I love this place. It is very affordable, never crowded and the service is very attentive. The dim sum is great amd the sushi is always super fresh. Like many reviewers mentioned — sashimi pizza is a must! Every place makes their pizza different, but this one is the absolute best! The dream tower sushi bar appetiser is really good as well. They serve beer and basic wine, but no hard liquor.

Poor service. Forget about getting anything you ask for, like water. It came well after the food was served. And served food to all except one of our party. Theirs came after everyone else was practically finished. Manager and staff had attitude issues as well. Food was ok but can’t recommend setting foot in this establishment again.

Excellent food and service. My favorite dishes to order would be the Sashimi Pizza, Xiao Long Bao which are soup dumplings and the sushi which is fresh and delicious. I love the variety of food they have. They have Thai, chinese and Japanese and the prices are pretty cheap. The waiters and hostess are extremely friendly. I always come here for either lunch with a couple of friends or a group dinner with family. I am never disappointed here.

An absolute FILTHY dump with awful service. We were a party of six. We asked them four times to bring us water, they ignore you but if you are persistent they will bring it. We ordered sodas, did not come till the end of the meal though we asked over and over. The food is take out quality, nothing great. Filthy bathrooms. The last time this joint was remodeled was in the early 70’s when it was an Italian Restaurant owned by Fat Sonny, a bag man for local crooked politicos. By gun point and/or for free I do not return to this pigsty!

Good, clean Chinese food. Great option for those in Fresh Meadows and Bayside. You can get your fix for soup dumplings without needing to go into the craziness of Flushing. Large portions.

Food is good from here. My family orders from here quite often. Their Steamed flounder, ginger and scallion lobster, and shrimp in garlic sauce are our favorites. Also recommend their pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings and house special fried rice. Sushi is fresh also. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They will go out of their way to meet your requests. Def the best Dine in, authentic Chinese in the area along with Peking house on 187 street and Union Tpke.

Solid food, I especially like the sashimi pizza, braided duck appetizer and sushi rolls in general. Sashimi is very fresh. Would definitely come back if I have time!

We go here about once every two months. Before finding Red House, we had not eaten in a Chinese restaurant in 10 years. We still do not eat in any other Chinese restaurant. Here the food is exceptional. Strong flavors. The most tender chicken and beef ever. Staff is good, prices are very reasonable, place is clean. Sushi is also very good.

Pleasantly pleased with the food and service. Started with an order of pork soup dumplings, they were so tasty. Our main dishes consisted of Mongolian Beef, Pork Lo Mein and teamed Chicken with Broccoli. All around, the food was tasty, not salty, cooked to perfection. The service was great, our server was engaging. They didn’t push us out when we lingered after dinner. Of course, the rounds of Sapporo and Plum Wine didn’t hurt either. I would recommend Red House to my friends, a nice place to sit and enjoy a well made meal.

Two words. Sashimi. Pizza. A must try! I also recommend ordering various plates and sharing family style. There are too many tasty dished to not try them all. The deep-fried soft shell crab and the fresh sushi mmmm. The only reason that I did not give five stars, is because they don’t always get my order right when I order for pick up but the food is always fresh and on point.

The good Eaten once in house, mainly take out about 20 times. Eat in… Nice enough décor and service… Dated though… Limited drink menu… Great price for portion for all food… Rarely greasy. Usually well prepared and seasoned but does depend on chef… Wish more consistency… Dining in better than take out… Check out Chinese authentic specials with roast pork and vegetables. Crazy big portion. Just a little too much sauce. I would stay away from straight Chinese American classics… They seem to make more authentic stuff better. Favorite when on point: Peking duck, shrimp fried rice, chicken and eggplant, moo shu pork, dried sautéed string beans, Shanghai style smoked fish Their soup dumplings(steamed tiny buns) very good– thin dough tasty filling Nice thing if you spend $ 35 or $ 45 you get some extra good or drinks thrown in Quick delivery The bad Poor food consistency. Not as good or reliable as Peking on Union Turnpike but they deliver. They also serve Japanese sushi and menu which is pretty bad. They probably would do better if kitchen would focus on one style of cuisine. Most appetizers consistently off: chicken wings, BBQ spare ribs, scallion pancakes, fried dumplings Overall best Chinese for takeout in the area. Interesting menu with unusual options more often found in Chinatown(soup dumplings, Shanghai smoked fish, roast pork and veggies)

The food is really authentic and delicious, the dumplings and the orange chicken is really good. The place is authentic and they give you complimentary tea which is really a plus.

Love their xialongbao, magnolian beef, sashimi pizza, and deep fried flounder! This place is my favorite chinese restaurant because their food is not as greasy as other chinese resturants and not as salty. There’s plenty of parking around the restaurant and it’s very easy to get to. Service is always great.

My husband and I used to order delivery from here all the time about 6 months ago and the food was delicious. Today(jan 2015) we ordered delivery and the quality and taste of the food was horrible. It lacked taste and the sesame chicken was gross. We also ordered sushi and not so good. The crab soup dumplings were OK, usually they taste much better. I hardly write reviews but felt very compelled to write this one. Very disappointed.

This place is absolutely delicious. Everything is superb and the servers, location, and atmosphere is excellent. The teriyaki beef and salmon is always cooked to perfection. The only downside is that once they forgot to put my miso soup in my takeout bag. Otherwise it I perfect.

This was a very confusing experience and my head, tastebuds & stomach cannot corrolate the different tastes pulling in all directions. Are we getting sushi or dumplings next? What’s up with this chili pepper coming down the pipe and then some dumplings? Red House bill themselves as a Asian Fusion restaurant, but is really just throwing multiple Asian cuisines into one place. They probably started as just a Chinese place, but added Thai and Japanese later. The Japanese menu is a totally separate booklet and the Thai dishes are more of a footnote in the Chinese menu. Ordering across the spectrum, we thought to try a variety of dishes. We started with West Lake Beef soup with cilantro &2 kinds of soup dumplings(xiao lung bao). Not the best XLB I’ve had, but serviceable. We also ordered the salmon dinner(roll, nigiri & sashimi) and a sashimi dinner(both came with miso soup & salad). The salmon looked really pale and lacking in flavor and some of the sashimi cuts were tough chewing. On top of that, grilled lamb with cumin sauce and the house special fried rice was also ordered. The sliced lamb was served on a sizzling cast iron platter with lots of chili peppers was tasty, but the sauce was too salty. Easily the best thing we ate was the Sashimi Pizza, an original creation by the sushi chef. Slices & bits of various fish spread out on a 12″ scallion pancake and drizzled with spicy mayo & ponzu sauce. This is the most fusion you’re going to get. Everything else is standalone. With the mix of different cuisines, it was also confusing when the dishes came to the table. Plus everything came out so fast and in no given order. What do we eat first? Didn’t matter in the end, we just ate. If your family or group is totally split about the type of Asian cuisine to have on a given night, Red House just may be the ticket to satisfy everyone’s tastes.

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend last week, after he raved about the Sashimi pizza he had tried. We decided to split 2 dishes: the beef chow fun and the sashimi pizza. I was excited to try this pizza, as it sounded intriguing. The beef chow fun was actually pretty good, and a decent size. The pizza was actually a bunch of sashimi on a scallion pancake with a bunch of mayo sauces drizzled over it. It was delicious. The pizza came in 8 slices. The food was pretty filling, and we decided to bring the rest of the pizza home, and it was pretty decent cold the next day. The price isn’t too bad for the food either. I would definitely come here again!

This place sucks. Came for lunch this afternoon, with my mom and a family friend. The 3 of us, ordered: Apps — 2 orders Xiao Long Bao, 1 order of scallion pancakes and 1 order of jellyfish. Entrees — Something called Fried Yellow Croaker, Seafood Pan Fried noodles and a Tomato n Tofu Soup, and supposedly one of their specialities. a Sushi Pizza(O.o). Now, normally, I would expect them to bring out the Apps first. then when the Apps were cleared away, the entrees. Guess that’s only how«Americans» eat. –_– They brought out EVERYTHING at once. and obviously, not all the plates could fit. I complained to the manager about this. And you know what she said? «You shouldn’t have ordered so many dishes at once.» WHAT!!! B*T*H. are you stupid? wow. Well, what can I say. you can’t teach common-sense. I was born in Shanghai and raised there for a few years, so I know what real Shanghainese cuisine is. The Xiao Long Bao’s, no further comment, other than I’d rather pay $ 2 more, and make the trip to Flushing for Joe’s Shanghai’s Xiao Long Bao’s. I took a pic of every dish that we had. That Fried Yellow Croaker. Mind you, for those of you who don’t know what a Yellow Croaker is. It’s a FISH. When the dish came, I shit you not, I thought someone took a dump and put it on our plate. When the waiter set the plate down, I was like, «What. In. The. Fuck.» The Sushi Pizza. WOW. That was. weird. Now, I LOVESUSHI. I LOVEPIZZA. But these 2 things don’t go together. Simply, it was scallion pancakes, covered with some spicy mayo, minuscule pieces of tuna, avocado, and some other stuff. Presentation was nice. Lots of nice colors. Taste? Meh. I wouldn’t order it again. Oh and to cap things off. towards the end of the meal, I asked for a glass of cold water. The waiter brought over a glass of cold water, that still had someone else’s lip print on the rim! Holy fuck. REALLY? Damnn. have some fuckin standards. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Save yourselves the time and $$. **Call me harsh, call me unfair, call me over-critical. I don’t care. I’m 100% Chinese, specifically, Shanghainese. Therefore, I have the right to criticize Chinese food, cuz I know my shit. I’ve had better cooked«Americanized Chinese» food at the local takeout place, than this bona-fide restaurant**

I liked these soup dumplings more than the ones you can find at Joe’s Shanghai. I think the vinegar dipping sauce also tasted better. I don’t know why, but I opted for a sushi lunch combo after our soup dumpling appetizer. Should’ve got noodles or something instead. It was ok. For 2 rolls and a miso soup, you can’t beat the price. Service was spotty. The waiters were more interested in the big table next to us.
