I tried Genghis Grill for the first time, and I’m a fan. I like the concept, and I liked that this locations seemed nice and clean. The server took his time to explain the process to us, which was helpful. In the meat bar, they were out of the beef/steak tips, which was the main thing I was wanting. So I loaded up on some regular beef and chicken. The beef came out like large chunks of hamburger patty, which is probably what knocked them down a star for me. I was hoping it would be a little more chopped up and not all clumped together in a patty form. The chicken tasted great though! I think we will try this place again and test out some of the other options they had.

This place is really cool! I had never been to Genghis Grill before, and the staff was helpful about showing me how to build my stir fry. My only turn off about this restaurant is seeing the raw meat(especially gloppy chicken) at the meat bar, but I understand that it has to be this way in order for customers to have complete customization. The food is wonderful, though! How could it not be? I created it. That’s the coolest element about Genghis Grill, and I’ve brought several people back to try it.

The new manager is great, he is very kind and willing to go the extra mile for his customers. Our favorite place to eat in Flowood…

I initially liked this place more until I sat at the bar and saw the bartender dig an orange seed out of a drink with her bare hand and then send the drink to the table. This was also a drink that didn’t have any kind of orange ingredients. She told me that random things fall into the ice and they end up in the drinks, sometimes. Gross… that’s a food safety violation. I do not trust the food safety of this place anymore. If anything, steer clear of the bar since that’s at least my main concern.

The food’s ok. The ultimate stir-fry customization is kinda nice. Décor and atmosphere are nice. Clean restaurant. I think the food prices are too high for its quality and portion.

Fun little«build your own adventure». Has good seating, tv’s for games, full bar. It’s a good place to eat. If you have a horrible meal it’s on you. You walk in, get seated, then order the basics. You go through a buffet style and pick your meats, veggies, and sauces, then they grill it up. I went a little heavy the spices but it was fantastic. Wait staff here was very friendly and very awesome. Our waitress was cute as hell too.

I’ve known about Genghis Grill since forever but I never ventured to one until the other day. Now usually the words rice and vegetables can get my mojo going, so I didn’t mind trying something different… So I’m with my sister and I follow her lead as I had no idea what to do and she’s been there a bunch of times before. We go to the bar to place a togo order and it took a few minutes for the server to come over and wait on us. He brings the cards that we fill out and indicate what type of starch we want, we both chose steamed rice. We order the large which is around 15 $. We pay and receive our metal bowls we put our ingredients into. Now cue the ominous music in the background… I ask the server what sauces are vegetarian friendly… He’s not really sure and says that they’re MSG free as I mentioned some sauces are made with chicken stock… i’m like ooookaaaay… But he said he would ask the manager. Now my sister was watching the guy talk to the manager or supervisor and she said that the manager started laughing… Which to me meant no one had a clue what was in the sauces and would not be helpful… The server comes back non-the-wiser and says the red sauces should be fine and even recommends the red curry sauce… So i’m like thanks I’ll check it out… Poor guy, he was like a deer caught in headlights dealing with me… I should’ve just ran him over… Anyway we go through the ingredient line… my sister gets her protein and we walk to the vegetables… I get a little of this a little of that as I am apprehensive about the whole experience, but I’m a trooper. We get to the sauces and on the labels they indicate the allergens that are in them such as soy, gluten, shellfish… But nothing indicating vegetarian, which is no big deal, no one can tell me what’s veggie friendly anyway… I opt out on getting a sauce. But the red curry sauce the server recommended… had shellfish mentioned on it’s label meaning it contains some form of meat product… Very helpful the staff…(and that’s sarcasm by the way) Anyway we give our ingredients to the cooks and my sister mentions to the guy to please keep my food away from meat… He says no problem and we go sit back at the bar and wait on our food. I receive my food first and it’s cooked well. The server gives us plastic bags and soy sauce and we’re out the door after my sister gets her food. I’m sure he was glad I was leaving. Overall the food was fine… The rice was steamed a bit more than I like it(I’ve gotten use to eating way too much steamed jasmine rice at home), but it was okay. The vegetables were cooked fine, I know next time not to include celery as it wasn’t cooked enough for me. While eating I did investigate the nutritional chart on their website and found an ingredient list for the sauces… too bad no one had anything like that at the restaurant to inform me what sauces are vegetarian…(which I’m sure they do but no one bothered to look) Anyway… It was a decent experience and I would not mind going back, but perhaps I’ll check out the ones closer to me in Atlanta. I read other reviews and tips and I have to agree on the greasy slippery floors… as well as the tight set up where I found myself having to squeeze pass servers and other patrons. Other than that, there’s plenty of parking depending if everyone isn’t out shopping in full force. It’s a cool place but this visit will have to be a 2 from me… Hopefully the staff can become a bit more informed about what’s in the food they’re serving and not look like deer… caught in headlights…

This review makes me sad to write because I love Ghengis Grill so much. I have been to this restaurant probably 5 – 6 times with no issues whatsoever. Clean, friendly, quick service. All with great food. Today, however, was a different case. When we walked in the door it took about 5 min for anyone to even acknowledge our presence. Only one side of the meat/veggie bar was open and it was extremely crowded this afternoon, so it took forever to stand in line and get our food picked out. Once our food was on the grill being cooked, it took probably 30 min for us to get our food. My boyfriend’s bowl was brought out first and then mine never came. Even though our waitress was holding another bowl in her hand when she handed him his bowl. We waited some more and nothing ever happened. We noticed some bowls sitting on the counter by the grill that were clearly ready to be delivered to tables. He decided to get up and see if any of them were mine, and one was. And it was just sitting there out in the open for who knows how long. I felt like the problems that happened today were caused because the place was understaffed. All of the workers looked flustered and a little panicked. All in all, this was a very disappointing experience at an otherwise great place to eat. Hope someone sees this and makes some changes because I would love to keep eating here!

I absolutely LOVE this place! It’s different and I love different! You get to basically all make your own dish except you’re not cooking it! My first time going I was really confused but after the waiter explained to us a couple if times I got the drift of it! Food is great because you can choose your own protein, veggies and spices! I would recommend this to anyone! I gave it 4 stars because it’s different and great food! I took one star off because if the seating arrangements, it’s a little snugged!

TRYTHECHICKENPOTSTICKERS! My family loves them !! It’s basically what other restaurants call steam dumplings! I enjoyed Genghis Grill! Im a big meat eater so i enjoy stacking my proteins and cilantro and egg on the side! to be safe i always do a spoonful of the spices no more than like ¾ and keep the Sauce cup with me so that i can add more or less flavor to the meal after the cooks take it off the grill. The bathrooms are in a horrible spot so they usually STINK so I try to go before I enter the restaurant! Besides that its good

This is different. You fill your own bowl with uncooked foods and take it to the chef to be prepared. It was a little overwhelming at first. We told our waitress it was our first time so she comes to the food bar and explains everything in detail. Very helpful. My wife and I very much enjoyed eating here. Anxious to go back and prepare my bowl differently.

Have you ever wanted to feel like herded sheep while you prepare your meal? Have you ever wanted to pay large sums of money so that you could prepare and spice your own meal, only then to have a line cook destroy your preparation by over cooking everything? Do you like menus with giant, attractive pictures of entrees, only to be given a tiny metal bowl to prepare your own meal? Well if that sounds good to you, then you must try the Genghis Grill. You too can enjoy the novelty of shoving as much meat as you can fit into a tiny metal bowl, while trying to also balance your bowl of vegetables and noodles. This was about the most disappointing meal experience I’ve had in a long time. I was expected to know how much of each exotic spice was required for my dish. Yes, because I’m a great chef; that’s why I’m eating out. I erred on the side of too much spice, but still my bowl of noodles was served as a starchy vat of insipid, over-cooked, noodles and meat. It was a water-logged, scorched travesty. None of the food from my table was worth eating. Even worse, when the waitress saw that we were all obviously displeased, she asked us if everything was alright. My wife and I immediately chimed in that the food was over-cooked and horrible, to which the waitress simply gave a perky, teenager-embarrassed smile and walked away. Simply horrible food; way over priced; very poor ambiance.

This is a really cool place, interesting format as well. If your food order is messed up in this place, then it’s your own fault, as you make it yourself :) You pick anything you want from a nice variety of items on a regular buffet style bar, then turn it all in to the cooks. It’s neat to watch them prepare the food as well, as the cooking area is open to the dining room. The service is nice, the food is really good, a nice change-up from regular dining, a great 1st date kind of place… but in my opinion, this place has one pretty big flaw: The AWFUL dining room. Maybe it’s just this particular location, but the seating arrangement and such is simply terrible. They have the tables seemingly very close together, and with high walls setup everywhere to create sections and aisles. I honestly have no idea how they passed inspection with the Fire Marshall, as it’s very diffcult to move around. Why would you really want to move around in a restaurant, you may ask? You HAVE to move around here, as the buffet bar where you pick out all your food items is in the back… so you HAVE to navigate back there. And when I say«navigate», I mean NAVIGATE… weaving in and out of traffic, tables, chairs, etc. I think it’s the tall walls they have setup that cause the seating issues and make it feel so cramped, but who in their right mind thought this was a great way to design the dining room? If someone, bless their heart, needs a high-chair for a small child, it makes it even worse… for the person needing to use the high-chair, and the people that need to get around them on the way to the food area. And a handicapped person, using a wheelchair? Yea, I’d like to see that attempted… definately no wheelchair friendly. It’s kind of hard to explain, but once you go and experience dining here, you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. One other note: as with nearly every restaurant, there seems to always be a table or area that the employees gather to discuss scheduling, restaurant politics, joke around, etc. At this restaurant the bar area seems to be that area. The bar area is nice, but rather small and cramped, and seems to be worse because the employees and yes, the manager, seem to congregate here, and take up a table or two in the process. So if you sit there, be prepared to have employees coming and going, and loitering all around you. If the seating and ease of dining was better, I’d probably give it 5 stars, as the food is that good… but yes, the seating and navigation to the food area is bad enough, in my opinion, to deduct 2 stars.

First and foremost when you make your own food push down your protein into the plate to maximize your food. The spices the hospitality and the fact that you can make your own dish is great. There is a full bar which is nice.
