Mango Rico

I like this store and happy to live near-​by. They do a good job of providing us with varieties of seasonal vegetables and fruits. Their price range is more than reasonable. Though the place is busy most of the time, Cashiers and the management are pretty promt on their duties. I highly recommend this store, if you are in a mood for vegetables and fruits.

I am updating this to be 3 stars due to my latest visit, which was not encouraging. Some of the produce still looks fine and fresh and cheap, but what I went to get was zucchini, which they are keeping un-​refrigerated on a hot day. This has apparently caused fruit flies or some sort of flies to be attracted to the zucchini and when I got close to have a look, about 50 flies started buzzing around. Gross.
I also checked the red onions and they did not appear fresh. I thought about plums, too, and they were not that great either. Perhaps the produce is not doing well due to the weather (hot and humid) but then they need to have more refrigeration or cooler storage.
I still got some other items because overall I think it’s a decent store with some good items and cheap prices.
For zucchini I walked a few blocks over to Kim Brothers on 80^th and 37^th and they keep theirs refrigerated so it’s fresh.

I get my citrus fruits here.
I get the juice oranges – five for a dollar.
I get the tangerine here – five for a dollar.
I get the red grapefruit – three for a dollar.

This is a great produce store. They always have cheap prices and fresh fruits and vegetables. As Laura E. mentions the aisles are narrow. I purchase my produce here pretty frequently since it’s only a couple blocks from my place. I highly recommend Mango Rico!
