I came here to buy liese hair dye and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all with the salespeople working that night!

Another one of those Asian owned stores that seem to be suspicious of non-Asian customers… specifically those of us who are black. I just went to this store earlier today and I was so uncomfortable walking around it was almost unbearable(mind you I was already weighed down with various bags from various stores in Skyview so it was clear that I came there TOSHOP), my inner voice told me NOT to go in because I knew what was going to happen, but I was curious to see what type of Japanese brands/products they carried. My inner voice was right, the sales associates were not at all helpful and one only asked if I needed help when I was approaching her(where as the older Chinese ladies that were in the store when I entered were quickly greeted and asked if they needed assistance) and this was after the sale clerk did the typical«black people are all thieves» store stalking(every aisle you enter, a sales clerk is standing there with arms crossed in front just watching you) she did this in EVERYAISLE. I simply said«no thank you» without bothering to look at her, at this point I was disgusted and about to leave the store so it was way too late. As annoying as the sales clerks at The Yeon can be at least they were doing their job(and **SHOCKING** I actually BOUGHT some stuff from there because they actually approached me like any other customer and were focused on selling me stuff like any decent customer service rep SHOULD be). I normally look at Japanese skin care products online(usually Rakuten) or at Japanese stores like Sakura Ya or in Mitsuwa since I’ve never gotten that type of treatment at these places. I only checked to see what they had and if it was cheaper and the latter is a DEFINITE no, for instance they carry Imyu Naturie Skin Conditioner(toner) for $ 18, but on Amazon it’s $ 13 with free shipping from various shops in Japan. So this store not only has terrible customer service(especially if you’re black), but they’re overpriced compared to Rakuten and Amazon. I will NEVER, N E V E R come back to this store and to Amore and similar stores, you all need to learn that black women spend more on skin care and cosmetics in this country than ANYONEELSE — 7.5BILLION is the average we spend YEARLY and if you’re so anti-black you’d rather not deal with us that’s fine, I will happily buy whatever you’re selling somewhere else and for a better price.

The one star is not a review of their products, but rather a rating for their customer service & the way the store is managed. While stopping by Skyview to run some errands, I thought I’d also check out the Amore shop here because I was curious about BB Cushions. First, all of the BB Cushion samples were essentially empty and needed to be replaced. When I tried testing the product, the sale’s girl assured me it was«enough» product but I could barely get anything on my hand. Second, when I expressed interest in a particular BB Cushion, she instead tried to up-sell me to another brand that was twice as much. That one didn’t have any product in it either. Since I couldn’t really test out the products, I decided to pass on purchasing them. I thanked the sale’s girl for her time but it was written all over her face that she was clearly not happy that I decided not to purchase anything. It was one of those types of stares where I knew that I would never patron this location again.

I really liked the large selection of brands and products that Amore carries. They had a number of Laneige sets; the sales girl that was there when I came in a few Saturdays ago was nice enough to demo differences between serums/essences because I wasn’t quite familiar with a full skincare régime. I didn’t quite check out all too much of the makeup selection, but I appreciated the(very!) large selection of false lashes. In addition to Korean skincare brands, there’s a good amount of Japanese cosmetics(Candy Doll, etc) and Taiwanese face masks(My Scheming, My Beauty Diary). On the note of the latter, the sales rep also offered to explain to me usage and there were also a number of specials going on. Prices are on point with MSRP — nothing seemed especially marked up. Please also note that many of these brands have the date of manufacture listed on the product. If you’re from out of the area, I believe they”ll ship products to your home as well.

WORSECUSTOMERSERVICE!.. never never buy anything from there. Most items are expired. went there on Tuesday night, while my husband was shopping for grocery. I was thinking about buying some eye mask… while I was in the shop, the employee was really friendly and willing to help. So I decided to purchase two boxes of eye masks. After I left, I was really happy and showed it to my husband. meanwhile, I realized both of the eye masks was expired!!! So I went back to the store, and asked for a exchange, since there was a lot of the same products. The manager REFUSED! she said, «I am sorry, we already enter the product within the system and there’s no way we can refund you.». But I don’t want a refund, I just want to exchange. After 10mins of arguing, she still didn’t offer a exchange… =[ I BOUGHTTWOBOXOFEYEMASK, WHICHBOTHAREEXPIRED!!! Negative = not willing to exchange!!! I HATEIT! NEVERGOINGBACKAGAIN… MOSTOFTHEITEMSAREEXPIRED. !!!WARN!!!

AMORE is a new beauty shop & spa in basement of Skyview Mall’s lower level, across from Sky Foods supermarket. I went there for a «Harmony Facial», which is basic facial cleaning, at $ 35. You can see price lists on their glass walls when you walk by. I think their prices are very reasonable. They have different types of facials, i.e. whitening facial(makes your skin look brighter), at $ 45. Each facial takes about 1 hour. I was very satisfied with service. Results were very visible. Most of my black heads were cleared, and my face felt cleaner, younger. AMORE’s services also include nails($ 8 Manicure) and waxing($ 8 waxing eyebrow). Their shop sells cosmetics from several Korean beauty brands(owner/manager is a Chinese woman, though) — Laneige, IOPE, Sulwhasoo and Mamonde.
