We, my husband and I, just returned from our massage. It was wonderful. We have had many massages in the past, including in Europe, on cruise ships and of course here in the USA and we can truly say that the massages we got today were as good as the best massages we had before. The only difference was the price… When we tipped, we did not use the 20% rule of tum. Instead we gave what we usually give for a very good massage: $ 15.00 per massage and $ 5.00 for the footwork… If the massages were not that good, we would have given much less.

They advertise $ 35 for 1 hr massage and 30 min footwork. I had a massage only — it was ok. At one point the guy stopped massaging me and left the room only to come back and drop hot stones in my back without any warning! I tried playing nice and made couple jokes but they were lost in translation since he spoke very little English if any. Then it was time to pay for service. And boy was it fun! Stupid me for not reading the Unilocal reviews!!! I refused footwork and still paid $ 35, gave tip $ 5. They asked for another $ 5. First the masseur did(surprisingly, in ok English), I refused politely. Then the cashier came out, I refused. Then the owner did. I told them there was no sign of mandatory(!!!) $ 10 tip and they should make one to avoid confusion in future. And I left the place. And I am NOT coming back. DONOTGOTHERE. Not worth it.

I’ve been going to this spa on and off for the past year usually to get the kinks out of my back. It has always been a no frills, go in, get your massage and leave. Today, after the lady failed to get my knots out, when I went up to the register to pay, she demanded a 45% tip and stated that the massage itself is cheap enough, I can afford the tip. What the heck?! Last time I checked, tip is completely optional and I can give you as much as I see fit. Ugh avoid this place. All their employees are lounging on the chairs, feet up, fast asleep which proves that no one wants to deal with their backward nonsense.

I am no stranger to massages and would have been satisfied with the massage I received here and given a better review as the massage was adequate, but I have never in 15 years of getting massages experienced such rudeness. Although the massage is well priced at $ 35, apparently a tip of at least $ 10(almost 30% is expected). I paid in cash as I was advised it would be $ 3 more plus tax if paying by credit card even though there is no advertisement of this fact. Neither is the fact that they expect a tip well over the usual and customary for the fee. I was giving an $ 8 tip(23%) and was quickly ambushed by the masseuse at the front desk asking«Didn’t I give a good massage?» You should be giving at least $ 10 for a tip. When I responded that the tip was over the usual and customary 20%, they advised that it should not be based on a percentage. Nowhere do they post any warning of the tip expectation. Why would a business put themself in the position of insulting a customer by telling them that their tip is not enough? If the expectation is that your tip be a certain amount, it should be posted somewhere or explained when the pricing is explained. As I said, this is the first I have experienced this extortion tactic, and it will be the last even if the massage had been exceptional insteaed of adequate.

SPAAMBIENCE: close to null. Customers and staff alike have conversations and are loud! You can hear everything and no one cares. First time I walked in I waned a manicure. On the window they advertise mani pedi. They looked at me as if I walked in a restaurant! «Huh mani pedi?», so I left pissed thinking it’s probably a happy ending kind of «spa». My friend told me that she has had actual massage and it was worth it for $ 35. So I went back. My back was killing me and Massage Envy was packed for the day. CLEANLINESS:it was clean. They kept changing sheets and towels as the patrons came in. Women and men were customers, so I felt better. MASSAGE: I doubt they received a certificate for what they call a massage but it did help my back. The lady never asked me what was bothering me, or if too hard or if I was comfortable. Very basic service. COST:$ 35=1hour TIP:30% required I gave $ 10 for 1hour and a half massage. That would be a 20%fee and the woman actually brought over a big poster showing suggested tip are 1hr =$ 101 ½=$ 15 But… That would bring the tip to 30%! I refused and said tip is my choice and not even required and I left. I don’t see any reason to go back. Oh wait they gave me a mini tiny little cup of water as I paid. LOL that was nice I guess… ha!

My friend and I went for the first time. She had a good massage, so I will give the place that– one lady there is good. My massage however was very painful! i kept asking her to be more gentle, but she didn’t listen. it hurt. Then, as we were leaving my friend and I both decided to give a 20% tip, eventhough the massage was not that great. We thought that was very generous and the lady yelled at us! We told her we were giving 20% and she continued to reprimand us and tell us it was too little and she didn’t want it. She wanted more and she was visibly furious. It made us very uncomfortable. She even picked up the phone and called her daughter who spoke English and asked her daughter to yell at us. We explained that tips are optional and that we thought 20% was very generous. She was pissed. And now I am pissed and NOT going back.

I have been coming to this place for over a year now on and off and getting either an hour body massage or foot massage. The massages have always been decent. Not earth shattering, but for the price you pay who could complain. I went this morning and sat for an hour foot massage. First off, I had to ask all the ladies in the place to please stop talking soo loudly. I came in for a massage, and it is supposed to be relaxing. Hearing four Korean(I think) women talking in Korean in a loud voice right next to you is not relaxing. Then after the massage was over and I paid cash, no receipt given of course, I gave the girl a 20% tip and she said to me: you no happy. Why you leave me bad tip. I was appalled. I can’t believe the nerve of this girl. He said that I was supposed to tip between $ 10 and $ 20 dollars. Thats 40−60%. They will lose a lot of customers. I wonder if their boss knows they do this.

This is the first time I am reviewing a place but it’s because they complained about a 20% tip, which I really don’t appreciate. I got a 30 minute massage and it was okay. The place had Chinese soft pop playing. Typically I like the music to be just instrumentals; better ambiance in my opinion… When it came down to tipping, I gave 20% because I felt that the massage was just average and wasn’t anything phenomenal. Not only did she count the money in front of me but then said it wasn’t enough for a 30 minute massage. Call me whatever you like but if you are only charging $ 20 for an okay 30 minute massage, I will base my tip on that.

a legit place — $ 35 for 1 hour Lim was amazing. Got the knots out — and a hot stone massage to boot. If you’re looking for a feng shui place — or posh & pretty — Green Apple is not for you — but with Massages for $ 35 an hour — i can treat myself more often!

Based on Jenn’s advice, I went to get a massage at Green Apple. I went in and wasn’t impressed with the place. It’s a bit dingy and can you please cut out the Chinese elevator music! Anyway, I got into the room, undressed, and sat on the table as I wasn’t sure where I needed to place my head. Once the masseuse came in, she ripped a hole in the paper lining at one end of the table and told me place my head there. The massage was good. Better than American masseuses but not as good as a Korean masseuse. Plus, the oil smelled funky and I’m about to jump in the shower to get the funky smell off me. But, for $ 35, it was quite a deal but I just prefer to go to a nicer massage parlor. Call me a snob but I don’t care. If you don’t care about the ambiance, you should definitely check this place out.

Came back yesterday for my 3rd massage at Green Apple. It was amazing. I’ve been having pains in my back and Mabel must have kneaded out every single knot. Do not be fooled by these little ladies; she was incredibly strong!
