A very nice family-run business, husband and wife(and sometimes son) — very good people. Good wine selection.

Sam Wine is conveniently located near the Union Turnpike E/F lines and directly in front of the bus stop — thus perfectly suited for a routine re-stocking en route to the grocery store. I cannot speak for the wine selection as I go strictly for the bourbon. The owner and his wife are always be friendly and helpful, while — as noted by another reviewer — not«clingy» or likely to follow you around, letting you browse at your leisure. Additional perk: from what I’ve observed they also host occasional tastings of new liquor or wine on Fridays during the summer.

They are very helpful, but don’t stalk you around the store. Plus they usually have sales like 2 for $ 10 on the wines, which are surprisingly taste. Whenever I’m headed to Champs(it’s BYOB) down the street I stop here first.

Great location, pretty good prices on some of their items. Sutter Home White Zinfandel is o. d cheap over here. It’s right next to the Union Turnpike/Kew Gardens E, F train station. They have a decent variety and brands. I usually go there for pint size stuff or shooters. The one thing I don’t like is how the owner stares at you like a hawk as if you’re gonna steal something. I just don’t feel welcomed when I’m purchasing liquor here.

Came here after work to buy a bottle of champagne for my dad’s birthday party and the nice(and handsome!) man in the store recommended Moët nectar imperial based on what I’ve tried and liked and it was an absolute hit. Perhaps it is cheaper elsewhere but they sell it for over $ 10 less than what the Moët website lists(And they have it chilled too). Good service, acceptable price and great recommendation? I call it a win.

Good stuff. A solid choice to get the most booze for boo with your bucks. My boo and I dropped by this store after our trip to the Corn Maze at the Queens County Farm and it was well after dark. We remember we were in need of more libations and that sometimes stuff in the outer boroughs can be cheaper so we decided to hit up one of these stores before hopping on the subway to Manhattan. The area was pretty desolate and there weren’t many people wandering the streets. All of the stores around here looked closed or about to close, so if you have a fear of crime, you might want to avoid this area. I didn’t really think it was that big of a deal, but I really don’t know any better. The store wasn’t all that nice, but they do have a nice selection of liquors and wines. I’d say their liquor prices were pretty competitive — they’re cheaper than in Manhattan. For instance a 1.75 L handle of Bacardi was $ 24. I’ve seen 750 ml bottles of bacardi go for $ 22 in Manhattan. It’s still worth buying the(relatively) expensive bottle because«it’s cheaper than buying it at da club» where a single drink can run you like $ 15 for crappy rail liquor. I’m guessing they deal with a lot of riff raff because most of the liquor was behind the counter and you have to ask the owners to grab your bottles for you.

My review below has NOTHING to do with how once me and my wife needed them to call the police because a drunk was trying to stab us, and how they locked their door and refused to get involved, and pretended they didn’t have a phone. NOTHING. Anyway, I don’t know where they get their stuff, but even the most premium bottle, like a Château Petrus somehow tastes like apple juice to me. Once we splurged on a bottle from Cote Rotie, Rhôné and it tasted like a bottle from Le Cat Ranch, Rhode Island. I’m not sure if the shabby tasting bottles their distributers send them has anything to do with almost being stabbed due to them pretending they only had a telegraph machine, but I thought it was very important to put this out there nonetheless. There are a LOT of liquor stores on Queens Blvd that somehow pass the very low moral threshold society expects of a liquor store: Have Lights + Sell to Children only indirectly. And from my personal experience, the others have better wine. But me, my wife, and the stabbing man, must admit that their moonshine is very effective.

I visit this store strictly for the dark«succumb to your vice here» look of the place. It’s perfectly fine for the hard stuff but I prefer Queensbury, down further on Queens Boulevard, for wine.
