Took the Mrs. and the kiddos. Great small little farmer’s market. Faves were Hummus Stop(got to try the black bean chipotle hummus), the Tamale stand, and there was a stand selling homemade brittle that was amazing. Fun little market. Perfect for a summer weeknight!

The mere fact that Forest Grove has a weekly farmer’s market for so many months of the year is worthy of a good review, but this one also happens to be quite good. Some things you can count on every week, like the excellent pupusa stand(it’s a bit of a wait for it, but it’s worth it!), at least one person selling some veggies, at least one local nonprofit with an info both, and the beer garden. Other weeks, there may be someone from Portland selling specialty hot sauce, or someone from somewhere selling some lovely jewelry. The first Wednesday of the month seems to be the best in terms of number of booths. I love that many of the food vendors have real dishes and cloth napkins, and when you are done with such, you return them to the recycle station, where volunteers prepare them to be cleaned. I noticed someone else on Unilocal complained about parking — there is always tons of parking at the corner of Main and 19th(gravel lot), just one block away! The nonprofit Adelante Mujeres has managed this farmer’s market since 2005, and part of the goal of the event is to provide an outlet for small farmers and food producers the nonprofit has helped incubate, as well as to bring different ethnic communities of Forest Grove together. How to improve it? More eggs! I can never find straight-from-the-farm eggs. I also wish they would sometimes have textiles or handicrafts from Mexico. And I wish they had a really great bread vendor — always fresh bread, made THAT day, and in a European style — and, at least once a month, a really great, affordable cheese vendor. Otherwise, it’s worth dropping by every week after work, at the very least.

This is your typical local small town farmer’s market. Food stands, crafts, local farms bringing in veggies and fruit. Nothing really stands out to me here. I live in FG, so it’s not too far of stretch to stroll through every week, you never know what you’ll find. Usually parking is the only concern, it may take a few trips around the block to find a good spot.
