Beef was okay but the fish, lamb and mango pudding were amazing. Fish was buttery and lamb had the 3 spice thing gong for it. Definitely going to get those meats again in the future.

Mediocre. We went at a busy time and there was only one waitress. All the tables were not even filled so I can only imagine how much crazier it would be if it was packed. We didn’t get our food for at least 30 minutes and she did apologize in advance which I appreciated, but the problem was she forgot our order. The chicken is disgustingly greasy! Everything else was mediocre. I could’ve made it better myself. Its expensive for what it actually is. I rather have went to sarku Japan.

I really wanted to like this place. It has more ambiance than your typical Flushing restaurant, but food and service are completely lacking here. I’ve had their bento boxes a couple of times. Their menu says all of their bento boxes come with soup or SODA. Yet when I go to order a bento box, I ask for the SODA, specifically a sprite, only to be told that I am only allowed to have a coke. Why I ask? No reason. Only coke. If you only give out cokes, then do not write SODA on your menu because that is false advertising! Change your menu! The biggest problem though is that the food is overloaded with salt and msg. I love salt and this is too much salt for me. What’s with the salt? Maybe buy a little less salt, and use that money to change your menu?

Came here with my dad last week and didn’t have any dinner reservations so we got seated right at the bar. I wanted steak and my dad wanted some seafood so what better than the Deluxe Trio to share! You can customize it between their choices of lamb, chicken, a Filet Mignon and lobster tail. We went for the Filet Mignon for my taste and the Lobster tail for my dad’s taste. The service was quite fast and the staff was very attentive with us throughout the evening. I even like the décor in the restaurant, it’s has nice brick walls with small tables, cool lighting displays and a large triple hibachi grills right in the center. Definitely cool atmosphere in here. Will be back!

Tastes way better than any hibachi I tried in New York. I believe it is Taiwanese style hibachi, reminded me of home. They don’t do the corny hibachi shows, but the dishes tastes pretty good, but on saltier side. However, at least I think it doesn’t taste like the MSG loaded dishes other hibachi places have. They use oil instead of butter, so it doesn’t make you feel bloated and gross after. Service is pretty good as well. I just wish they serve hot tea, would have gone great with the food.

Ambiance and place is nice… service is good, but food needs an upgrade. They put way too much salt on everything from the bean sprouts … Cabbage … Seafood and meat. When you order you should tell them to cut down on the salt.

Their lunch bento box was just recently introduced, it is pretty good for $ 8.50 with either soup or soda. The portion is huge. It is served between 12 to 2pm

On Friday night, I walked with a friend into several restaurants but there were always a waiting list. But here, we were able to get a table. I ordered a main dish of grilled salmon with sweet honey mustard sauce. It comes with vegetables: sauteed bean sprouts, sauteed cabbage, rice and a dessert. I like meal set, because there’s a lot of food to eat. The salmon is cooked well done, the honey mustard sauce was sweet, to little sauce. I like to mix it with the rice. It was entertaining to see the chefs cooking the food on the teppan while waiting for the meal. They gave us a discount because we kept waiting for our food. I don’t mind waiting if I can have a discount. :D

Every decent bubble tea lover knows about Kung Fu Tea but have you heard of the company’s recent foray into the restaurant business? Not a far walk from Main St in Flushing, Kungfu Hibachi attempts to offer authentic Taiwanese food in a mostly Chinese cuisine dominated area. In this case, that food is Taiwanese hibachi. Most Americans are accustomed to the show-style hibachi with the onion volcanoes and the shrimp-into-pocket flips. Kungfu Hibachi does not offer any of those unauthentic parlor tricks. What it does offer is a nice full course dinner for a reasonable price. The restaurant décor is quite modern and there’s a clean bathroom in the back, which is always a plus in New York City. You can sit either on the normal tables or alongside the bar, where you can witness your food being grilled. There are a multitude of Taiwanese foods on the menu including hot pot, various vegetable appetizers, and different kinds of grilled meats. Some meats are premium including steak and salmon while some meats are cheaper including beef and chicken. My friend and I ordered the Kungfu Trio which comes with a choice of three meats, we picked beef, lamb, and pork chop. The course comes with two soups and large plates of stir-fried cabbage and bean sprouts. We had a mushroom soup and it had a great umami taste. The vegetables are classic sides in Taiwanese meals but their tastes are polarizing, either you’ll love them or hate them. The vegetables were a nice addition but it does come a bit too early before the meat, you might find yourself eating too many of the vegetables early instead of alongside the meat. We had our meat stir-fried in black pepper sauce and made spicy. I was a little disappointed with the lamb and the beef. Although the meat itself was grilled well, the entire dishes were slathered in sauce and too heavy for my liking. These dishes were difficult to eat without pouring them over the rice. The pork chop was just grilled and lightly seasoned and it tasted way better than the stir-fried meat. Sometimes, less is better. Lastly, they brought out the dessert which is Taiwanese milk pudding. It’s definitely visually appealing and resembles a poached egg, with the white pudding dipped in a sweet fruity orange sauce. I really liked the dessert and it was a nice finishing touch to the meal. Overall, for $ 32, the Kungfu trio was a relatively large amount of food for two and a good value in my opinion. I understand that compared to other Asian restaurants in Flushing, Kungfu Hibachi is a bit pricey. However, compared to more famous Hibachi chains, Kungfu Hibachi is a high-value place to go for an above casual dining experience.

Having had hibachi in Japan, I feel like no amount of hibachi restaurants I go to will ever top my experience there – there’s almost no comparison. Like, ever. I was a huge fan of Kung Fu Tea during their heyday(~2011), and the idea of a tea shop chain venturing out to the restaurant side is almost unconventional. My friends took me here for my birthday… so why not. Since this place is relatively new(and a rarity in Flushing), it’s probably still improving, but it may not be what you expect. First, don’t expect Japanese-style hibachi. They’re sticking with their Taiwanese roots and everything is supposed to be Taiwanese style. A friend and I shared the Kung Fu Trio with beef, lamb, and shrimp. The shrimp plate consisted of about 5 pieces or so, the lamb was mildly spicy, and worst yet, the beef was horrible – there was a sourish taste to it that I can’t describe but it tasted nowhere near fresh at all. Without some rice, I think we both would’ve been extremely hungry afterwards because it was not a filling meal at all. Dessert was a Taiwanese pudding with mango sauce – which was good – but my friend, who was born and raised in Taiwan, was a little thrown off that they called it Taiwanese pudding because he said it was«nowhere near what real Taiwanese pudding is.» Expensive, especially for the small amounts of subpar food we got, but service was pretty great. This is the only hibachi restaurant in downtown Flushing, but there are much better places if you travel to the real outskirts of Queens.

Really decent, I gotta say. A nice place to bring ppl u wanna [slightly] impress. My first time here was better than my second… First time had the chicken, sirloin beef. Second time had salmon, beef, rib eye, and sausage. Out of all of these, the best was definitely the sausage, and both of the $ 20+ beef. Salmon came out overdone and dry(so sad), and regular beef is just really easy to be well done since it’s so thin. The dessert(some sort of white flan with mango drizzle) was super. Oops, almost forgot the veggies… Awesome veggies they are. Must be the butter or black pepper or something, but I thought it was better than some of the other common meats as well. I would come back here when I feel splurge-y or date-y, hehe.

a little pricy compare with other restaurants around but foods are fresh made at the cooking counter and you can choose to sit next to it or regular table. I ordered the a la cartel fried two mushroom, lunch special of lamb and sirloin, which came with a cup of miso soup, a bowl of rice, a over easy egg, and fried vegetable(cabbage). It’s little bit smoky as I expect so I chose to sit at the regular table. Foods were nice. Mushroom was a little bit oily but still good with rice. Sirloin were overcooked, lamb was nice and perfect with rice. Overall was a good experience.

I always thought hibachi-styled restaurants were the ones where the chef for your table puts on a little show while he cooks your food. Turns out that the little theatrical acts are optional and up to the chef/restaurant. Kungfu Hibachi does have one large table surrounding the iron grill but the presentation is more in the garnishment of the chef’s creation than in the cooking. You’ll see them meticulously picking little parsleys or greens and adjusting them on your plate before handing them to you. The meats are well-flavored, especially the short ribs. The shrimps are peeled and delicious. The restaurant offers combinations or you can order a la carte. At the end, they serve a bite-size complimentary dessert of their pudding with mango sauce. Overall, good food, nice décor, and service was present but the chefs could be more engaging for the complete hibachi experience.

Kungfu Hibachi is a hidden gem in Flushing. Newly opened, it has the magic to make it in this area: Great happy hour Korean BBQ /Hibachi Small but clean spot for dinner, drinks and late nite eats We started with beers and sake and sat by the grill area. Very chill. Then I noticed the bathroom, there only one for the entire restaurant. And there is a line forming… After a few beers, the bathroom line was making me crazy so we had to jet. I wish you well Kungfu Hibachi, good luck with the new restaurant!

This is definitely more of 3.5 stars, but I’d like to caveat that since they just opened, I’m sure they’re working out a lot of kinks. Expect this rating to potentially changed as time goes on. I came here with my boyfriend this Saturday when I saw that they were offering a «Buy one get one entrée» deal. AMBIANCE: The place itself is very very small, and doesn’t have too much seating which may become a problem as they become more popular. However, it is very nicely decorated with a chic ambience not found in many places throughout Flushing. I can definitely see this as a nice spot for your next date night. We were given a table by the window rather than at the hibachi table(our own decision), and menus. The entrée menu is very small. If I remember correctly you had the choice between steak, pork, chicken, shrimp, or salmon. When you order an entrée, you receive rice, vegetables, soup, and a dessert with the meal. I ordered the sirloin with house sauce and my boyfriend got the pork chop. FOOD: To begin, the waitress brought out two bowls of mussel soup. It’s the typical clear scallion broth you get at most Asian places, with a single mussell within. This was delicious — even my boyfriend who doesn’t normally enjoy these soups drank the whole thing. Shortly afterwards, we received two small plates of bean sprouts sauteed with onions. We assumed this was a side dish so we let it sit. I picked at it — and it was very good. About 10 minutes later, we were then brought two other small plates of sauteed cabbage. Again, we assumed this was a side order for the entrée so we only tasted it — it had good flavor but was definitely on the salty side. This is where timing became an issue. We received our two vegetables about 15 – 20 minutes before receiving our entrees, so when they finally arrived, our vegetables were stone cold. Entrees were passed out with two bowls of lukewarm rice. We knew they just opened, so we let it pass. My steak was actually cooked wonderfully. A perfect medium-medium rare and smothered in their delicious house sauce. I wished my veggies weren’t cold– otherwise it’d be much more enjoyable. Unfortunately, my boyfriend didn’t enjoy his pork chop. I’m guessing that because it wasn’t the correct cut of meat, the chop didn’t have a chance to properly absorb any of the flavors, so the resulting dish was bland. The egg pudding at the end was very nice. I’ve definitely had better, but it was good. SERVICE: I attribute the service on Saturday to their«new-ness». In my opinion, the staff still needs to go through a lot of training, but at least they are very kind. I wasn’t blown away, but they definitely need some work. For example, my boyfriend eats much faster than I do, which means he finishes off his plates much faster than I. Instead of collecting plates when both of us were done, they collected plates one at a time. It was very strange — the waitstaff would come over and collect one of the three empty plates and then not return for the others. There were also times where we asked for our table to be cleared, but it seemed like the servers could only carry one or two plates at once. This isn’t anything major but it is very strange. PRICE: If it weren’t for the buy one get one deal, I probably wouldn’t be very satisfied. The portion sizes are small, and the prices are hefty for what you’re receiving. On a regular day, my steak costs $ 18.99, and the pork chop costs $ 15.99(I think). We paid only $ 18.99 of course, but I think the value isn’t there normally. EIther the portion sizes should be larger or there needs to be some sort of adjustment. TAKEAWAY: If you’re in the area and looking for something new — check out Kung Fu hibachi. As there buy one get one deal is no longer available, I’d still wait a little bit for them to hash out the service. Get the steak, and check in on Unilocal for a free soda.
