This place… is okay… under average in my opinion… the bread was so good… so I was like okay I’ll order a lot of food… I did… and I regretted… some orders were so salty… and some were under seasoned(maybe tasted bland because some orders were super salty) I may go again… if I’m around in the area… and no where else is open… would have given this place a 2.5… but was feeling generous so I rounded up

I was here last night for a graduation party. Let me tell you, major props to Piccolo Sogno for dealing with a party of 30+ hungry people on a rainy and late Saturday evening. I would go in saying DONOT judge a book by its cover. At first glance, it looks like your run-of-the mill Italian joint in Queens –nothing special. Walking in, a friendly hostess directed us to walk straight to the back, My first thought was«Is our party really happening in the kitchen?» The waitstaff must have noticed the look of confused disgust on my face because they happily directed me to the beauty that is their patio. It’s an adorable, christmas-light lit venue that immediately made me think of the«Kiss the Girl» scene from the Little Mermaid(water included, thanks to the rain!) Now, let’s talk about what really matters when it comes to a restaurant-the food. Their eggplant rollatini was bomb. Seriously, it was filled with rich and delicious ricotta– I could not get enough. Their penne a la vodka was addicting. My table even had to ask for more bread so that we could soak up the extra sauce. Everything else was pretty good, too. My only issue was that they took too long to bring out the food in between each course. However, part of this is because I couldn’t wait to see what was next on the menu! As stated earlier, I would really love to commend the staff at Piccolo Sogno. Our party started at 8pm and finished at 12am. I am sure the owners and staff were desperate to go home, but not once did we feel rushed to leave or unwelcome. They treated us impeccably and for that I thank them.

I have ordered take out from here twice. The first time, I ordered the Linguine Vongole and the fried calamari with the marinara sauce which was pretty good. The second time, I ordered the cavatelli with shrimps and«broccoli rabe» in garlic and oil, which was VERY disappointing. Everything was over cooked, except for the shrimp. One half of the dish had broccoli rabe and the other half was spinach where the description only mentioned broccoli rabe. I would recommend the other two dishes which I first mentioned, but definitely not the cavatelli with the shrimp and«broccoli rabe». The staff is very nice and welcoming. But I am contemplating whether to order from here again.

«Is the restaurant in the back? Are you sure? Oh, nevermind, I can smell the food.» My sister recommend coming to this out of the way restaurant by her place. There is ample parking in the neighborhood, which greets you with a pizzeria store front. Immediately my mind thought«Are we eating take out pizza dishes at table?» But as my eyes glanced over the large delicious looking plates being served in a cozy and rustic back restaurant, I may have indeed judged a book by its cover. Our party was quickly seated and given an assorted bread basket that was devoured and refilled before looking at our menus. The wait staff is super friendly and patient but makes you feel like family at home. We all shared some eggplant rollatini and mussels served in red sauce, both were satisfying as we drank and chatted while waiting for our entrees. My pork medallions with apple sauce was juicy and tender. Not overdone, but not pink either. Everyone was very pleasantly surprised with their dishes. While packing up leftovers from our large portions is still couldn’t get over this hidden surprise, but will be sure to visit again if only to try that pizza in the front.

This is by far my most favorite pizza spot in Queens. The pizza is ALWAYS fresh and hot, never dull. Trust me, there’s something unique and special in their pizza that I have never tasted before!

I took a trip into Flushing, Queens for my friend to get an estimate for some bodywork on his car, with that done, we had empty stomachs in the middle of the afternoon, so with a phone call and a recommendation we ended up at Piccolo Sogno. I don’t know Carmine, but if I meet him I’m going to thank him for suggesting this place. As soon as we walked in I saw the pizza at the counter and knew lunch would be good. We wanted to sit down to eat. We were directed to a table and handed menus. We ordered a bottle of wine, my friend went with the Linguine in clam sauce, and I ordered off the lunch menu. A chicken dish who’s name I forget, but it consisted of red sauce, some pesto, mozzarella and roasted potatoes. While we were waiting for our dishes, the chef came out of the kitchen. As he walked by the table he said hello and let us know our food was on the way. Is there better service than that? The food did arrive shortly after, and it looked as good as the pizza I saw in the front. Then we ate. Everything was perfect. I just wish I lived closer. I want to try the pizza and some more entrees. If lunch was this good, dinner must be great.

Came here with a large group on a Tuesday afternoon and the service and food were outstanding! Drinks were refilled and brought out to the tables. There was course after course of food and everything was fresh and delicious. The penne alla vodka was hands down the best I have ever had. We had our food served family style so we all got to try a bit of everything. No one left hungry and in fact we left with bags of leftovers! This place did not disappoint!

Excellent Italian Cuisine(I would even say some of the best in Queens). These people really pay attention to quality of ingredients and the method of preparation. Everything is fresh and well presented. The menu is large and diverse, with some uncommon dishes + classics; my family and I always love coming here. Highly Recommend!

This is the best Italian restaurant in the area. If you’re craving an indulgent bowl of pasta, this is the place to go. My faves are the penne del sindaco and the fettuccini golose. In the summer, I love sitting out in the garden area. The owners are super friendly and always make sure you’re enjoying your meal.

Small cozy restaurant with great outdoor space. This place is easily mistaken for a small pizza shop but they have a phenomenal menu with authentic Italian cooking. The chef is always very accommodating to your requests and makes it with perfection. My husband and I like our mussels spicy and he added exactly the right amount of heat. My picky kids eat very simple pasta with meat sauce and although not on the menu, he makes it for them and they gobble it all up. My favorite is their broiled salmon with cherry tomatoes and arugula drizzled with olive oil, always cooked perfectly. My husband’s favorite is their linguine with white clam sauce… sauce made from scratch with 10 large cherrystone clams and not from the can. They use fresh and good ingredients but don’t charge luxury prices. The linguine and white clan sauce is less than $ 16. I get charged $ 19 at the pizzeria by my house and it’s made with clam sauce from a can with frozen clams. My salmon dish is $ 16.50 for a large piece of salmon. Oh, did I say service is always impeccable? I never remember his name but their main waiter is always so courtesy and never forgets anything. The chef and owner comes out and greets the patrons and always asks about the food. I don’t live in the neighborhood but we love coming here. A true gem.

I’ve had takeout from here a few times and have dined in once… The pizza in the front is ok if you need to grab something quick. Got the shrimp fra diavlo for dine-in once, and the shrimp were a tad on the petite side… I’ve only gotten sandwiches and slices since then. Nice outdoor seating and parking is fairly readily available.

I hate to give three stars but this place is truly a three star restaurant. First off, food is average to slightly above average. It’s not something I would come back for. Pasta sauce is mostly watery except for penne vodka. We also ordered a chicken dish and I hate to say that the meat is quite bland and dry. Fish is good– with flavorful sauce. Service is merely attentive though friendly and what ticked me off really, was the extremely slow service. The restaurant was only half full the day we went, but gee, it took forever for the food to come. I don’t know if I would ever make a trip back given the truly average food. Or maybe the chef was too overwhelmed that day. Can’t figure it out.

We haven’t been to Piccolo Sogno in a few years, not sure why, especially since they are so close to our home, but I have to tell you that we enjoyed our dinner just as much tonight as we did the first time we dined here. The restaurant has a towny feel, which makes you feel right at home. I had the Pollo alla Livornese. The Livornese sauce was nice and light with just the right amount of Cerignola olives and capers. My wife had the Vitello Saltimbocca, which was prepared with prosciutto and sage. Our daughter had the Pollo alla Zingara with sautéed artichoke hearts, roasted peppers and mushrooms. My wife and I both felt that the chicken and veal were moist and tender. Our son had the gnocchi with pesto topped with grilled shrimps. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, and the shrimps were not over grilled. The pesto sauce was flavorful, but could have had a little less oil. I have to say our entrees arrived to the table at just the right temperature, and were prepared well. The service was congenial, and pleasant, and we did not feel rushed during our meal. Little intermezzos between each course definitely is important for an enjoyable meal. The entrees were just the right size, and I didn’t feel like I was walking away as if I over ate. Piccolo Sogno is a hidden treasure in our neighborhood. Looking forward to our next dinner here. Ciao!

Piccolo is one of the better inexpensive traditional Italian places in Queens. With good service and food for decent prices. My favorite dishes are: Black Squid Linguine — always cooked to a nice al dente and served with fresh seafood. Great dish Margarita Pizza — tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil. One of the better Margarita pizza’s I’ve had in Queens. It’s also a great portion for under $ 9. If your fancying some good ol’ Italian pasta and pizza and live in the Flushing area. Piccolo is your destination.

Remember Nona’s infamous dishes that made you look forward to Sunday dinner or even holidays? That’s what I experienced here at Piccolo Sogno. This is a gem in this quiet neighborhood. The owners Maurizo & Carolina are full of smiles. Being that it was my first time dining here they made it their business to introduce themselves to me. In my opinion that’s what really separates a business apart from another business. A business that truly believes in customer service. We were served fresh bread along with two pieces of pizza bread. The bread did not come with any butter which I found strange. I guess you’d have to request it if you really needed it. Our waiter Caesar was nice and obliged our requests. We skipped appetizers we didn’t need the extra calories. I ordered a Pinot Noir and placed my entrée of the Chicken Parmigiana with Baked Ziti on the side. Healthy portions came out within 15 minutes. Mozzarella & fresh Black Pepper was added to my meal which made it all the more delicious. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by. You’ll feel like you’re dining at Nona’s house with the family.
