Great gamja tang! I have been to many places in east coast, but this place is definitely the best!

Went here with a party of 11. This restaurant is different from my other experiences in korean restaurants. Many of the items on the menu are meant to be shared by 2 people or more and are very filling. Even with 11 people, I think we definitely over-estimated our appetite but that’s fine! Leftovers were bagged. :) Would definitely come back. It is a little pricey in my opinion though but nothing over the top.

I’m always into korean food and open to trying new places in flushing. I have a spot I frequent and I decided that I wanted to try something else. I went on Unilocal and searched for korean soups near Murray hill, queens and Geo Si Gi popped up. I went in and a few tables were already taken and everyone was having this giant pot with pork bones and potato sohp(gamja tang) so I decided to order that with my friend. We also got korean seafood pancake because that’s always good. These two come in a combo for about $ 50 ish(I believe) Firstly, the gamja tang was very flavorful. A little spicy but the soup had a strong pork bone flavor. They also come with a bunch of veggies and a bunch of pork bones with meat. One whole pot without the seafood pancake(cooked nicely and slightly with a burnt edge to make it extra crispy) was a lot to finish but me and my friend loved it so much, we did eventually chow down everything. This always warms you up on a cold winter day. Definitely a place I’ll stop by every winter and fall season.

I don’t even usually leave reviews but I HAD to for this place and its horrible customer service. The food was good, as is gamja tang usually is and the bossam(pork belly) with oysters were reallyyyy good– but the staff working that night were so rude that the food’s taste didn’t really matter anymore. I’ve never been to a Korean restaurant that treated their guests so ignorantly and rudely, by purposefully ignoring requests or doing them halfheartedly and unwillingly. They seemed super unhappy to be serving us and working there in general which made this a bad experience. My family and I will neverrrrr be coming back.

This is a small authentic Korean restaurant that specializes in their casseroles/stews, which is cooked in front of you on a large pot when you order the bigger sizes. This is great especially on those colder days in the winter! I came here with a group and we definitely enjoyed our time here. First of all, I’ll say that the Soju here is cheap, just under $ 5 a bottle(max I think is 5 bottles). So like I said, we enjoyed our time here. Anyways, for appetizers we got the seafood pancake. What I liked with the pancake is that it has a good amount of seafood in it, more than when you get it at most restaurants. For our pots, we got the Geo Si Gi Gamja Tang(pork loin and vegetables) and the Busut Janchi Bulgogi(beef with mushrooms and vegetables). The pots were brought to our table to be cooked/stay warm. The service was great that they would divide the soup for us in our bowls while we just all ate and hung out. Both dishes were good but I would say I enjoyed the Gamja Tang more. The pork added a nice richness to the soup which can be offset with all the vegetables you would be eating(as you should!) I would definitely come back again to try some other offerings!

This place hits the spot on a cold wintry day. Geo Si Gi specializes in ‘gamja tang’ which is literally translated to potato stew/soup and while it does have potatoes in it, it is actually a hearty meat stew that is slow cooked with potatoes and other delicious veggies. The huge meat bones flavor the soup and the meat falls right off the bones. Dip it in the sauce that’s tableside and enjoy it with some soju. It is served in a huge casserole pot and the serving for two will feed at least three people. Save room for the rice you can mix in at the end with the leftover soup! You can also add other noodles — ramen, udon, etc. The décor is no frills and the service is quick and efficient. We also received a couple of side dishes(ban chan) that were pretty tasty as well as a little bowl of hot steamed eggs, which is always delicious no matter where you go.

One of the best pork neck bone stews I’ve ever had. I came cross this place when I went to Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong with a group of friends. The restaurant looked small but very cozy. We ordered the pork neck bone stews/chicken feet combo and pig’s feet. The presentation of each dish looked very appetizing. The pork neck bone stew was very flavorful and the meat was very tender. My friend even asked the waitress to use leftover stew to make fried rice. The chicken feet were spicy but not overpowering and I blamed my recent craving for watching Ha Jiwon’s The Time That We’re not In love 7000days.

The husband and I were craving Korean food(specifically soon du bu). I ordered the hwae soon du bu(seafood) while my husband ordered a regular one. Overall it wasn’t bad(just average). The service really slacked, however. We didn’t have any utensils, and it would take a while before anyone would assist us. Oh. And they received a B grading.

While I love korean food, I’m not the keenest on kbbq. So when someone recommended me Geo for their traditional korean stew, I was all like, yeah let’s get down to business. So here we go, travelling up Northern until we found Geo Si Gi. We went on a Tuesday night and there weren’t many people, just a few ajusshis chilling out over some hot stew and soju and us. I went with a girlfriend and we have quite an appetite. We ordered a combo: a Gamja Tang with dried cabbage for 2 and LA Galbi. The one thing that stood out for me during this dining experience was how accommodating the servers were. My girlfriend and I are curious adventurous eaters and wanted to know more about what is in each dish. The server was trying his best to communicate with us what ingredients we didn’t know were(like the dried cabbage) and eventually he sold us to try it out. Then the food came. The same server was there to serve us and he was so nice. He even dig through the soup to show us what the dried cabbage was and asked if we were familiar with it. Then he served us a big heaping bowl of spicy soup filled with vegetables, potato, and a huge chunk of pork bone. The meat was very tender and fell off the bone easily. I kept on eating and eating but we became quite full quite fast. Would we come back again? While it was good, Flushing have so many korean restaurants that all collectively draw me in. Geo was good, don’t get me wrong. But I did not try a standout dish that makes me want to come again until I try all the others.

Great service and food was delicious. If you’re getting the pork with kimchi stew, be sure to ask for a scissor cause those cuts of kimchi are long and hard to eat on its own. Beer is a bit pricey but the food amount is a lot. 2 can feed at least 3 ppl

Think of it as Korean Hot Pot minus the cooking. I like to order the Gamja Tang(pork bone soup) when I frequent here. Everything gets cooked in front of you and you don’t even have to lift a finger. The servers come by with a portable stove and plop down a big pot filled with seafood, vegetables, udon noodles and huge pork bones. The pot is made to order by your party size. Anywhere from two to four to a pot. Once it starts to bubble, they will come and scoop it out for you. So munch on the korean appetizers while you wait, and sit back and enjoy. Order some soju and you will fit right in.

Located on the same block as the old BCD or Mr. Tofu as they call it now, I always come here for their Gamja Tang after a korean friend introduced me to it. It’s a pork bone spicy soup with veggies and seafood, the flavor is mouth watering-great for a cold night like today. Their«banchan?» appetizers are higher quality than the typical, and very generous with the portions. We got fishcakes, radishes, kelp, and a fish in tomato stew that we never tried before. The staff will come by to cook and serve you the soup, as well as a refill midway through your meal. The busboys also come by with water quite often, usually a telltale sign of great service!

Oh GeosiGi!!! Why are you so busy when I wanna go? Why don’t you have more available parking?! I love their stew! The meat slid off the bone and the broth was amazing! This was all that my friends and I ordered. I ended up bringing my friends here because the restaurant we were at rudely complained about the lack of dishes we ordered. That place is closed now and I’m glad I was turned off by them! I was able toe at delicious stew… Bring everyone to this place! Just. Expect for things to get messy!

Came here looking for something new about Korean food besides Korean BBQ. The waiter recommended us to try out the broth/soup. We tried the broth with pork. The meat was tender, skillfully braised, and fall-off-the-bone, well done! The combo also came with Galbi-LA, which is fried steak with onions in a hot pan. It tasted like any Galbi-LA from other Korean restaurants. The side dishes were very few. When I tried to ask for more complementary side dishes the waiters gave a not so friendly face. It seems they did not like that. Stingy! I’d recommend to come back to this place for the broth/soup. But beware of the service, it may sometime turn sour…

Wanted Korean food for dinner but tired of BBQ so we ended up here. It’s easy you just order the type of pork bone soup you want and pick the size(for 2 people, 3 people, 4 people)… Definitely get a combo that comes with an appetizer. We picked pork’s leg which was absolutely delicious and the portion was pretty decent. It can easily go over $ 50 per person when you go to Korean BBQ but this place costed us less than $ 30 per person and we were all stuffed!

This place was great. Me and 5 others came to Geo Si Gi after a long hike at bear mountain. We were tired and hungry. We were immediately seated and ordered our food. They noticed that one of our group members really loved their fish appetizer. So one of the waitresses personally brought him an extra fish appetizer dish(those fish appetizers that come complimentary with the food). She was so funny cause she placed the fish right next to him and walled it off from the other members with a napkin to state that it is his dish alone haha. She didn’t speak perfect English but she was super friendly and totally made our night. We had a waiter who also served us and taught us how to eat this pork, octopus, kimchi dish the korean way. They also made sure that we were properly hydrated by providing us with ice water and tea whenever we were low. When the food came, we were all veryyyyyy happy. The food was delicious! We had soon doo boo, geo si gi gamja tang, dak bal, mukeunji bossam, a egg soup dish, and this newly created dish that was sort of a hybrid between a korean pancake but stuffed with rice, carrots, octopus, and finished with a topping of melted cheese. It was amazing!!! We stuffed ourselves full and I’ll totally go back. Usually I give four stars for restaurants like this because of personal preferences(ex: spicier food). Everyone is different. My friends thought the food were spicy enough haha. But because of the waitress we had, I have to give 5 stars. She was hilarious and the best entertainment we could ask for especially after a long hike. We paid our meal with credit card and left completely satisfied… stuffed full. :)

We had a bit of the wait but the staff was super friendly and updated us on our wait time. I got the first combo stew for 2 people and we were barely able to finish it. We also had the option of this purple bean rice which was delicious. The staff came and split up the dish for us and was very accomadating. 4 stars for the service, however 3 stars for the food.

This place is THESHIT! They specialize in kamjatang. What is kamjatang you ask? Well, it is a spicy soup(if you are familiar with yookgaejang, I found the soup a little similar) made with pork backbone and dotted with pieces of potato to soak up all the goodness within. It is a rich soup as the marrow and nice stuff from the bones seeps out into the spicy and robust broth. Plus, you can grab a chunk of the backbone and gnaw on it. We ordered the #2 version which comes with ‘dried cabbage’. Dry = the better to soak up the soupy goodness. It was just divine. At odds with my praise for this kamjatang was the SPICYJOKBAL. In other words, slowly simmered pig’s feet served in a spicy sauce(more gochujang heavy — think bokkeums and ddukbokki.) It is, simply put, the best jokbal i have had. The spicy sauce does not get in the way of the delicious textures of the pig’s feet, but instead keeps you interested when you might otherwise get tired of the flat taste of normal jokbal, which is barely seasoned at all. These come in a very affordable combo for 4 people, at $ 70. Now you might think this is pretty high for two dishes. But as a matter of fact, it’s an epic shitload of food and I left here stuffed like a turkey and ready to be stuck in the oven. Bring 5 people and order the 4 person combo. Don’t forget the fact that you get banchan as well. I really liked the seasoned crispy tiny fish(dunno what they are called) and the gaerangjim(egg soufflé.) Finally, you can get Soju bottles for an otherworldly $ 3.95 a pop! Come sober and hungry leave full and plastered! Warning: Maximum 5 bottles. I took the Jokbal home as leftovers and ate it in front of my coworkers today. It was excellent, extra star for being able to freak people out at work! This meal would have been $ 100+ in Manhattan making the schlep from Manhattan worthwhile. Fully recommend, and if you want to do more with your trip walk off your meal heading east on Northern Blvd about 10 blocks and do some karaōke. Jumping around with a tambourine after an epic meal burns it all off. Trust me, I tried it.

Came here to eat lunch on an incredibly wet and rainy Sunday. We ordered the seafood pajeon and Gamjatang pork bone soup. Both were amazing with real fish flavor in the Panjeon, and succulent pork falling off the bones in the gamjatang. The flavor of the soup broth was delicious and red, yet not as spicy as it looked. There were plenty of potatoes, chrysanthemum, cabbage, and scallions to offset the richness of the pork. Auburndale has many wonderful restaurants that are authentic and delicious. I prefer eating in this area to Flushing and K-Town. Parking is also easy and the streets are not crazy hectic like Flushing. However, if the food is delicious then I would park far away and walk, or valet. Here you get the best of all worlds.

The place is on a strip of Northern with a ton of other Korean restaurants, it really has like 8 restaurants just on that one block. The place is very straight forward, but I thought the service was great. The service was very welcoming and accommodating. The menu has combos and we ended up ordering the Geo2 + Haemul Pajun combo which was great, but it is a lot of food. It says for two people but I say it’s more a 3 – 4 person order. The food: Haemul Pajun– variety of seafood with scallions. I thought it was a good pajun. The outside was nice and crisp and there was a good amount of seafood from shrimp to octopus etc inside. The inside was a tad softer than how I prefer my pajun but that’s just preference. I would get the pajun again. Geo Si Gi Gamja Tang– vegetable with pork loin casserole. The gamja tang is served on a table side burner which is great for a piping hot soup, the staff does a nice job serving it for you. The food is a very generous amount of food, I did enjoy it but I thought the broth was slightly muted, I was expecting it to be explosive with flavor. The pork hock was falling off the bone fork tender, which was nice.
