My husband and I went in to eat on a Saturday about 30 minutes before closing. We sat ourselves and immediately other customers said hi and struck up conversation. The waitresses were very nice, the place seemed clean enough. We ordered the fried bologna, home fries, eggs, biscuits and gravy. Our food came out very quickly and was quite good. The gravy isn’t homemade but better than most restaurant gravy. The portions are slightly small besides the biscuits and gravy which was a lot. Really no major complaints. We’ll definitely be returning. One thing I will mention is that they really need to get with the times and accept credit cards. They only accept cash and luckily we had some on us that day, but normally we don’t carry cash. The owner, Cookie, did come out to greet us which was very nice I thought.

The reviews listed here are accurate. We are strangers but were treated SUPER nice by all staff and ownership. «Cookie» herself had to stop by and ask our names and chat. Nothing special about the lunch sandwich choices. We tried the salad bar that was bland and five feet from the smoking tables. Locals fill the place. Usually a full parking lot means awesome food, but in this case it must be something else. I can’t figure it out. It’s like living in an episode of the Twilight Zone. We actually had fun.

I have to write this post not having tried the food. We were excited to finally try this cute little dinner near our house. It always seems busy on weekends so we thought it couldn’t be terrible. It was so busy we had to park in mud which was ok with us. We opened the door and were blasted by a breeze of cigarette air. We didn’t even walk in. I am all for personal freedoms, we all know at this point how bad smoking is for us and can all make our own decisions. But smoker or not, if adinner has been saturated in nicotine smoke for years and years, you have to know the food is bathed in it. Who wants to eat that? Apparently a lot of smokers.

Oh so special, is Cookies Diner. It’s a small little place and they love new faces. I would recommend the Cookie Burger, or the special, especially if it’s turkey dinner, or meatloaf. Cookie’s makes the best home cooked, southern comfort food around. The woman who owns the place isn’t named Cookie, but she’s as sweet as one! She likes to greet everyone and make sure you are satisfied. The prices are great and you don’t typically have to wait very long for your food. Parking, plenty. Service, more than adequate. Food, down right delicious. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the smoking. It’s Kentucky, which is kind of lame. The smoking part– I love KY.

I have recently moved to the area and I am finally starting to find my way around the blue grass state. Growing up in a rural area myself I really longed for a small diner with a local feel. I had passed this place by many times and noticed the parking lot always had several cars in the parking lot(a solid tell of something being done right. The place appears to be a house surrounded by a large gravel parking lot. While walking I had no idea to what I was going to to encounter. As I opened the door I could hear laughter and noticed the place was filled with regulars who have been sitting in the restaurant for hours. The décor is pretty basic — open dining room with tables(no counter). The dining room set up is more about function than appearances. If I guessed I believe it is a multipurpse room(noticed an Avon station and a guitar stand) The waitress introduced herself and knew I was not from around area since the place is not on the beaten path. She introduced to me to Cookie the owner. Cookie and the waitress were super warm and made em feel at home. The food is pretty basic with Breakfast and Sandwiches. They serve the entire menu while they are open. I brought my appetite and decided on their big breakfast(Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, Eggs, Sausage, Home Fries with onions and peppers). The food was cooked perfectly. The cost is anywhere between $ 4 – 7. The breakfast above would have cost me $ 11 at Bob Evans. If you want a super friendly atmosphere and great breakfast food — this is it. It is a great find and I will be back to suppot a local business. Please note this restaurant has smoking and non smoking sections. I am removing a star but still like the place.
