Austin Cards N Such

Alas, THIS STORE IS CLOSED because of the high rents on Austin Street… I’ve posted a photo of the empty store, in memoriam.
Mister bought his gift boxes and cards from here for the past 20 years and laments their closing even more than I do. Sigh.

I would give it 5 stars but it is tiny and cramped. I have a contest going with my aunt who turned 100 on December 25^th 2009 who can find the prettier and most unique cards. She used to own a card store in Seattle. We have had this contest going for years. It is not such a bragging point to beat a 100 year old lady but hey at least I win at something.
There used to be unique card stores all over the city especially in the Village and on the upper West side. But there are very few left.
years ago I had a job in the area of this store. I found some great cards but once I left the job I did not go back much. Then the other card stores I would go to in Manhattan started vanishing one by one. I like cards with sparkles and crystals. I also like unique blank cards.
This is one of the few places that still carries unique cards in the 5 boros. They also have stickers and gifts. But their stock of cards is where they are unique.
It is a little out of the way but worth it.
