I had Robert make a key for me today and he was able to get it working on the first try. The process didn’t take long at all, and he provided me with a spare metal key incase anything happened to my main key in the future.
Most places I found a hard time to get it done, saying that my 2012 honda civic was a laser key and had advanced security and had to be done at a dealership which would have cost twice as much as what Rob charged.

Just got off the phone with the representative that answered their 1−888−81-LOCKS number. It sounds like some referral company and the person who answered was not competent. I just wanted them to unlock and make keys for a truck bed cover. After explaining that multiple times and being on hold while she checked twice with someone else she asked me for a VIN number and started quoting prices. When I repeated this was not related to the VIN and calmly asked to speak with someone more knowledgeable she hung up. Perhaps if I had called the other number on the website I would have had better luck… but I chose to go elsewhere.

Outrageous prices. $ 295 to unlock a front door. A locksmith I know in the Bay Area, where things are usually more expensive, says we got taken and shouldn’t have been charged more than $ 99 max.

I needed a second set of keys and fob for my 2004 Acura. That requires cutting the key, matching it to the car’s security system and computer, and programming the remotes. Quite involved. Posted experiences with Honda/​Acura dealerships were mixed, but Robert at Locksmith Central came recommended.
Called Robert and he could fit me in the same morning. Since I didn’t expect him to stock transponder keys and remotes for every car out there, I came prepared and brought a Honda transponder key blank and an aftermarket fob, both of which I got online.
Robert cut the key and it worked right off the bat. He then programmed the key to work with the car’s security and electronics, and that worked right off the bat as well. He then programmed the second fob, and, again, he got it right on the first try.
All work took less than an hour, and the charge was far less than what I would have had to pay at a dealership. Excellent service, excellent job. Highly recommended.

Horrible experience. The gentlemen that helped me was extremely rude. He acted like he didn’t want to do his job. He treated me with disrespect and had 0 customer service. Avoid this business like the plague. Will never do service with them again. If I could rate this place with 0 stars I would. Don’t understand how this place is still in business.

We called Locksmith Central after waiting two hours for another locksmith who never showed up. It took a bit longer than the 20 minutes the guy told me on the phone; but when he arrived, the locksmith was very apologetic for the delay and he was extremely courteous, polite, and absolutely professional. He was able to get the keys out of our car less than a minute!

I had 2 deadbolt issues today at my home that needed to be serviced. After leaving a message, Robert called me back within a few minutes. Within the hour, he was at my door, fixed one deadbolt, changed out the other, along with a door knob/​key set, all for a reasonable price. No hidden surprises, or agenda. My daughter lost her keys and they needed to have a special chip so we couldn’t buy a key at Lowes or where ever. Mazda said it would be over $ 200 to get a new one. But they also said that locksmiths can often do the same thing for cheaper. We called Locksmith Central and they made us a new key for $ 95 and also said that since we had AAA they would probably pay for it!

They fixed it! Told me they’d be there in 20 minutes and showed up in three hours (did knock $ 10 off the total). It was a beast of a problem that I had spent five hours on. He fixed it in just over an hour working intensely on the ignition lock cylinder. Saved me quite a bunch if I had to tow it and have a mechanic fix it in who knows how many days. Very professional. Impressive cars with all kinds of tools in them and willing to travel all over. Only thing that prevented 5 stars was the promised time and way late arrival.

I had a great experience with Rob at Locksmith Central. Getting a second car key was tricky in my case because I only had the valet key, but he took the extra time to do it right. He was the most affordable (I called several places) and was fast and reliable. He was able to clearly explain what he was doing when programming and why he was doing it which showed he is really experienced. I bought a used Volkswagen Jetta, which only came with one key. Unfortunately, it’s one of those fancy-​shmancy jobbers that has a transponder chip in it, so I couldn’t just bebop over to Agent Orange (Home Depot), my usual quick-​n-​dirty key cutter. I started my research by talking with several Volkswagen dealers (including Elk Grove and Niello), who cheerfully offered to cut and program a basic valet key (no door remote) for $ 200+, and prices for one to match my current spiffy one — with a switch-​blade-​like-​flip-​out key and remote lock — started at over $ 300. So I started poking around on the internet again. I had found third-​party keys starting at $ 69, but the dealers’ warnings that they had never been successful in programming a key ordered off the internet (which I’m sure was probably part of their sales pitch to force me to buy one of theirs) nagged at the back of my brain. So I started searching for an ALOA-​certified locksmith in my area, which lead me to Locksmith Central. I had spoken with a couple of locksmiths that charged $ 125 to $ 150 just for the programming, which was about what the dealers charged. Then I noticed that Locksmith Central was very local for me, so I gave him a call, and he told me it would be quick, easy, and only around $ 75 – 80.
In short, Robert was great. I set up an appointment for the next morning, went over to his place of business. An hour later (he was interrupted by a couple of phone calls), I left with a perfectly functional valet key (he didn’t have the remote fobs in stock, but told me he could probably program the more inexpensive ones I had seen on
) plus a free extra door key for emergency lockouts — all for only $ 85 including tax.
So, if you are in need of a replacement transponder key for your car and live in the Sacramento/​El Dorado Hills area, I definitely recommend Locksmith Central. And if you want one of the more fancy fobs with the remote entry, try

Bob fixed my car ignition key which was going bad… he was great. Quickly done and didn’t try to sell unneccessary stuff. 4 star because maybe a little bit pricey, but I’ll definitely go back to him.
