My wife and I decided to go here on our«kids are in school we are off for the week mini-date extravaganza.» We ordered the lagman soup, manty and lamb shish kebabs. All was very good and my particular favorite was the lamb shish kebabs. The noodles in the lagman are hand pulled.

The Lagman. Oh My Goodness. I’ve never had soup like this before! A delicious broth, meat, vegetables, chewy noodles — the four of us were passing the soup back and forth, fighting over the bowl! The Pumpkin mantu were better than the meat. The pickled veg platter was so interesting — red and green tomatoes, red and green cabbage, eggplant, 2 kinds of pickles. Very vinegary — I liked, my MIL didn’t love.

Café Arzu NY Queens Forest Hills 7:30pm Tuesday 20th October 2015 Four Stars Gastronauts. Uzbek food is the Malaysian of the Eastern Block. It’s a mashup of Russian, Kosher, Middle Eastern, with a splash of Asian. On the table waiting for us was four cold salads. The thinly sliced julienne carrots seemed simple but a subtle complex flavor. The carrots were crisp with a freshly brined pickle taste with hint of sweetness. The Eggplant was super soft and topped with red bell peppers, olive oil, and Parsley. The ripe tomato, small cucumber, and mild red onion was a very classic combination. The best was the potato and salad with mayonnaise with peas, carrots, and onions. The fresh bread had a crunchy outer layer. The inside was dense, with small air holes and decent amount of salt and sesame flavors. The Uygur Handmade Lagman is a Central Asian consisting of hand pulled noodles and various meat and vegetables. Here they served a spicy soup with onion, garlic, tomato sauce, and bell peppers. The noodles were chewy but delightfully hearty against the light broth. The Samsa or known more commonly as Samosa is another Asian, North African, or Middle Eastern food that consists of a flaky puff pastry filled with white gravy and beef similar to Stroganoff. They served it was a tomato based sauce. The Skewers served on long metal spikes were the best part. We enjoyed Veal Liver, Sweet Breads, Chicken Hearts, Lamb, and Lamb Ribs. Each were cooked with deliberation for temperature, texture, and seasoning. We then enjoyable Khaseep which was an unexplainable lamb kidney and fat sausage type dish. It was greasy with a masa-like texture. I enjoyed it but it’s definitely not for everyone. The final course was Plov which is similar to pilaf. It is a one pot rice dish that combines Lamb, Onions, Carrots, and Fat into an intensely filling meal. The meat was deeply flavored, tender but textured. The rice was fluffy but still plump with absorbing all of that delicious broth. Overall, the food was great.

Best spot For Lagman the best i‘ve ever tried home made noodles make a difference. ’ Kebobs Are Great Beef and Chicken are the best, lamb is also pretty good for lamb lovers. I come here every time i‘m in NY if you overcome the customer service that is lacking sometimes you will deff enjoy some authentic good Lagman and kebabs.

Tried three different kebabs on skewers.. The lamb. beef and chicken. Beef was the best. This place for some strange reason doesn’t serve any rice at all. Had to eat the kebabs with bread. And French fries. The waitresses are snotty and have attitude. But thank god the waitress I got was real nice and pleasant. Food was decent. Nothing worth mentioning. Place is stuck in the 80’s. they need to upgrade. Not a place to go back to .or take anyone with you. And .they only accept credit cards for a purchase of $ 20.and up.

The worst customer service experience in the area. «Back to USSR times» bad. The lady on the phone was so rude, I had to hang up not to ruin my mood for the evening. Never calling or ordering from here again. Stix Restaurant next door is the place to go. Never had a bad experience at Stix in the last 2yrs of weekly ordering. The only people who can possibly be Ok with Arzu’s service must be people who have been heavily drugged.

Used to be a great place with fast service — that all changed recently. It’s very slow service now and the waiters don’t care for customers. They need more staff on site and a host to greet people for seating. Parking is very tough as well. Valet parking would be a great idea. As far as food goes it’s still good.

Food sucks here. We ordered take out, the worse presentation ever. When I called back, the idiot asked me to save the food and bring following day so they can inspect.

The restaurant is a very ethnic place for the local bukharian people. It’s not popular with just random people. In fact, if you are a foreigner, be prepared to get strange stares from the local population as if you are a freak. It’s almost as if you are walking into another country. I took my friends here, just regular white American folk and they instantly felt uncomfortable with the staring. Keep in mind it is a Kosher restaurant. So you will see some yamulkes there. But it’s a great place with good fresh food. The lagman was great. Kebabs were delicious. French fries with fresh garlic was tasty. Service was good, but although I speak some Russian, I recommend going with someone who speaks it natively.

Salad, Lagman, grilled lamb and manti were all very hearty and delicious, exactly what I expected from Café Arzu. I love that meaty flavor of lamb/mutton, it tastes like I am back in Mongolia. I was pretty disappointed they didn’t have plov when I went. I guess I’ll have to satisfy my craving for plov at one of the other Central Asian eateries nearby.

Coming here regularly for years, they got the best lagman soup in town and the beef kabobs taste so good a little too good that it makes you wonder what’s thier secret. Didn’t like the mantee just being honest. Everything else is amazing.

FYI, their hours are: Sun-Thu: 11:30am-10pm Fri: 11:30am-5pm Sat: 5pm-11pm The service is not the best here, but the food is pretty good. I love the carrot salad and the fresh salad! The kebabs are also super yummy! My favorites are the chicken, lamb, ground lamb, ground beef and beef. A friend of mine highly recommends the lamb ribs, but they ran out of the lamb ribs the day we went! Will definitely try that next time! The price per kebab is not bad, but you’ll definitely need to order a few of each for everyone to share. The bill will probably end up being around $ 20 per person for everyone to be full. Unless you’re eating with me, then it’ll be $ 40 per person. Nomnomnom.
