I’ve been using these guys off and on for over a decade. Sure, the staff can have a little attitude at times but they are good at what they do(& at the end of the day, that’s what I’m after in a PC repair shop). They also sell machines that are pretty solid and are tough to beat on price. These places are disappearing left and right but this one has been here for a long time, that in itself should tell you something.

I came here to replace the broken screen on my iPhone 5. I probably should of went to an iPhone repair place but I didn’t have that much time so I decided to take it here although its a computer repair store. The next day my phone was acting up and still is. The person who replaced my broken screen did a horrible job and ever since then it makes it 100 times harder for me to even use my phone. When I press a button it goes to something different. Do not take your phone here. I would bring my phone back so they can fix it but I was only visiting and live in San Diego.

Got referred here from a friend years ago, and I’ve been back many times. Always pleased with the service I receive. These guys are usually quick to turn a job around, and seem to be very knowledgeable compared to other computer services I’ve used in the past. Prices are fair. They’ve even done a few easy fixes for free on the spot for me. Forget the dork squad and go see these guys.

I’m not one to ever rate a store 1 star but my experience was ridiculous. I brought my computer in because I was experiencing trouble when I powered it on, I saw a blue screen. So I took it in for a diagnostic which was $ 75 dollars. Okay. That’s fine. That is what the guy quoted me on. He mentioned what it could be and threw around some prices but we agreed upon $ 75 or otherwise call me. He also told me it was going to be around an hour to check everything out. So I come back in an hour and they said nothing was wrong with the first test so they’re doing another one. That’s all they said. Never mentioned anything else. So then they said to pick it up around 12 the next day… Okay, fine. I was there the next day to pick it up & go over what was wrong, they said that everything was fine & everything tested okay. So then when I go to pay they said 110 and some change. For testing & apparently a tune up that I NEVER talked about. I was floored. I told the guy that I never agreed upon that & that is ridiculous. He just stared at me. it was very awkward & displeaseful. After him seeing that I was apparently really bothered he went on to say that«I can can cut you a break and make it 100 even» So I payed. I payed $ 100 for testing a computer that had zero problems and for a tune up that I didn’t ask for. In case you are wondering, my computer still runs the same. I am still very bitter about the experience and I will never use their service again. I advise the same.

The guys working here are my heroes! I was in Portland OR and my laptop went belly up. I stopped in the local Best Buy and the Geek Squad said my motherboard was toast and suggested I buy a new PC. The entire drive home using my mobile phone I was researching my options for a new computer. I had taken my husband’s laptop to the PC Components store when it had a hard drive failure so I figured I had nothing to loose to take it to them and get a second opinion. They determined it was my video chip and fixed it for under $ 200.

I’d been running in and out of this place for years picking up this and that. When it came time to buy a new system I was very happy to buy from them and did not even shop around. They were very helpful and helped me make a good decision based on my needs. Then, I got a virus. I know exactly where and when I got it jumping on a site that was pirating ESPN for 49ers vs. Ravens… so shame on me. It was new enough that nothing really important was on the machine yet and I took it back in and asked them to reformat it. They said that would be $ 111. In less than 90 minutes they called saying it was done. It was a new machine and I was sorta bitter about the extra $ 111 I hadn’t planned on spending but life goes on. Then it happened again. This time for no suspicious reason. I packed it up and took it back in thinkging the fact that the machine was less than three months old and had been reformatted once already that it would be a simple matter and the fellas would just re-start it again. This time the estimate was $ 129. The guy was nice enough but unflinching in the price. I did not engage and he told me how to do it myself. It was very easy. So easy, in fact, that I was a little bent that he didn’t offer that in the first place. Turns out, actually, that a system«restore» was all that was needed. My conclusion after all of this is that it is still a GREAT little shop but it is not a place for computer neophytes or those, like me, that just haven’t kept up. You’d better know what you are talking about… and in the appropriate techinical language… before you go in to transact anything. Seems more like a shop for IT professionals than for business owners/users and they do seem to take a certain level of computer accumen for granted.

I took my laptop into them on Monday, they fixed it quickly and I was very happy. When I got home to use it the wireless no longer worked. I figured something didn’t get reconnected and took it back in on Tuesday. The guy told me that sometimes the button doesn’t realign when they put it back together, I wasn’t upset that had happened — he said it would be a couple of hours. I took my kids and ran errands, 2.5 hours later came back to a laptop that hadn’t even been started yet. I asked when it would be ready they said, «A couple of hours.» I ended up without my computer for the entire day. I am a photographer and had at this point lost two days work during my most busy time of year — when it should have only been one. I wasn’t upset that they messed up the repair, I was however very upset that they didn’t make my repair a priority when they were the ones that screwed up. When I picked it up and I expressed my frustration the guy just said, yeah well the tech just didn’t get to it yet. Dear PC Component, when you screw up you should make that customer your priority and not make them miss work — if it means postponing your lunch, whatever it takes, you fix your mistake. Mistakes happen, but bad customer service and disrespect are inexcusable. Not once did they apologize. I will not be going back because they didn’t respect me as a customer. I know they can fix computers and they seem knowledgeable, but they were not respectful of my time or my work.

These guys saved my system when I acquired a virus some time ago. I thought it and the hard drive were done for, but they quickly isolated the problem and got me back up in a day. The price was certainly fair, to boot. Do yourself a favor. If you have computer issues, go to a local independent tech with good ratings and stay away from the ‘big box’ repair centers. You won’t be sorry.
