So I am happy to see that the owner Rachel replied to my review. I have four children, so that aspect is not really a concern. Was just hoping for a more old school coffee experience. I do think that Rachel is a great owner and fills a niche in the market.

I’m so sad this placed closed. I loved to meet my girlfriends for coffee with our kids. It was nice to have the kids play while my friends and I got to catch up. I also loved Rachel. Such a sweet and loving woman. I’m so sad.

A friend told me about this place, so I came to check out Java Mama w/my 2&4 year-old. Rachel — the owner — greeted us right away and explained how everything works. After signing them in, my kids went right to playing. All the employees were super-friendly; the ladies were great w/the kids, and customers as well. I spent a couple hours of solid study time here while my kids played contently; they barely knew I was there! As I was ordering my coffee I told Rachel what a great shop she has, and that was when she informed me that it’s their last week — they’ll be closing @ the end of the month. There was a long letter penned by the owners of the circumstances under which they’re closing — completely understandable, but so sad to see them go! It sounds like they worked hard to have this great place for parents and kids to spend their time; it’s bittersweet to have found this place just as they are getting ready to close their doors. Thank you, Rachel for the wonderful place, great cup of coffee, and delicious cronut! Best of luck to you and your family in the future.

This place was pretty fun! Met up with a girlfriend who has a littlie(18 mo) and we tried to persuade her little one to going into the kids area… she was DEFINITELY interested, but wasn’t willing to take the full leap and go in by herself, she was quite attached to mama. It was still a nice place to sit and chat, the atmosphere was very upbeat. I ordered an ice blended mocha, and it was a bit watery and for $ 5.50, I would have rather gone to Starbucks… but I wanted to support the local business since I was going to be taking up a seat here. All together, I’d come back here sometime if I ever have kiddos– very chill place!

Interesting setup. Definitely a great place if you have youngens and are in need of some coffee. Friendly staff, delicious coffee drinks, and they offer healthy snack packs for kids.

Rachel, the owner, is awesome! Drinks and food are excellent. The idea of a coffee shop(or anything) + play area is a winner. My only complaint is with the«supervision» in the kids play area. I get that for $ 3.50 for 2 hours, I really shouldn’t expect the worker to do much more than keep my kid alive, but… that’s basically all she did. It would be a lot more successful for us if the play area worker was just a bit more involved with the kids.

What a cool idea for a coffee shop. They have a bar stool area that overlooks a kids play area and a couple baristas watch your kids as you can read or chat with friends. I had the caramel macchiato and it was pretty good. The staff was so friendly. They recognized my wife and son even after they hadn’t been in a few weeks. They were engaging and helpful in choice of drink to pick. Extremely helpful with the little ones.

My first time coming to this place with my friends. Basically, you purchase a cup of coffee, sit and enjoy while your kids play. Awesome concept. However, if your kids are under one year old they can play in the toddler area for free and walking kids you need to pay $ 3.50 for two hours,

Have been to Java Mama a handful of times and absolutely love the concept. It’s always clean and the staff is always pleasant. Rachel, the owner, is super sweet and personable. The Cronuts are pretty darn good. Minus one star because I’m not a huge fan of their espresso drinks, but appreciate that they are always made with love. Will definitely continue to come back when I need some mommy time.

I’ve been taking my son to Java Mama pretty regularly for the last year or so and I’ve always been impressed with the owner, Rachel, and her amazing attention to detail. Rachel makes a point to remember everyone who comes in — kids and parents alike. She always checks to make sure you’re enjoying your drink and she leaves you with a smile. My son loves the play area and I love the opportunity to catch up with friends while our kiddos are entertained. Last month we decided to host our son’s birthday party at Java Mama — they’re available on Sundays for private parties. We researched many places before we decided on Java Mama — most other places in Folsom are more expensive and provide less services(including park rentals). Hosting our party at Java Mama turned out to be the best decision! Rachel was there, along with two members of her team. They did all the setup and cleanup for us, acted as coordinators and kept the party flowing, and even passed out our cupcakes and took notes while my son opened presents. My husband and I received free drinks, our guests were given a carafe of coffee and the kids were served fancy chocolate milks. To top it off, Rachel sent me an email filled with pictures from our party — capturing moments we would have otherwise missed. I love Java Mama’s unique concept and Rachel is such a kind and caring person!

Omg what a great place! Stumbled upon this spot after having a tough lunch with our 3 kids. Yes I NEEDED an espresso! The fact they have & offer babysitting services while you sit & enjoy your coffee is amazing. The only thing missing is a drive-thru, as the drink I had here today was just as good if not better than my daily Starbucks & Peets habit, so on days I’m in a rush I would definitely do drive-thru here. Will def be back!

MMMMMM — GOOD! Ok — granted. So I’m not a ‘mom’ by typical standards. But I can qualify as a Mr. Mom from time to time… and this place is absolutely a god send! Simply, its great coffee and social playtime for the kids at your finger tips. A noticeable difference here is that Java Mama spared no consideration to the details. As you watch your kids engulfed in laughter just feet away while you enjoy a fantastic roast… you just may find yourself caught up in an unexpected moment. Try it. You’ll like it.

I absoluely love this coffee, great pastries and an amazing place for the kids to play while you sit back and enjoy! The owner is a wonderful, cheerful woman who always makes you feel welcome. As soon as we walk in the door my son runs to the play area, so i know he feels comfortable too. There is a seperate play area for older kids and babies and both sides have all the play things your child coul want: books, cars, dramatic play, dress up, puzzles, bouncers etc. it really diesnt get better for parents than java mama!

This coffee shop is a fantastic concept and I can only pray as a mother of twin 3yo that the idea will spread to the South Bay Area where I live before the kiddos grow up and drink coffee themselves. I was looking for a place to study while accompanying my boyfriend on a business trip of sorts and decided that I had to see this place in action. There are two areas designated for kids to play with gates, and the staff will supervise your children while you enjoy a cup with a friend(or a book! haha). I definitely enjoyed my chai latte and the cronut was amazingly soft and sweet. Obviously with children running around it’s not a super quiet place, but since I’m used to my own kids running around and yelling when I’m working at home, it was actually a great environment for me to study.

Just visited Java Mama for the first time! What a great place! My son had so much fun in the play area. All the toys were age appropriate for him and he love interacting with the other kids. You can tell the owner and her staff are passionate about their coffee and the kids. Super friendly. :) My son usually had a phobia about nursing with his mom in public but thankfully they had a private mommy room and he was able to nurse fine. Another thing I appreciated was a changing table in the men’s room. I had to use twice during our visit(thanks son!) They thought of everything. Most of all the coffee was amazing. :) Id come for the coffee alone. If you have a tot or not check out Java Mama!

We recently visited Java Mama Folsom on our way home from a South Lake Tahoe mini vacay. It was a perfect stop for us to refuel, stretch our legs, and grab some good brew before making the trek back to the Bay Area. We walked into the shop and were warmly greeted by Rachel, the owner. There was no one in line so Rachel was mingling with the customers and playing with the toddlers in the play area. Rachel quickly welcomed us and explained to us about how the shop is set up. Basically, kids can play in a supervised area while parents can sip coffee, eat delicious cronuts, and be momentarily kid free: D It sounds too good to be true! We need something like this in San Jose. Stat! This place is perfect for kids’ playdates, mommy group meetings, or just a sanity break from your kid(s). Folsom is almost exactly the midway point from San Jose to South Lake Tahoe. This will be our new pit-stop from here on out. Rachel and her staff not only warmed our tummies with yummy treats, they warmed our hearts as well.

I don’t have any kids so I was here for the coffee and CRONUTS! The coffee is REALLY good! Very smooth and I was very happy with my soy latte. I also had a CRONUT. Although I haven’t tried one from NY, this one is more like a soft glazed croissant. It’s good but a little too sweet for me. The noise level here is a little high with the kids and glass windows so the noise does bounce around a bit. Rachel is very sweet and very personable. It’s nice to have a local business here. I would definitely recommend to moms with young kids. Thumbs up for great coffee!

What’s not to love about this place? I know my wife works hard throughout the day taking care of our four year old son and looks forward to a jolt of caffeine from time to time. At Java Mama, she can enjoy a cup of coffee or chai tea(in peace) while my energetic son is playing with the other kids in a supervised play area. I am not a coffee drinker, but I felt right at home in this cozy shop. I had a chance to chat with the owner(Rachel), and am hoping that her shop lives up to its enormous potential. She is smart, passionate, and is fantastic in a customer facing role. Her energy and smile is contagious, and it has seemed to rub off on the rest of the staff. As a father, I wouldn’t mind taking my son here to play on those rare days when mom just needs a break. However, chances are my wife may already be here enjoying her favorite drink.
