I’m sure this place has been a haven for some people, but it was total hell for me as a child as the people there are total hypocrites and even though they preach to do only good deeds and be kind to every living creature, they (everyone, the people and the monks) look down upon under privileged families and although they treat the under privileged adults ok, the children are ostracized among the more privileged children and is often the scapegoat for everything the rich kids do and gets the worst «punishments» the monks deal out to «bad children».
PARENTS, please DO NOT try to fit in with these people as if you do not agree/​accept their eastern «teachings», you children WILL suffer and both of you will be ostracized from these «elite» people.

Wow, I cannot believe there isn’t a review on this place yet and I’m the first! Let me explain why I am amazed…
This is one of the largest Buddhist temples in the area. With a building of over five floors, this temple also acts as a community service center. The boys and girls scouts meet here. There is a tea room area where senior citizens hang out. There is a Chinese school for small children upstairs. They hold multiple festivals throughout the year. This temple also has an active Young Adult Division: everyone under 35 who wants to volunteer their time in bettering the community and the environment in and around the Flushing area. This is like a hot spot of Asian activity in the area. They will welcome you even if you’re not Buddhist.
Of course, the monks and nuns here are also active in Buddhist worship, prayers, ceremonies and celebrations. They are a division of Fu Guan San: a major organization of Buddhists from Taiwan.
