David’s Natural Market

The reason I rated 3 stars:
–they have items that are hard to find (unless you drive all the way to Wegmans) so if you’re a foodie in the area this place has all your unique protein powders/​bars, baking & cooking needs!
–nice selection of humanely-​raised locally-​sourced animal products! This is the main reason I come here every week. I’m not an organic foodie but I just don’t settle for factory farmed animal products.
–I like coming here during times where grocery stores are busy, you don’t have to worry about long lines or lots of people.
Reason it is not 5 stars:
–It’s just really overpriced. The items you can find elsewhere, you can find at either grocery stores right down the street for 50−75% less. If I were an organic foodie, you would still save money traveling to Wegmans to get all of your needs.
–For being a chain, I’m very surprised they don’t have any type of club card that gives small discounts.

I have come to this store many times and they have a good selection of otherwise hard to find natural foods. They also have a selection of over priced common natural foods that you can buy at any grocery store (watch out for that). I really like the prepared foods section and that they offer bulk products. They layout of the store is kind of difficult to navigate if you’ve never been there before. The staff however is awful. They never greet you when you come in and are just rude in general. If there were another natural food store in the area I would go there but this is my only option. They also have virtually no local foods which is dissapointing. Overall, this place is good if you have no other option.

I totally freaked out when we left Baltimore City and I realized that Wegmans was now my closest store for gluten free and vegetarian goodies. I’m a total Whole Foods snob and the thought of going to Wegmans and dealing with aisles and aisles of crap just makes me sad. And then I found David’s…and what a treat. No crowds. No drama. Just everything I want and need all in a cute little conveniently located (to Bel Air) store. They accidentally forgot to give us the discounted price on vitamins

Stoped by today for the first time.
Prices are higher than in Wegmans but they have goodies Wegmans does not.
Pasture eggs and milk. The milk comes in glass 1 gallon bottles which you exchange later at the store and get $ 2 credit. They also have awesome pickles and goat milk.
I liked the store very much even with two not very happy girls at the register.
I think they preserve all their friendliness and good mood for the last customer.
Next time i’m going to visit them right before they close so they could release all their built up happiness on me :)

I visited for the first time today, and was purposefully ignore when I walked in. I felt like I was walking uninvited & unwelcomed into someone’s living room. The checker didn’t even look at me and only mumbled «hi» after I gave him a cheery «Hello!» If I’m going to spend almost double for food, you could at least *pretend* to want my business! There are enough people who need jobs, that I know this kind of «service» in uncalled for. I’ll be going to Wegmans or driving all the way to Trader Joe’s from now on!

Some of their prices are higher than they should be, but they have ready made vegan foods. Besides Wegmans, they are the only health conscious store in the area.

*Two stars may be generous.* Decent selection for a small natural grocer. Prices are about where one would expect for the scale they’re working on (higher than MOMs and Wegmans, maybe lower than Whole Foods). What I find most noticeable about this store in particular is the astonishing lack of customer service. I may get a «hello» when walking about the store and yet 90% of the time I make it to the register the cashier is occupied with another conversation (w/​coworkers) and fails to even greet me as they ring up my purchases. This is a huge mistake. Lots of people would be so turned off by this type of behavior that they would not return. I begrudgingly DO return because I want to support a small-​chain natural grocer. Not being noticed or appreciated for my business makes this a challenge. So much of retail is based in customer service. And without any adequate customer service to speak of (combined with only decent selection and prices) why SHOULD I return? Have some respect for your customers– they ARE paying your wages and acknowledging them will continue this pattern.
