We adored this place like home away from home for us. We missed the jerky contest humbly titled a Jerk Off lol but we got the phở. THISISNOTTRADTIONAL phở but omg it was heaven. It was a cold day and the phở hit the spot. The brooth. the meats… the veggies… the noodles so many flavors so amazing. We were both in love and pray next year when we return we can devour another bowl. The atmosphere was very local yet absolutely welcoming. The bartender Charles? Was so familiar and a great bartender. Laughter galore, wonderful live music, outdoor setting and Red Stripe beer available. We loved every min. of our cold stay. Décor was hip and the place itself just so fun. We are definately returning next year!!! I keep dreaming bought that phở.

Coming to this restaurant was more like crashing Willie Nelsons hippie after-party. It was awesome! I think the beers were 1 dollar a pop, and the cool band was playing like 8 instruments. The goat bowl & tacos were great! Don’t expect a traditional dining experience(you won’t get one here), There are dogs chillin and free spirited people just hangin out by the beach, groovin to the music. Sooo casual, anything goes.

I’m surprised at all the folks reviewing this as a restaurant. I was not even aware they had food… However, they do have a great selection of beers(Fullsteam!!!) for fairly cheap, and great live music. I would characterize it as southern hipster dive bar… reminded me of He’s Not in Chapel Hill. I’d totally go back here again.

This restaurant has a cool beach vibe. With its outdoor seating area and casual servers, you feel like you are at a party at your friend’s house. The menu is limited(beans and rice, tacos), so don’t go if you are a finicky eater. They have a large beer selection and very reasonable prices. Park on the street, but make sure your tires are not on the road because you’ll get a ticket. Very close to the beach and Centre Street, and across from Bert’s Market. Great hang out spot when you just want to chill.

Definitely a locals spot. We had the fish tacos which were pretty good. The flies were out of control. We bar hopped for apps at most places in Folly that had outside seating and this was the only place overrun by flies. I wanted the Ragler beer, but they were out of a lot of things including my Ragler. I get that it’s supposed to be a «divey» place and I love«divey» places but this place took it a bit too far if you asked me — some chairs were almost unusable. Sorry, Not my thing.

Came for casual dinner and it is backyard casual here. Definitely a locals spot. Ordered at the bar and due to a busy weekend out of many beers, two beers on tap rest are in bottles. The eating«area» and I use that term loosely comprised two recycled four tops with swivel seating(think old style McDonalds tables sunk into the dirt and gravel) a couple picnic tables and one or two small patio tables in addition to the outdoor bar seating. All of this is under large trees and the bugs are hungry. There is a little stage where live music is presented. For the food. Tacos three choices chicken, pork, fresh caught Mahi Mahi. I liked the pork tacos the best. Served on soft tortillas and with the salsa which has some heat along with the slaw. Very runny so eat quickly over the gravel for a clean escape. The black beans and rice is a portion that could feed four people. The Carribean spices are set to hot so not suitable for kids or normal adult palates. It was fine for me but I love very hot«native» hot foods. Very cheap eats and really more of a dive bar with a little food thrown in. If they invested a little money for seating and added a couple more food items could be some potential.

Spent the day at Folly and was told by locals to hunt and peck for places to eat vs. assuming the only options were visible on the main strip. Did some research online and found Chico Feo. Acted like total tourists and tried to order lunch at the front of the house(front is for breakfast, btw). It’s super casual and outdoors so be prepared. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first sight but lunch did not disappoint. Holy wow, the tacos! AMAZING. I’m still thinking about them. Absolutely delicious. Go here! Order the tacos. You will not be disappointed.

OK, so I went here for lunch one day and I was the only one there. I sat at the bar and got prompt and friendly service. They have some good beer on tap and $ 8 for 3 tacos is apretty good deal. Now that is where the good stops. The selection is slim, only 3 tacos to choose from. After I ordered, the bartender went in the back to make the food, I could see through the window into the kitchen and watched as he made my tacos without using any gloves, it was hot and he had been sweating a lot. I almost didnt eat them but I was hungry and im sure I have had worse in my life without knowing it, so I ate them. Only one was any good and it was just OK, the tortillas were great but what was in them was not.

Great food and cool atmosphere. Service was friendly but a little stand offish. It was hard to pin down the bar tender/server and actually place an order with them. I got the beans and rice with pork and my other half got the fish tacos. I want to go back for the pork tacos!

Folly is pretty laid back everywhere but this place makes it feel like you are in the islands and life can’t get much easier. It is all outdoors but shaded. How you order and the front of the house vs the back of the house is a little difficult if it is your first time. It would be nice for some instructions somewhere. But the front is breakfast foods and shakes and the back is lunch and adult beverages.

I hate to say I didn’t love it here. I was visiting Folly for the week and stayed across the street from this bar, which I visited twice. The main reason I didn’t really enjoy myself too much was the vibe because it was so «locals only» which just wasn’t for me considering I was just visiting the area. Everyone was friendly, but it just felt cliquey. We decided to come back another night to give it another chance, but that time they ran out of sangria and certain beers a few hours before closing when I tried to order. Maybe the vibe is different during weekends or when bands are playing but I didn’t enjoy it the two weeknights I stopped by.

We came for tacos and a beer. We ordered it all together. A half hour later, the food had not arrived and multiple parties who arrived after us were served. I asked if our food order had been put in, and was told it was not. We waited another 45 minutes for food. When we got it, it was not what we had ordered. During the time we were there, more than an hour, we were not asked once if we wanted anything else. Also during our time there, people who were obviously locals were served food and beer continuously. I will not be going back.

Stumbled upon this place too late on our vacation. Wish we could have spent more time here. Staff was inviting despite the local vibe, really made us feel welcome :)

This place has a cool atmosphere and I loved the pork tacos but I didn’t feel especially welcome. The guys working clearly cater to the regulars that frequent the place, which is understandable, but I don’t want to feel like the red-headed step-child because I’m a tourist. They should also disclose that the pork tacos come with a cole slaw mixture that seems to have mayo in it. I liked it but the person I was with hates mayo so the taco was a major disappointment for him.

Cool outdoor random bar with an expat fell, some good music, Tecate in the can, funky local flavor and good people running the place, great use of space and fido friendly, great place to cool off

The concept is near perfect — imagine having a great friend that lives at the beach and you get to hang out in his backyard whenever you’re out there. That’s Chico Feo. They have a limited menu with some specials that will treat you right. Notably, some killer tacos and a great Asian inspired noodle bowl. Additionally, there are some Mexican beers available as well as some heady craft beers. In the cool weather you just might even get to enjoy a fire pit. Fantastic staff and ownership lends to an experience that screams ‘Folly beach’.

I will return to Folly Beach just to experience Chico Feo again. Charlie and Sam are true inspirations. The atmosphere, people, dogs, etc. make this place a very very special place to visit while you’re at Folly Beach. The highlight of our trip so far! Hope to return again someday soon and experience life the way it should be :-)

I wouldn’t consider this a restaurant, by any means — more of a bar that happens to serve tacos as well. Not that it’s a bad thing at all — we really enjoyed our visit to this super chill hangout! We took a break from the beach to sit at the bar & enjoy several Samurai Slings(cucumber-infused sake & lemonade) which were simply light & refreshingly fantastic! The menu is listed on the wall, but it’s basically tacos(pig, fish & chicken), beans & rice, or goat curry(which they were out of). I ordered one of each of the tacos, & hubs had the pork tacos as well, all of which were really tasty! Loved the pork, which had slices of peach in it. It’s a simple place — they offer beer, Coca-Cola, or water — nothing else. Everything is very reasonably priced, and locals enjoy hanging out here as well as tourists. We loved the chill vibe & chatting with the bartender, Charlie. They do have live music at night, and would have liked to come back for the bluegrass band playing later that night. We’ll def return to enjoy another chill afternoon with a Samurai Sling!
