I never been to a nursing home/rehab before but it really takes some time to understand what goes on and write a review about it. Reason why I am here: My mom had a stroke on Nov.10th2012 and was hospitalized til Christmas. After the stroke, my mom was paralyzed on the right side of her body and also have speech problems. She was transferred to Bridge View Nursing Home for rehab & is currently living here. Nurses: Through the months, I learned a great deal about nursing home. First, I learned that there are good nurses and alot of bad ones. Some days, you will find a nurse that seem like they care and other days you will find someone who doesn’t give two cents. Here are some examples what I had to deal: I stayed with my mom on weekends for couple of months now and I noticed that you really have to be careful about everything. For example, «trained nurses» are the only ones allowed to give medication to patients. On one Saturday, I noticed that my mom was receiving 5 different kind of pills. When I asked what those pills were for, she was kind enough to explain each one to me. But Sunday was a different story. The nurse gave my mom only 3 different kind of pills. When I asked the nurse what kind of pills they were, she brushed me off and said she was busy. I explained to her that my mom got 5 last night and why was she only getting 3. She looked at the chart and replied, «Here is the other two». I found this very ridiculous and very unprofessional. One Sunday evening, after I visited my mom, I received a phone call from my father saying that my mom fell and is waiting for the ambulance at the nursing home to be taken to the hospital. Rushing back to the nursing home, I asked what had happened. Not one nurse could tell me what had happened, how and when she fell. She was basically found on the floor by another resident’s family member. Another incident was finding buries on my mom’s body. I asked the nurse what had happen to my mom and no one could answer me. I asked my mom repeatedly what had happen and from what I could understand she was dropped by a nurse accidentally during her bath. I was so angry and furious that I was not told right away about this and all the nurses basically was hiding the fact that she fell. Food: I think my high school served better food than here. Of course you can’t really expect fine dining but at least I hoped it would be better than my high school lunch. Cleanliness:(One out of the two stars given) This nursing home is kept very clean. The walls could use some new wall papers but overall kept very clean. Parking: Parking is very easy. Bridge view has one parking lot in the back that can fit around 20 cars. Depending when you go, parking shouldn’t be a problem. Rehabilitation:(Second Star) Rehab is located on the lower level. There is about five physical therapist working five days a week. They are very friendly and easy to talk to. They seem like they know what they are doing and really trying to help my mom get better. Overall: I don’t know too much about nursing homes but I really can’t recommend this place. If you do happen to have loved ones staying here, please visit them frequently and stay on top with each nurse.
