Kabuto Akitas

I got an Akita from Melissa almost ten years ago, after a lot of research online on how to avoid breeders who care little for their dogs and found Melissa to be the one I felt comfortable trusting, despite meeting breeders near me, and having only communicated by email and phone with her. She still keeps in touch and asks after his health, and has always responded to questions about his care. If you love dogs and do not wish to help people who treat them like objects, then a breeder who loves dogs is something that is a must. And Melissa meets that criteria.

You could not find a more knowledgeable Akita breeder. Melissa helped us every step of the way, through our choosing a puppy (puppies in our case), to sending pictures daily of the pups development, commentaries on their personalities which would prove so helpful down the road, to answering any and all questions continuously as they grow and go through different stages. She will be your friend and Akita encyclopedia for life.
We’ve met many other Akita owners through Melissa, which is a lot of fun and you end up feeling like a big family.
We have an older Akita that we bought from someone else and the experience is night and day. We love our old guy, but had to learn about Akitas completely on our own with him. Though we now are experienced Akita parents, we don’t know it all and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve called, texted or emailed with a question.
