Great store, amazing clothes. Everything in the store was beautiful. Employees were kind and friendly. Located in a little town, there were nothing else worth to stop by in Florence except for this great store. Prices are high, but quality is pretty great. I think their outwears are definitely something worth it to splurge on.

The clothes at Billy Reid are undoubtedly gorgeous and well-made with the utmost care; however, I cannot give more than one star due to the lack of customer service and downright rude behavior that I had to experience. I had been looking forward to coming to the flagship store for some time, and after having seen a gorgeous dress in the window, I made it a point to get in as soon as possible. The signage on the door read that they were open and there was no doorbell and the door itself was not locked so I assumed that someone could just come in; after all, I had just seen an elderly man walk in. I walked in behind him, ready to get that dress, and maybe a lot more, and… was not greeted, was not made to feel welcome, was completely ignored save for the male clerk deigning to look in my direction. I found quite a few things I was interested in purchasing but I couldn’t find the dress I specifically came in for, not for lack of looking or hunting for it but as the two clerks couldn’t be bothered to talk to me or acknowledge my presence, I’ll be damned if I was going to beg them to help me. Then after a 20 minutes of being ignored, well, I’ll be damned if I was going to spend my money there. Perhaps it was a sense of them being the big man on the street, an honest-to-god DESIGNER from fashion and lifestyle magazines(Woo.) that made the clerks rude. Perhaps it was because I walked in in jeans. I don’t know. But what I do know is that when I left, and said, «Thank you,»(because I was raised right) on the way out, I once again got nothing more than a sneer and a dismissive waggle of fingers in my direction. Mr. Reid, you might educate your employees that jeans and a t-shirt do not equal poor. Your clothes may be lovely but your clerks are just mean. Just as you can’t judge a book by its cover, you can’t judge someone’s pocketbook by her shirt. Edited to add that after coming back in to give them another chance, the store was redeemed at least a little by a clerk named Amanda. She was very fun and kind.

I looove Billy Reid. The clothes are absolutely divine. The prices, especially during the recession, are a little high, but the quality and feel is unmatched. I do have to wonder, though, why Billy put his flagship store in… Florence, Alabama, of ALL places. In a college town where American Eagle and Target fashions grace the runway that is Court Street, and Ugg boots and oversized sorority sweatshirts rule(and simultaneously accost my eyes and sense of fashion), his flair, while unabashedly scrumptious, is underappreciated, to say the least. This is evident in one reviewer’s comment that Billy Reid items look like she«made them in High School Home Ec Class.» The staff are helpful if a little pretentious, but the atmosphere of the store is great. I really hope it sticks around.
