The wife and I hired Jimmy to do some smallmouth fishing on Lake Wilson near Florence, Alabama. This is the lake that holds the Alabama state record for smallmouth. We had a great experience with Jimmy. We caught some live bait and then fished the current from the dam down toward the power lines. He was a good guide and put us on to some good fish. We caught smallmouths, drum, and even a decent catfish. Wasn’t the best day on the water, but that’s why they call it fishing and not catching. Since I live in Georgia and don’t have alot of opportunities to catch smallmouth, I was stoked to have a B.A.S.S. Elite angler take us out on his home waters. There wasn’t much to it, bump a live yellowtail on the bottom and float down from the dam, but I felt like Jimmy was giving us the best opportunity to catch a good one. The wife of course caught the big fish of the day, but I had fun. Everybody knows that a 3 or 4 pound smallmouth can fight like an 8 pound largemouth, that’s what makes it fun. The chance to catch a 5 – 7 pounder is out there, with a bigger fish not unlikely. Jimmy was easy going, friendly, and a top notch guide. Thanks for a great trip.
