I get the fried dumplings which are four for 1.25. Can’t really beat the price and they are filling. Not the best ever but good. They are very quick to serve. Haven’t tried anything else because I only stop in for the small bite.

You ever heard of stories where like twins get separated at birth, adopted, then go on to live wildly different lives without ever knowing they have a twin brother/sister? Like, they grow up in different countries, speaking different languages, and don’t even know the other exists. Then, the one whose adoptive parents own an industrial engineering company in Delaware goes to Yale and then studies abroad in Istanbul. The twin whose parents are hippy missionary world travelers will be working in a café in Istanbul and will like serve the other twin Turkish coffee and they’ll make eye contact and, even though they can’t speak to each other because they speak different languages, they will instantly feel that unconditional love for each other. That kinda shit happens; look it up. That’s how me and the Zhu Ji Dumpling Stall are. Idk if the stall and I are like blood-related or not, but the metaphor still applies. It’s like we were meant to be together. Although I don’t speak the language of either the stall or any of the stall’s employees, we understand each other. By now, the lady knows exactly what I want, and sometimes even smiles. Anyways, I always order 8 dumplings for $ 2.50 and go the fuck to town on those little gems. I would say I go there an average of 1 time per day, which means sometimes I got more than once. There are lots of more hyped dumpling spots in Flushing AKA Dumpling Capitol of the United States, but none that I hold more dearly than Zhu Ji. Family Over Everything.

What can I say this is my go to stall for dumplings when in Flushing. They are plump juicy hot and tasty. The location is a order and go mainly. There is a seating area that’s tight and small with 2 stools. I grab me a stoll a dozen dumplings and use the watered down Sriracha and dumpling sauce and eat away. The staff takes some time to get used to. I go so much I walk by they stop me and will ask how many. I have ordered frozen to go dumplings and buns all turned out nice when I prepared as they directed me to. I have tried the fried noodles and veggie rolls. For the price they are filling and good In the sitting area it may not be the cleanest but the food is cheap and good. For good cheap dumplings if in area try them

Very tasty dumplings and potstickers. Their counter opens up to the street so you don’t even have to step inside to order. Service is essentially nonexistent, and ordering your food is a less than a minute ordeal. The dumplings are not overly oily, the skin is a bit thick but not too much so, and the filling is very satiating. I would compare this to Prosperity Dumpling in Manhattan, but Zhu Ji is arguably much less accustomed to non-locals, so be sure to be clear and efficient when ordering.

The première dumpling place in Flushing. The go to spot for the locals. All the other reviews are true. Can’t take too big of a bite as you might eat all the filling by accident. Some complained about too much oil, you have no standing when you are ordering fried dumplings and the word fried is in it. Otherwise, you can get the steam/boiled dumplings. If you are ordering dumplings, you got to get the pork. I heard a 5 year kid said, «OMG, this is so good». The filling is more flavorful than other dumpling shops in Flushing. Other items are good as well(pork & vegetable buns n the dou fu) Its a no nonsense ordering. Food is provided at the spot or is ready within minutes. I’m not sure why they have english names on the menu. Giving the illusion that they speak English. When I tried to speak in english, the staff responded in chinese. When I was younger, I tried to ask questions one time about food she recommended, she stated that she didn’t have time for that and just told me to order. It can be a tough place to order for non chinese speakers. Its even worse for broken chinese speaker like myself. I tried my broken chinese and she just ignored me. Morale of the story, should have stayed longer in chinese school when I was younger. One day it will be helpful– for situation like this.

I’d give it ten stars. Cheap and filling and ridiculously yummy. Been consistently going back for their guo tie(pan-fried dumplings) since 2013. Language can be an issue at Zhu Ji, so bring a Mandarin speaker if you’re uncomfortable with that. You could also just point at the signage for what you want.

The skin of the dumpling is to thick and the meat is not as fatty and juicy as I would like it.

One of my favorite places to get great food to go in the area. You get great chinese comfort food like pan fried buns, dumplings, and fried crullers. This is the same type of food you would find in Asia. The price point is really unbeatable for the quality.

I have been coming here for years . Back in the day these dumpling stalls were out in the street. There were many stalls or food carts selling these delicious dumpling and pork buns moved into small shops. This dumpling stall is the bomb . Delicious dumpling, pork buns, scallion cakes and many appetizers sold here. Cheap food and quick service. This place is booming with people by noon, lots of activity. Speaking Chineese helps, but not necessary. just point and they get it . They have frozen dumplings if you want to take home and cook. a big bag of frozen dumplings for 11 dollars. The seating area is only two seats, so don’t expect to dine or munch in. It is a very crowded small shop, looks dirty as heck .but I don’t care … Come and get some dumplings won’t cost you much to try …

I swear I thought this spot served better food not that long ago. Conveniently located near the Flushing-Chinatown shuttles and the LIRR, it’s hard to resist dropping by this stand purely out of convenience. My most recent experience was a miss. The sheng jian bao(pan fried pork buns) had a gumdrop size of meat, no juice and way too much dough. The skin of the potstickers was too hard and about a third of mine were already cracked open– with no juice whatsoever. The salty bean curd milk was the only thing that seemed worth getting– topped with savory pickled radish that cut through the milky soy. While the food here isn’t top notch street food, the prices reflect this fact($ 1.25 for 4 potstickers, $ 2 for 4 pan fried buns, $ 1.25 for soy milk). The solution IMO is to charge a bit more and use the $ to put a bit more meat in their buns!

Cheap? Yes. Delicious? No. You get what you pay for. Tried their pot stickers and their pan fried buns. The pot stickers were just ok. The skin was way too hard. The dough on the pan fried buns were way too thick. And there was no juice at all. I also tried their big pan fried chive pancake before, there were hardly any chives inside and the skin was too hard. There are better places in flushing for sure

The original 25 cent dumpling place! I started coming to Zhu Ji as a kid because at that time it was the only food that #1, I could afford(dolla dolla bills anyone!?) and #2, tasted so good it was like crack! Since then, fast forward 10+ years, I just don’t know about this place anymore! The skin is thick, tasteless and greasy. The meat inside still tastes the same but I feel like they’ve gotten cheaper with it over the years. One of my biggest pet peeves are dumplings with thick skin and very little meat filling! Zhu Ji unfortunately, has fallen into this category. They serve other food here but nothing is really as good as the dumplings and even the dumplings are just an oily fried mess now. The place also isn’t that clean.

I remember when zhu ji used to be a food cart right just outside of mega academy– tutoring school. During the break, All the asian kids would swarm out and line up for the food. My mom gave me $ 2 for lunch and it got my share of dumplings and scallion pancakes. That was 12 years ago. Now whenever I stop by flushing, I get nostalgic of those times and would go back to buy a vegetable pork bun. Even though prices are higher than I remember as a kid, I can’t help but enjoy the food as I scarf it down. I no longer get the dumplings because they have so much bun and not a lot of meat. The vegetable pork bun, in my opinion, is worth it and very filling as a snack. I will always come back because it brings me memories of when I was a kid.

I realize that every time I come here I have to do complicated math just to order my dumplings. And contrary to popular belief not all asians are good at math thus the headache I get when I stand here looking at the menu. To me this place used to be a 4 star dumpling spot. For years I have been eating their fried dumplings and have even gotten a parking ticket while waiting here on a dumpling run. But when the price rose to $ 1.25 for 4 dumplings this place became less appealing to me. Not because of the extra quarter but its the fact that the staff get very impatient with you and shout at you when they don’t know what you want. They somehow understand some cantonese but can’t understand that I want 5⁄6 portions. 20 dumplings not $ 20 worth. $ 7.50 worth of dumplings is what I order now to make my experience less stressful and sometimes I will throw in a soybean milk or herbal tea drink to go with the tasty fried dumplings. They also have hot soy milk that comes in a soup container. I like the crispier thicker skin of the fried dumplings not as soggy as other places and top it off with the vinegar based soy sauce and sriracha they keep around. this place is basically a to go place as it is dinghy inside and there are only two seats and barely enough room to walk inside and order. I also like the soy pudding they have as well as the pork and leek buns which taste like the dumpling filling inside a small steamed bun. They seem to transfer their premade dumplings by tricycle to their store from their kitchen so be prepared for food that may have faced the elements. Still pleasing enough to satisfy my dumpling cravings especially when I want to grab a cheap dinner after getting off the chinatown van. Just be prepared for less than hospitable treatment.

If you don’t like dirty, and rude people, my advice to you is to steer away from this place. They don’t like pansies. I grew up eating literally everything on their menu almost every day. These are by far the best dumplings, mei fun, pork buns, and fried vegetable pork buns I’ve ever had in my life time. The dumplings and buns are juicy, flavorful, and the taste is always consistent. The staff may be rude and the spot is a total mess, but honestly that’s how old school Chinese people operate things(ex: white bear).

I am a huge fried dumpling fan, but the fried dumplings here are so oily it’s actually hard to eat. The oil over powers everything not to mention it’s extremely hard to digest, I burp dumplings for the next couple of hours. The pork buns here are 95% percent bread 5% percent meat no balance at all. Don’t take too big of a bite you may eat all the meat without noticing. The only reason for the 2 stars is the spring rolls, after draining the oil with 2 paper towels, the spring rolls are extremely tasty. If you enjoy vegetable spring rolls traditional style this is the spot!

4 big, greasy, juicy pan fried dumplings for $ 1.25 to start. It’s good but I don’t go out of my way here that much because there’s nowhere to eat and I don’t fancy bringing my food into Starbucks and being one of THOSE people, or bringing my food onto the subway and stinking it up like one of THOSE people. It is literally a hole in the wall and I don’t think you’re supposed to eat at the counter… not that you have the room to! The staff here aren’t that friendly, and you have to really speak up to get your order in, but that’s par for the course in Flushing like the dirty interior. I have to admit I’m also not surprised to see them serving raw pork. It’s the risk you take dining in Flushing for cheap eats. You can also go to Golden Mall for 12 dumplings at $ 3, and a place to devour them in peace without being judged.

Best dumplings in Flushing? Yes. The place is a dump though and you really question if it’s safe to eat anything form them. But you do. No one there speaks English so don’t expect to have a conversation about what they might recommend. Then again the only thing worth having is an order of dumplings. No place to sit, just a dirty counter with squeeze bottles of their dumpling sauce. Still, in a weird way it has personality. You feel as though you stepped off the plane in Beijing and the cab driver played a joke by dropping you somewhere in the slums. As you constantly monitor your surroundings and check the butt sensor to make sure your wallet is still in your back pocket you succumb to the locale and munch on the juiciest pot stickers you’ve ever had. Then you wonder, what’s in these dumplings? And is that ladyboy over there? They are delicious!

Yuck! This place is disgusting!!! They were serving uncooked pork and chive dumplings. The meat was still red inside. I wouldnt mind if this was beef but this is pork. Have fun eating here if you like worms(Trichinosis) swimming around your stomach! I definitely feel like throwing up now! STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE!

Since the place under the LIRR tracks closed, this is THE spot in Flushing now to get some cheap Chinese stall food. You can eat like a king for $ 5. Their fried dumplings and their pork buns were all very delicious. The spring rolls are also very good — very crispy and flavorful. I will definitely be back again and again here if I am in the mood for some some cheap, greasy grub.
