A malaysian/thai/indonesian market! It’s right across from Lok Lok, near the botanical garden. It’s tiny but has lots of goodies. Snacks, cooking ingredients, curry mixes, sauces, etc. What I was looking for was PANDAN extract and they had it for $ 2! Yay. They also have juices and frozen products, although I wish they had mango ice cream. They do offer a lot of durian products… if you’re into that.

This is the only one Malaysian market in flushing I believe. They sell some of the famous product in Malaysia. For example my favorite 100Plus which is only sold in Malaysia because I didn’t see any other supermarket selling it here. People who crave for Malaysian snack can take a visit here and I’m sure you will something that is nostalgia and interesting too. Anyhow, this place is small and I wish they could have import more product like snacks from Malaysia. 4 stars is given for the only Malaysian store and 100Plus drink. Ps: 100Plus is an energy drink.

Old town prides itself in selling specialty food items native mainly to countries of Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Though limited in space the place has a huge assortment and variety of items to choose from. Dry and wet goods like curry mixes, sauces and gravies. Pre made sauces are sold and stored in pouches and hung on the wall. I was told by the owner many street cart vendors buy her sauces by the boxes, because it’s easier than making it themselves and it’s pretty darn tasty! They sell the popular«oldtown white coffee» instant mixes in many different varieties. You can find frozen banana leaves, palm sugar, coconut milk and a nice assortment of sambal paste. They also sell many other spices and herbs from southeast asia. They have a nice variety of prawn chips, seasoned peanuts, crackers and cakes. I myself enjoy the matcha green tea ginger powder mix, it’s quite good. Right now it’s a cash only business. They are in the process of installing a credit/debit card machine. Parking Street Meters are the only available way to park. Depending on the day, it could be difficult to secure a spot. A great place to shop for those hard to find spices!
