Sorry folks, knocking it down to one star. Too many mistakes. Went back recently to purchase an uncirculated sterling silver dollar. Keep in mind, not a proof just uncirculated. I walked up to the store front and the lady working there was outside having a smoke. She said she would come back in momentarily. So I waited. When she was done smoking she unlocked the gate back into the store, I followed her in then she asked me what I was interested in. I told her and she grabbed a white tubular object and dumped about 12 «uncirculated» dollars into her hand. She handled several of them touching them everywhere except on the rim of the coins. She picked one out then shoved the remaining coins back into the white tube using the ball of her thumb on the face of the last coin to get them back in. It was interesting watching her do this as she had the longest nails I have ever seen. Had it been me I would have just used the tip of my nail and not do thumb gymnastics. Anyway, in about a month her fingerprints are going to appear on the coin I purchased but I was torn. I bought it as a gift for a guest from Canada to commemorate their visit to the United States. I would have asked for a replacement coin but her fingerprints were all over the entire set. It was only $ 20 and I needed the gift immediately so I kept my mouth shut but I will never buy coins here again and I have purchased several expensive collectibles here in the past. Good thing gold doesn’t tarnish.

I’m a physician in Folsom and have dealt with this shop for over 5 years now, They were extremely helpful and competent in helping us to liquidate two different estates of coins we had to sell. After checking with over 5 different local coin shops, I can say that Tim the owner was competent, honest, and professional in all aspects and gave my family a fair value for our estate. If you have an estate to liquidate, I can highly recommend them without reservations. You will be treated fairly and with the utmost respect.

Was able to sell some silver coins. While not top dollar, definitely a fair price. Got some really good advice on some other coins I was curious about. The owner was nice and personable.

Folsom coin and currency is by far one of the most reputable and knowledgable coin and currency dealers in Northern Calif. I have been dealing with him for many years, and have always left that store feeling like I got a great deal and also educated on things I don’t know or understand. I read one of the previous reviews of someone saying they did not test their gold because it wasn’t stamped. I’m here to tell you I have witnessed them testing people’s gold on countless occasions so that accusation is totally false! It only takes a second to test metal and they always do that for the customer and as well for their own safety. They are by far the most fair and honest coin dealers within a 300 mile radius. Coins are my passion and I don’t just deal with anyone! If you want the real deal in the coin world go down there and ask to talk to Tim, you will not be disappointed!

I came here today at the recommendation of my brother – he’s been buying Liberty coins every so often and putting them aside for his infant son and nephew(my son) – as an alternative to keeping money in a savings acct that accrues a pathetic amount of interest(!) So, I had a little set aside for my son and decided that having cash set aside was laughable – so, not being a huge fan of banks – I headed over to the coin shop! This place is a coin collector’s dream – I’m a semi fan of coins and I was happy here! The liberty coin is just gorgeous looking – it’s one ounce of silver and the current rate is, I believe $ 19 something? The people here were so friendly and helpful and didn’t make me feel dumb for asking novice questions! I will def, be back once I save up more money for him!

Watch out for this place. horrible customer service and total lack of knowledge. I wanted to compare offers, so I visited this this place yesterday to sell some old gold jewelry. I had been to 2 other gold buyers who had examined my jewelry and made me offers($ 1620.00& $ 1585.00). The guy who helped me was condescending as he looked at my jewelry and told me he didn’t think it was worth anything because it wasn’t «stamped». I explained I had already visited 2 other jewelers who had tested the jewelry(not to mention I’m the person who originally bought the jewelry) and just wanted to compare. He rudely asked for the assistance of a female who abruptly agreed — if its not stamped, we can’t tell if its real. What? they are gold buyers? They didn’t bother to do a single test, get out the jewelers’ loupe or anything. I feel like they just didn’t have the cash for the items, so they made me like I had brought in junk. The business, and employees came off as completely unprofessional and incompetent. I went and got the $ 1620.00 from the Gold Guys.

Just the best and most knowledgeable coin shop in the Sacramento area. Coins are correctly graded and priced very fair. I have found some and most all online coin dealers ‘up-grade’ their coins to sell them at a higher price or sell at the ‘right’ price– so you think you are getting a ‘deal’. This is NOT the case with Folsom Coin & Currency. I have been going to this business for many many years and he stays in business because he is fair and ethical and very knowledgeable and a ‘straight-shooter’. Go to another shop to get ‘schmoozed’ into buying something that isn’t worth it-go here and you won’t be disappointed.

This guy is great — Nice, knowledgeable and Fair. I inherited a 1oz gold coin from my grandmother. The coin was not in mint condition and had been set as a pendant, so I knew I wasn’t going to get market value($ 1600) for the coin. I took it to different places around town, jewelers and other coin dealers. The best offer I got was $ 800. I was trying to hold out for at least $ 1000. I took the coin here and he gave me $ 1400! I recommend this place Highly!
