I had no clue there was a LCS(local comic store) anywhere in my immediate area. Driving back from Vintage Vinyl on Record Store Day with nothing to show for it, I noticed the store front passing by. I made a u-turn to verify and decided to go in and give it a look. For slightly after noon on a Saturday, the place was packed in the two rear rooms with young and older gamers alike in a card tournament. I was pretty shocked since I didn’t think places like this existed anymore. I was more used to the local Jim Hanley’s Universe formerly next to Vintage Vinyl, which has been gone for ages now. Timezone must have had more of an emphasis on gaming in general before dipping into comics because the space dedicated to comics, while more prominent, seems smaller than other LCS’s. There is a small section for back issues, but most of one side of the store is comics. The other half of the front room is toys, vinyl Funko Pop figures, and gaming supplies. I was surprised with their cases of older Magic the Gathering cards(among other card games). Then again, I haven’t been in the loop for quite some time. There’s also a few shelves of retro video games that range from Atari 2600, NES& Sega Genesis to Xbox 360&PS3. The older the system, the less the selection. You can get a good price on a few items, but for the most part, you’re looking at about average eBay prices for most stuff. Even the last gen games are priced around what you’d pay at Gamestop. If you are searching for PS½ games missing from your collection, you may be interested, but they’re not surviving based on the video game section, so don’t expect much of a deal. Aside from that, Timezone is a decent comic shop which deals heavily with tabletop gaming. The store is easy to get to and the staff has always been helpful to me. It’s a great addition to the surrounding comic & gaming scene. Definitely worth a visit.
