This place is pretty adorable. It’s in an old house right in downtown Flushing, and the remodel job was a good one. The wraparound porch makes for a perfect patio atmosphere, and I really like the red white and blue color scheme and table decorations. The gift shop is rather small, but has some quality offerings. Things that stuck out to me were the number of really nice children’s books, old school toys(old school = batteries not required), and awesome selection of Watkins spices, soaps, lotions and cleaning products. A few caveats: the single scoop here is actually a single scoop. While I’m not against accurate naming practices, everyone has kind of accepted the fact that ice cream shops dole out two to three times the portion size that you actually order, so I was a little surprised. Also, the parking is a bit confusing. Does this place actually have a lot? We parked near the church that’s just behind Cops and Robbers and walked over. Not a big deal but something to be aware of it you’re driving in and not from the area. Lastly, I don’t think some additional menu items would hurt. When your dessert game is strictly ice cream, it’s nice to see some creative toppings and sundaes among the standard cup and cone. After my family and I placed our order, the customer behind me ordered a milkshake. He was informed that they don’t have milkshakes on the menu, just straight up ice cream. The customer laughed, shrugged, and promptly left. While I don’t think it’s necessary for novelty dessert shops to have full menus, getting a blender and some quality milk for custom shakes is another way to up the variety factor. On a final note, I believe all ice cream served here is Country Dairy, so you can do a flavor preview on to see most of the selection if you feel so inclined.

Yummy ice cream, great prices, friendly staff and a cool gift shop! We will be back to enjoy our ice cream on the porch.
