a starter– I’m really fond of the white horse salad and the greek salad. Many of my friends are crazy about the waffle fries. Cocktails won’t be anything impressive, but the beer list is usually pretty solid.

Called today to see if they had the NFL football package, as the team I follow is out of state so not on TV this week. The lady who answered said ‘I don’t know, there are some guys watching football’. Well there a pretty big difference so no point in driving over if we don’t know if we can see the game. Try training your people on the basics guys. I wanted to love this place but not going to bother trying it out. My bar dollars going elsewhere.

Consistently great service and very good food. Probably the best pizza in Flint — and there are a lot of great pizza joints here. Pizzas and Strombolis are half price on the weekends. Awesome bartenders who have been here forever. Forget the rest this is the best.

On a recent trip through MI we ended up in Flint for dinner… It was a ghost town! Do they open on Sundays? Do they roll up the red carpets at 4PM after the early bird special? We drove around for a while until we finally found something that was open! The White Horse Tavern… It was obviously a dive, but we were hungry and the lot was full. That its typically a good sign, so we opted to check it out. One of my friend’s and I went for the Stromboli. We had about the same ingredients… Sausages, onions, mushrooms… He had the tomato sauce on the side and I asked for the garlic butter from another dish. We both we surprised at how great they were! The crust was crisp, yet chewy in right places. The cheese was gooey and held all the toppings together as we ate! The boy and I share a bowl of Chicken and Rice soup. You could tell it was homemade by the taste of the stock and the veggies. We both felt like it was really well made. The boy had a White Horse Burger with Bacon. He actually said that it was the best burger he’s ever had! It was cooked to his medium-rare preference and had just the simple toppings he asked for. No salad, just yum! Our other friend also had the soup as well as a Julienne Salad. It’s hard to mess up a salad, so it was pretty much just a salad. The reason for the 3 stars is based on the staff and the atmosphere. Our waitress had to be flagged down for EVERYTHING! We each had 1 drink because we gave up on trying to get her attention. The glasses had a film on them that had just built up over time from not being clean properly. The other tables seemed to be regulars and didn’t have as hard of a time getting attention. The place could really use a deep cleaning… The table and chairs were just… Sticky and smelly. The place was dark, sure, but the lights had a dank coating on them that could be cleaned off even. It smelled pretty nasty. I’m sure it’s an old linger from the smoking times, but that can be taken care of it you take care of the place!

If you need day care for your kid then get a job here. They allow their employees kids to run free through out the place

Most of the waitresses get edgy whenever you have a large party, even if you call ahead. Other than that… excellent food and drinks at decent prices. Casual and warm atmosphere.

This is a very cool little tavern. It is exactly what I think of when I hear«tavern» — a small, dimly lit, humble establishment that provides a miniature refuge from the world. They serve very good pizza here. That is primarily what I come for. They also have a good number of different beers on tap at any given time, which rotate out every so often. When«the boys» want to go out for a drink, it is always between Churchill’s and this place, and we prefer the Horse. Servers are friendly and even held my coat and food, which I forgot, for half an hour until I called and came to pick them up. Prices are reasonable. No bad experiences here so far. Nothing fancy, as intended.

I think the White Horse Tavern would have great potential, unfortunately they kind of blew it for a group of out of towners. We congregated here the morning after a wedding. They’d been warned there would be a group of us, about 30, but the breakfast took FOREVER! And the groom’s hash browns were still frozen! That’s just sloppy. We arrived at about 10:45am and were promptly served coffee. We ordered our breakfast and waited, and waited. The group was brought out food in three separate rounds. Of course my side was the last round of food. By the time we ate it was after noon!!! That’s and hour and a half for breakfast!!! I think we must have drank a pot of coffee a piece waiting. We were ready to cancel the breakfast and order lunch! I guess each round was the max of what the kitchen could cook. But brekafast doesn’t take long at all to cook so I’m not sure what was going on. When the food FINALLY arrived it was a mixed bag. My hash browns were undercooked but at least not frozen! My omelet was a bit plain but the French Toast was phenomenal! I’d definitely recommend the French Toast if you are in the mood for something sweet. I liked the décor, it definitely lends itself to drinking. Dark, both because of the lack of windows and because of the décor. They had a decent selection for beer including many local brews. A dive by all means but isn’t that what a good bar should be? Our server was apologetic and quick with the coffee refills. Its for these little things that The White Horse earns three stars instead of two.
