i went to barnes and noble to buy a copy of toni morrisons ‘beloved’ — the paper back copy there was 16 $ not counting tax. Too much for me. I called up Bookends and got a high qualtiy copy for $ 5. NO waiting for the mail, etc. They also have a buyback program which keeps the books in circulation.

This is everything a used bookstore should be. There are two floors of books – all beautifully selected, with excellent collections ranging from nature, science, and history to crafts, mysteries, and popular culture. The fiction and poetry sections are deep and well worth browsing, including foreign-language literature. There is a lovely collection of children’s books, the gardening books are outstanding, and there is a small assortment of «collectible» books. Prices are very reasonable. The owner is young, friendly, resourceful, and incredibly knowledgeable about books of all sorts; you can ask his advice, and he will show you a good selection of books on hand related to your interests. He will also locate and order either used or new books he doesn’t have in stock(including a discount on the new books). This is our favorite bookstore in Northampton and Florence. Our entire family buys books here and we send our guests here as well. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. If only all bookstores were this well run!

Top notch used bookshop. They buy(call ahead) and sell(with a great selection). This one has mid-range pricing but you can find really great stuff there and the staff are wonderful.

Nice independent used book store with a wide variety of genres and fairly good prices. Plus they have a bookstore cat who will sit with you if you stay and read for a while.

This is my favorite bookstore for used books in the area. By far. They have two stories to wade through, all quality stuff. Their fiction section upstairs is enormous and always has at least 5 books I hadn’t heard of but definitely need to buy. I have to limit myself. They have a small kid’s section in the back for the little ones. I try to pick something up for my son when we go, and have always found at least 1 board book for him. The books are used, but every one I’ve bought has been great quality. I pay usually between $ 5-$ 10 for a good sized paperback. Not the cheapest, but fantastic quality and selection, so you get what you pay for I guess. They also rent videos for $ 1 and you can buy old VHS if that’s your thing. I haven’t spent too much time downstairs, but it’s a really huge space compared to what it looks like outside. Definitely worth a stop in. There’s even a cute cat who lives here!
