My dads been going here for 20 years, food was great. However not anymore the last few times I went the quality and taste just wasn’t the same. The samosas don’t have the same feel and taste and the green chutney is completely different. The last time I went I bought 12 samosas with green chutney. I wanted to buy more chutney but the lady behind the counter refused. She even left it open so the whole entire thing spilled in the bag. Th samosas were cold and were thrown in a plastic bag. If I’m paying for it than I don’t see what the problem is. Before that we waited in the front for 5 minutes while all of them were screaming in the back go get the customer. Honesty this place went from being amazing to downright ridiculous.

Bought some snacks thinking they would be fresh. Unfortunately they were stale. Brought it back for return. Instead of being sorry and courteous the owners started being very disrespectful… Absolutely one of the worst customer service ever. Will definitely never go back. Just a few blocks down there is a place called Usha food which had great service… Amazing food I would rather go there any day … If possible def. AVOID…

Best authentic south Indian/Gujarati food around. They have the best sweets, gathia, dokhla, samosas & puris. I can’t say enough about them. They are hard working but the quality of the food is so fresh and tasty!

This place has the best south Asian sweets I’ve had in NY. The milk cake sweet and the ras malai were excellent. We also got takeout samosa chat for $ 2:50, which was shockingly good – I would give THAT dish 5 stars. The place was really busy, and while people behind the counter weren’t that friendly, I was very pleased that the man helping us was nice, and gave my daughter a free sample of peetha – which she said was better than she had ever had in The Homeland. We will definitely go back.

Great place for Indian sweets and snacks, their kachora’s are delicious, as are the rasmulai, dhokla, and other milk cake which is to die for. Only reason they loose a star is that my Mom says when she goes in there isn’t a smiling face ever! Everyone behind the counter looks miserable and downright resentful. What’s up with that?! No one selling sweets should be doing it with bitterness… Thankgod I don’t have to see their faces or it would ruin the sweets for me… I happily wait in the car :)

This place is legit! I am from Mumbai, a snackers paradise, and I miss and crave my farsan fix. Usha has the best chana chor I have had in the US, the best papadi ghatia and very very decent bhel puri. And excellent khaman dhokla. Its also very inexpensive, totally comparable with farsan from an Indian grocery store but made fresh, not trucked in from Toronto or Mumbai. What other reviewers say about the ambiance is totally true. I was there on a blazing hot day, the door was wide open, the A/C over the door was leaking fluid over everyone and I swear was blowing hot air out. I felt right at home. The servers are older and hard of hearing, but they are sweet and give me free samples. Be patient when you visit, but its well worth the trip.

Food might be good… BABBAD Service. No phone manners and dont know how to to talk to customers. Part of it is that they think they have enough customers they think they dont need you. They say we take custom order or parcel it but when u call they dont even listen to you and start saying NONO before hanging up on you. We give about $ 350 business to them twice a year when we visit NY from Boston and go out of our way to buy stuff there. TOOBAD i am gonna try the one next door and see how they fare.

Usha Sweets & Snacks is the place to be if you are into Indian sweets, snacks and things that you never knew existed. They also have a great catering service which we have used in the past. Get used to the lines though because on a weekend Indians from the tri-state area frequent the shop to get their fill of gathias, puri, chana chor garam, jalebi, sakar para, kaju katri and the like. Some of the snacks do not phase me anymore because I’ve been having this since it opened. But to newcomers it’s like a vegetarian snackiing paradise. Careful if you’re vegan though a lot of the sweets do use Ghee.

I’ve never actually been here. In honor of Diwali, a coworker presented me with a box of laddu bearing the name and address of this fine establishment. I am enjoying the laddu so much that I find it worthy of a Unilocal, even if it means going to the great length of creating the entry from scratch. I’ve had laddu from several different bakeries including some homemade stuff fresh off the plane from India, and this stuff is up there!
