After suffering over a month for severe neck and shoulder pain, I finally found some time to get it checked out by a physical therapist. Dr Lu’s office is open every day but I was assigned an appointment of 4 days later. 2 days prior to the day of my appointment, the staff contacted me to have my appointment advanced to an hour earlier. Although it wasn’t my preferred time, I agreed to the change and showed up punctually. The staff was cold and unprofessional. During registration and insurance verification, I was told that I won’t be allowed to receive the consultation and/or therapy(on the day) due to a missing authorization number on the referral letter. I asked the staff to call my primary doctor to fix the matter but they refused because(according to them) I have yet officially become Dr Lu’s patient. So I executed the call myself and waited there for a while. About half hour later, they let me in. Dr Lu asked a few questions regarding my problem. I shared my medical history and expressed my concerns. She said that it was nothing major and I shouldn’t be worried. The consultation session was brief and quick. I sensed that she’s in a hurry because she interrupted my comments and shortened our discussion. She touched the back of my neck and encouraged me to do more exercise. She didn’t even observe my posture and movement. I was then instructed to come back next time for the physical therapy. Overall, I’m not satisfied with their customer service and arrangement. They should’ve announced their requirement(s) in advance. The patient is in pain and they made it worse. It seems like they intentionally made me show up on 2 occasions so they can charge for 2 visits. I’ve tried using the same insurance with different practitioners and none have given me any hard time on the referral authorization. I’m going to find a better doctor with a caring team.
