Great service, brought my violin there for tuning and was not charged because the man said he didn’t really fix my violin, he just looked at it. I am duly impressed by his expert advice and recommendations.

Reasonably priced to have my cello string replaced. The technician seemed pretty knowledgeable. I will definitely be back considering there is a pretty low priced garage 2 blocks away.

I played the viola back when I attended high school(it was the highlight of what was otherwise a miserable experience). After a 9 year hiatus, I resumed playing. I purchased a viola on Amazon. It needed repairs so I took it to the Flushing Violin Shop. They repair Violins, Violas, Cellos, and(I think) Basses. This was back in 2012 so I forgot what I paid(I think it was $ 60). In addition to repairs, they also sell instruments. They tune instruments for free. Do not try to tune a violin or viola on your own. Let a professional do it. Once, I tried to tune it and the strings came loose. It is a pain in the ass getting to Flushing, but it is worth the trip. The shop is on the 3rd floor of a dingy building that does not have an elevator. After you’re done shopping, you can have lunch at any of the various Chinese restaurants on Main Street.

They did good repair work a prior time, but today I went in to buy a shoulder rest. The lady at the front made a mistake about the price of a shoulder rest, giving me a lower price than it actually was. I made her repeat it twice. Then, when she rang me up, she added two extra dollars and tried to make it seem like I was the one who heard her wrong. I can understand an honest mistake, but I had her repeat the price twice prior to buying it. She’s done this with me too for violin strings a previous time, but I didn’t catch it until I looked at the receipts much later. So beware of the lady and what she says about prices. I have a feeling they try to nickel and dime customers. Calculate prices before purchasing.

Great shop. I bought my violin from oner Sophie a few years ago when she and her husband just started the shop. Now they solely supply my family’s string instrument needs. The shop has many different levels of quality depending on your budget and needs. They are also accommodating for us to try different sizes and qualities. Highly recommend.

Very nice service and a beautiful shop. I bought a violin and was given a case, a bow, and a set of Dominant strings as well as a 10% Holiday discount– none of which I had asked for! The case and bow were of fairly high quality, too. I called to make an appointment first, and when I arrived there were several instruments for me to try, all in my price range. I had all the time I needed to try them out. I recommend them if you’re looking to buy. They also have a repair shop on the premises.
