The Barker Lounge

This is our 2^nd time at the Barker Lounge.
My son is a student at Swarthmore College– 5 minutes away– and we brought our cockapoo here for visiting weekend and this past weekend for an overnighter.
Everyone we encountered was very pleasant and caring.
They inquired about food, medication, habits and needs– even though our dog is very mild mannered, plays well with other dogs and is easy to care for.
it has been an seamless process from online reservations to easy drop off and pick up.
Would recommend the Barker Lounge for anyone visiting the area from out of town and wish to bring their dog for boarding.
They even give you comment cards about your dog’s experience!
I just wish they were closer to my home in NY for boarding when we are on vacation!

My husband and I were given a tour through the daycare and boarding and space and we were impressed by everything we saw! The staff was so friendly and everyone had a smile (even while wrangling a group of energetic dogs!). I know it’s a nuisance to do a tour through a dog facility because the dogs get worked up when they see visitors, but they were more than happy to let us through. They have more than a few separate play areas (maybe at least 5 that I saw) for dogs of all sizes or personalities. Plus outdoor space! Everything was clean and smelled clean, and definitely staffed very well.

The Barker Lounge is a must have for dog owners. Living in Delaware County, there is a dearth of really good places for dogs — the fact of the matter is those places take space, and there just isn’t a lot of it around these parts. Thankfully, The Barker Lounge makes very good use of what we do have.
Dogs are paired according to size and personality types. They play all day, and come home very tired, socialized, and happy. Our new puppy was driving us insane until we started taking him to daycare here to get out some of his energy. They’re also good for boarding, too.
It’s not the cheapest dog boarding you’ll find, but it’s definitely worth the premium. If you’re a dog owner in the Philadelphia region, definitely check out the Barker Lounge. You won’t be disappointed.

We had recently moved and needed to find a new place to get our dog groomed. Based on the glowing online reviews, I made an appt. The woman on the phone and everyone on the staff that I spoke to was very nice. However, the grooming job was just OK. Even though I left him there for 3 hours the cut looked hurried, compared to previous groomings.
Also, while there I noticed a sign on their counter offering clients a free day of doggie daycare for writing a glowing review online… so that explains that. Not sure I want to continue to give business to a place that buys/​extorts reviews!

The barker lounge did a great job with my Shih Tzu, Henry’s grooming. The groomer, Janine, was able to even fit my parents Shih Tzu, Pokey, in at the last minute, which was great. When I came to pick them up they smelled great and looked even better. And to top it all off, she gave us a discount for grooming both dogs. I will definitely be back.

I cannot recommend these guys enough.
I searched these guys out when I was planning my wedding and knew we’d be away for a week after the wedding. At the time our two golden retriever puppies were eight months old and bursting with energy. It broke my heart to thnk we’d have to put them in a place that would cage them for most of the day. Barker lounge was a god sent.
A) If you break down how much it costs to have your dog walked more than the normal amount (what, a few times a day?) at a regular kennel and what it costs to give your dogs «play time» at a normal kennel, the cost for Barker Lounge is comparable.
B) the staff is super friendly and you can tell they really are animal people.
When we pick up the dogs, the staff that bring them out from the kennel stay and talk about thier stay and continue to show them affection.
The BEST part about the Barker Lounge is that when your dogs come home, they are so exhausted from running around with all the other dogs that they sleep all day!
The dogs are separated by size and temperment, too, which is nice. The dogs that are «Accepted» as clients have been through a trial day where they stay for several hours and observed to make sure they are friendly with other dogs. The dogs are caged for feedings and sleep time.
One more bonus for Barker is they have reasonable grooming. We just had our goldens groomed for less then half the cost (same exact services) as the place we normally use. I imagine the dogs have to be regulars or staying overnight for the prices we recieved, but, hey, they saved us a trip to the groomers and some big bucks, so if you’re already their client, totally worth it.

I have been using the Barker Lounge since my bulldog Leo was a puppy! Watching him go to daycare @ The Barker Lounge once a week has transformed him into the most well-​socialized friendly dog! Anne is heaven sent! She truly cares about each and every dog that comes into her facility. Leo has some special needs (needs his wrinkles wiped, cannot have food with Wheat) and she takes great care of him! The facility is very clean and very dog friendly with the outdoor area for the dogs to play! Whenever someone mentions they are getting a dog I immediately go into a lecture of why there dog NEEDS the Barker Lounge from the start! I cringe at the the thought that people take there dogs to a kennel where there dog is locked up for the whole day and you need to pay extra for «play time» when your dog can come somewhere as wonderful as this place! I couldn’t trust anyone more with my special dog! Thanks Anne!
