I used to come here all the time for the best barbecue but not anymore! Peach cobbler was scrapped from the bottom but I was charged the regular price and as for the barbecue, not good and very dry! Save your money or go somewhere else!!!

Had the 2 meat plate, with brisket and ham and sides of potato salad and okra. Ham was pretty good, tender and not dry, brisket was dry, tough, no bark to speak of and not much flavor, more like roast beef. I guess it all depends on the cut of beef, seems they choose the wrong cut to serve. Okra was good, potato salad on a sweet side was OK. I like brisket the most and the best I’ve had so far here is Smokeys on Lancaster, its worth the trip.

Can’t really ‘review’ their food. Came here on a Saturday evening because as I was visiting Texas it was my #1 pick for bbq. Well… they ran out of ribs. I did buy all the remaining buttermilk pies though… DELICIOUS! oh my oh man. You can’t purchase a whole pie… guess you have to order it days in advance. but you can get like 6 pie slices so I guess that is a whole pie? IDK. Maybe next time.

Great ribs and tasty okra. Nicely buttered Texas toast. Brisket is smokey and def on the leaner side but still tasty. Pecan pie is tasty and cobbler is ok. Servers are helpful and take good care of the rest.

If you haven’t been here what the heck are you waiting on?!? The ribs are really good & the sliced brisket is too. Extremely friendly staff! Get there early or you will be waiting a while for your order.

Triple A. Awesome As Always! Kind of a hole in the wall place, in an old Dairy Queen. I had the brisket and sausage with fried okra and potato salad. A previous time that I had the okra, it seemed«different» than what most places serve, like maybe it was made and breaded/battered on-site. This time, it was more like what«most» restaurants serve. So, I suspect they changed vendors. or maybe the time before was a one-off day. *dunno* The potato salad had a sweetness to it, which was different. But, different in a good way — I liked it. Everything was good, but the brisket could’ve been warmer and I wish the smoked sausage hadn’t been quite so greasy. But, hey, it’s sausage. It’s gonna be greasy! :)

Good taste & tenderness in the brisket and nice smoke ring. Home style fries have tasty seasoning. No frills BBQ joint, which is a good thing.

This place was yummy and their portions are big. I came here for dinner and ordered a single meat plate with the sliced beef, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. And a slice of bread. Everything was delicious but I wish the food came out hot and wish the beef was softer. Since this place has a drive through I assume the food was already cooked rather than cook to order. You can Order By plate, or order by the pound. The plates are a good deal because it comes with 2 sides and they give a lot of meat. Customer service was on point. The staff was nice and friendly.

I have no idea at all why D magazine rated this the number 1 bbq place into the metroplex. This place was very overrated. The food was cold and just didn’t taste good at all. I drove an hour away to try this bbq. This was a huge let down. I wouldn’t recommend this to any true bbq lover. The service was good, the food just wasn’t.

I like their link and chopped beef sandwiches. But the sides are too small and not to mention the cashiers. They seem to always have an attitude. Overall the food is good just keep in mind that they aren’t so friendly.

Food was great the only thing was I ordered potato salad not mashed potato salad. Ribs where tender and fell off the bone.

This is one of my favorite BBQ place around work. Meat falls off the bone and the food is always great. I am never disappointed and love their potato salad. The drive through sometimes can be long, but the food is good so I definitely don’t mind. When we cater for work, I have never heard anyone complain about the food. Yum. We need more work lunches :)

When my friends and I get together we like to eat massive amounts of food every 2 – 3 hours. You know, to keep our metabolisms going. or something. Whenever we’re all back in town we hit up Off the Bone for insanely good ribs and giant baked potatos stuffed with various bbq’d meat, butter and cheese. Between the three of us we typically share a rack of ribs and a baked potato. The ribs are everyone’s favorite. They’re succulent, meaty and perfectly smokey. The baked potatoes are just delicious overkill. The sides are OK here but the meat is really the main show. I’m not a big fan of the sliced beef but the ribs and smoked turkey are great. Try the peach cobbler for a sweet treat at the end of your savory feast! I’d been searching for good ribs since my favorite place closed a few years ago and Off the Bone has continuously impressed! The name says it all!

My wife and I were looking for some classic, non-tourist pit BBQ in FW and we weren’t disappointed. Its off the beaten path and it has that used-to-be-a-gas station kind of esthetic(a little tired but clean) a drive through and a counter with indoor seating. Seating is first come-first served and you order at the counter. The menu is pretty big for a place there size, but it’s still focused on the BBQ. Meals come as Meat/side dinners, or any meat by the pound. We got a ½lb ribs(3 ribs), ½lb cut beef(brisket) and ½lb chopped beef with green beans and Mac and cheese. The staff is really helpful and smiley even with a Saturday night dinner rush. Everyone in the place, especially the other customers, seems really excited to be there, like kids drooling over presents on Christmas morning. Regulars flooded us with unsolicited recommendations for our«next time back» while we waited for our orders. It is that kind of place. The meals come on styrofoam plates with plastic ware and two slices of Texas toast per person, as they should. They have one sauce that hits right between sweet and savory. It’s clearly meant to be a crowd pleaser so If you’re a sauce snob you’ll be disappointed. However If you’re a meat over sauce person, you won’t go home sad. The brisket was tender and had a great crust, the chopped beef was incredibly flavorful(a bit overly smokey), and the rib meat fell off the bone. The only knock, and the reason for minus 1star, was the sides: Canned green beans and lack-luster Mac-n-cheese. We were told we should have gotten the potato salad but for all the effort they put into the meat, some fresh sides would really polish off the meal. I know sad sides are pretty much accepted with classic BBQ places like this, but it’s still not right. Despite the sides, we are coming back: Smoked sausages and chicken are calling our name. Maybe we’ll spring for the potato salad.

I will not eat at this place the food is not good only thing that was good was the 7 up cake. The first time I went there was a month ago I ordered a bologna sandwich how can you mess up a bologna sandwich then the second time I came there a chopped beef sandwich the beef sandwich and the bologna sandwich tastes like the lighter fluid that you put on a grill if that’s what you do but I would never come there again and this is the one that’s off of Mansfield in Forest Hill Texas.

Sauce was good. ribs were kinda dry for my taste. My daughter had the sausage and said it was too spicy for her and I would have to agree the spice way over powered the smoke/bbq flavor. I am very critcle of bbq because it is my favorite. This is not as good as hard eight in coppell area. The price was really good in my opinion. I also thought the people working were fast and friendly. The seating area reminded me of a fast food place so it was not that great if you are eating in. I would say this place is average. comparible to spring creek only bigger portions and a more fastfoodish atmosphere.

I stopped in today because I was in the Forest Hill area. The ribs were very tender and the hot links were good as well. The cole slaw has pineapples and raisins in it, which was different. However, the Mac and Cheese was on point. I will definitely return.

Off the Bone’s ribs are among the BEST I have ever tasted! I have eaten ribs all over Texas, Louisiana, Memphis, Alabama and yet Off the Bone ranks at the top! Go and eat the ribs with their amazing secret sauce and you will be a very happy camper. Arroz

I’ve been ruined by 2 or 3 of the really high end BBQ places within and surrounding the DFW area, but it ain’t keepin’ me from trying new(to me, anyway) places, and Off the Bone had some stuff that was really good in it’s own league. Went in the other day, first visit even though I drive by the place occasionally and have known about it for over a year or so. I just couldn’t remember it when it was convenient. But, I knew I was going to be over by them, so I just planned my lunch around it. First time in, that usually means to overdo it. I got a three meat plate so I could try out the ribs, brisket, and sausage. Decided on pinto beans and mac n cheese as sides. Plate comes out and whoa… three good sized ribs, 4 – 5 medium length slices of brisket and probably over half a link of sliced sausage. Good portions on the sides, and toast, and the plate looked like it was about to cave in. Huge amount of food here. Bottle of sauce on the table. Tried the ribs first, they were tender, came off the bone easily, not dry, but not real moist, great taste, really good. Had a pretty unique taste to them, must be using a rub maybe. The brisket… looked obviously lean,(sigh) and while it had a good smoke flavor to it, I just prefer moist and fatty stuff nowadays. The brisket had a little fat on it here and there, most looked rendered fine, and while I wouldn’t say it was dry, it wasn’t what I would call very moist. However, I’m more than willing to say a lot of people like lean, and a lot of places make it that way, and so be it. I don’t count off for that. It still tasted pretty good. The sausage was pretty good right from the start, but it tastes like it has a pretty good pepper seasoning, and it started to wear on me some. Once again, that’s a preference, it was cooked well and had a good, obvious smokiness to it, really good. I usually don’t care about the sides, or figure them into ratings, but the pinto beans and mac n cheese were pretty good. The beans had a little sweetness to them, which I don’t really go for, but were still good(just salt them things up a little), and the mac n cheese, while it looked like nothing special, was really good. It was kinda plain, but was good, I dunno how else to explain it. I ate most of my sides on this visit, and that usually doesn’t happen. I was beat, I left just a little sausage and brisket, but inhaled all the ribs. I even ate most of the toast for gawds sake. I did use a little of the sauce on the last few pieces of brisket and sausage. It’s a sweet sauce, it was good. Place serves up some good stuff overall. I think it’s one of the better places around town. Not high end, but basic down to earth good BBQ. I won’t hesitate to come back, but I’ll probably stick to mostly ribs and sides. The Dr Pepper outta the soda fountain was right on target, it tasted great, and made lunch even better. The people running the joint are friendly and service was good. My lunch with drink was just under $ 21 and two people could have easily split it. For a three meat plate it seemed priced just fine. One last observation, don’t be put off by the reviewers who talk like this place is in a bad neighborhood, or if you’re not a *ahem* certain ethnic class you should avoid it or go through the drive through. This wasn’t the case on my visit. Lot’s of mingling, lots of smiling, lots of all sorts of people coming in for good BBQ. While this area is old, the last few years I’ve been driving through it occasionally, along Riverside/Mansfield to 820 has been looking better. I see more store fronts getting tenants, and a lot less skeleton retail spaces. Off the Bone is maybe a block west of 820, you’re safe.
