Fat Spoon Cafe

The Fat Spoon serves such appealing, eclectic dishes that I was glad they offered a buffet! They do source locally, and their food is fresh and well-​prepared. I appreciate when a restaurant serves really delicious, creative sides, and the Fat Spoon had awesome slaws, pickles, vegetables like tahini green beans, and breads. Other chefs in the region spoke really highly of this restaurant. I’ve eaten here twice and I absolutely look forward to going back.

Unusually high quality food for the Floyd area. Probably the best food option in the City. Its located in a vaguely non descript industrial plaza off the main road.

This place is a bad ide. The food was an eclectic mess when it comes to variety and it looked like it had been sitting out ALL day and covered with flies. Oh wait… IT WAS. Service was friendly but inattentive to patrons. Pricing was way out of line considering you can hardly stomach one plate. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

We needed a quick lunch in Floyd today and decided to give this place a try. The immediate gratification of the buffet lured us in. This place is in the old cross creek apparel building, so we didn’t know what to expect. What a delightful surprise this was. The food was really good and there was plenty of variety on the buffet. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. We’ll definitely be back.

Good stuff in an area of limited choices… a little hard to find, so keep your eyes open for the little sign on the bigger sign with three other businesses. Peculiar location, peculiar décor and real good, home style food. Give it a shot!

We came here on a recommendation from our farmer friend who also supplies some of the veggies here. And WOW! Finally, a restaurant in Floyd that does justice to the local food culture. I tried about 75% of the buffet offerings, collectively with the others in my party we tried them all, and every.single.dish was delicious and simply bursting with flavor. The food is nutrient dense, mostly responsibly/​locally sourced (HURRAY!!!), real tasty good for you goodness.

This place is too awesome for words. Great food at a reasonable cost. Beautiful table settings and friendly staff. Treat your eyes and your palate. Enjoy their buffet that includes lots of vegetarian choices as well as yummy meat choices. We were told that the menu changes often, so it makes coming back a no brainer. Do yourself a favor and go eat at Fat Spoon.

This is the first time I’ve bothered to write a review about any dining experience, but I feel this one is definitely in order. On Sat. Sept. 6, I ate at The Fat Spoon in Floyd, Va. The restaurant is a little hard to find but worth the hour I drove to get there. The buffet does not have as many items as the large chain buffets, but that doesn’t matter. It is obvious from the taste that the food is fresh. The produce is local and the menu is adjusted accordingly. I started with the Texas beef, bean and cabbage stew which was delicious. I tried many of the other items on the menu, including the Hickory smoked Chicken, but I kept going back for the 2 Pork dishes they had. Maple cured Pork and the Fried Pork chops, which were the best seasoned Pork Chops I can ever remember eating. The server was extremely friendly and the chef came out and spoke to all who were there. I am almost embarrassed about how much I ate, but it was the best food I have eaten in any restaurant, and I couldn’t stop eating. I actually had to undue the button on my pants when I got out to the car because I was afraid it would blow off and put a hole in the windshield. I will Definitely be going back to graze again.
Went back on Sept. 20. Menu was completely different, but again everything was delicious.

The lunch buffet is delicious and a good variety. Very reasonable prices.
Excellent eats for after a hike.
