Great, great, great!!! Best hot Italian sub ever! Toasted fantastic bread and wonderful ingredients with lovely dressing! The other reviews of this sandwich are right on. Pizzas are great. they make them so you can bake at home as well. Generous portions of veggies, meats on both pizzas and salads. Neat people who stay very busy at lunch time. Don’t know why someone said no delivery but with minimum order they have always delivered. Great place!

Love this place. Great food for a great price. The Italian subs are awesome, and the salads are fantastic! There is only a booth or two, this is mostly a take out place. Pizza is okay, but the real stars are the salads and subs!

The best hot Italian sub anywhere. We drove 150 miles just to eat lunch here. And will do it again.

I coworker of mine raved about Pizza Chef and we’ve talked for several months about ordering it. Finally, we had the chance… he calls, well they only deliver to Florence addresses. WTC, we’re less than 5 miles away. Oh well, with our hearts set on it he decides to just go pick it up. His number one recommendation is the Hot Italian Sub so we get one of those to split and a Ciao Bella pizza. The Ciao Bella comes with tomatoes and a blend of herbs, mozzarella, and your choice of tomato based sauce or the olive oil based Italian dressing. We got the tomato based sauce. The tomatoes were fresh and perfectly sweet. The cheese wasn’t super melty and the sauce not overwhelmingly present in the overall flavor profile but all in all it was a good pizza. Good pizza, but the Hot Italian sandwich wins hands down. Let’s start with the delicious bread. It’s somewhere between focaccia and a pillowy pizza crust. It holds up well to the sandwich components and isn’t overshadowed by the other ingredients. The ham, pepperoni, salami-all good. Hot peppers-nice touch. But the real star of this sandwich in my opinion is the Italian dressing. They’ve got to be making this liquid gold in house because I’ve tasted no Italian dressing like it. It was a little tangy and full of herbs. The oil base of the dressing seeped into the bread creating a total Italian experience. MMmm mm mm. The reason it’s on my Top 100 Dishes to Try list: Hot Italian Sub The BEST Italian style sub I’ve ever had.

The best pizza and subs in town. Hands down. Hand tossed pizzas(white & sauced) and they make the bread for the subs as well.

The best toasted sub in the state. A large is generally 6.29 or so. Definitely worth the money. I recommend the Hot Italian or Turkey Sub, my 2 favorites.

Best subs in the Shoals. Pizza Chef is one of those cheap looking places in a rundown, sketchy strip mall that has been an eyesore for so long that people have become numb to its existence. But don’t let this outer blemish impede you from stopping by. That would be most unwise. I am listening to the LOTR soundtrack as I write this, so I am feeling sentimental and a bit coaxing to get you to come here in an epic way. This review is solely based on the subs. I have had no experience with their pizza, though there is a rad motorbike, like something from Jurassic Park II — complete with a delivery crate mounted on the back like a dinosaur cage, parked outside. If I was ordering pizza I would definitely want that thing roaring up into my front yard with a pipping hot pizza. Back to the subs. I usually get their Italian subs, which is loaded with garden things and meats and oil and stuff. –salami, pepperoni, and ham –onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pesto, and olive oil The bread has the taste and texture of homemade rising bread. Very, very good. I have never seen this in a sub bun before. I’m not so certain they make the bread, I’m dubious, but nonetheless it is great bread. And poor bread can ruin a subs chances of repeat consumption. I will no doubt be repeating consumption of this sub. A small(6 in) is $ 4.50. I’m not sure of the large’s price(though it’s the one I get), but I would buy it 10 times out of 10 over a Quizno’s or Subway boring sub. Check this place out. They need the business(there’s never anyone there). And they deserve the business for being awesome.
