Awful customer service. Made an appointment earlier in the day. Came to my appointment and the receptionist acted like she had never seen me before. It had only been 2 hours! Waited 30 min after appointment to ask what the hold up was. Was put in a chair immediately after than waited another 10 min and still no one had come. Ended up leaving. Tons of hair salons in the area. Will take my business somewhere else.

Definitely see DEANNA for color and cut. I followed her from Chrysalis in Glendale a year ago and no one else has touched my hair ever since. She actually listens to what you want and gives it to you in a way that works for you. Since seeing Deanna, I constantly get compliments on my hair and it’s all thanks to her. For reference, I have naturally thick black Asian hair and people have thought I was a natural blonde(from behind of course.) Thank you Deanna!

I was a client at Crysalis Salon and it closed unfortunately. I am so happy to say my favorite hair dresser is working here now and I’m so impressed with the salon and location. First of all Deana Caruso is hands down the best and now she’s at this amazing location. Great environment and lovely staff! Quick service and exactly what you want. You’re not talked into anything you don’t want. Very happy

I’d give a high rating to the women who work there, but the owner, Inna, is nasty, rude, and cheap. i remember being there last winter when she was too cheap to fix the hot water heater and had my shampoo with freezing cold water. although the women tried to conceal the truth, the real truth is that she didn’t want to pay the money for the repair. i was told that by people who work there. when you ask her a question she is very rude. i now understand why so many of my friends have left that establishment. i will, too.

I have been getting a haircut from Margarita for the past 10 years. When I had long hair she used to do amazing blow outs and updos which I always got complimented on. Now I have a very short hair cut and she continues to do an amazing job. She always listens to what I want done and does exactly what is asked because I am very specific about my hair and detailed. Besides from being a great hair dresser she is an amazing person to talk to and have a few laughs while she pampers you. No question Margarita is the best in the salon and I always recommend her to all of my friends.

Terrible place. Just finished getting my haircut here. Don’t bother. When I got done with my haircut the hairstylist, Sasha, who had just been cutting my hair looked at me and said, «this isn’t you.» She also completely refused to give me what I asked for. Completely disappointed, complete waste of money and time. Now I have to wait for my hair to grow out before I can get it fixed. My hairstylist was too busy looking at at friends Facebook to bother doing her job. TERRIBLE.

I haven’t visited this salon in a while because of my schedule and its location but I find the staff when I do go to be very nice. I appreciate the fact that they don’t endlessly babble nonsense and focus on the services they are providing, which are always worth the travel. So far I’ve gone to them for manicures pedicures eyelash extensions massages threading and waxing. I plan to schedule an appointment soon for coloring and waxing. I’ve never used them as a hair salon before so I’m hoping my hair will be in good hands.

Did the exact opposite of what I asked for immediately after asking and tried to justify afterwards. Irreparable damage that will take half a year to grow back out. I hate writing things like this but i basically walked out with a mullet and I am very frustrated. Re-installed Unilocal just to post. Many other places in area, check them out first. Good luck.

I’d give them 0 if that was an option, 1 is too good for this place. Let’s start off with walking in with dark brown hair wanting highlights, show the woman a picture she says I can do it but it’s going to take time. Now I will call them thieves and liars because if you can’t do something knowing from the start don’t do it! Bleached my entire head of hair 3 times, so basically ruining my hair. I had lower back length hair when I walked out of there I had orange hair that was almost up to my chin. As she was«cutting» it was basically falling off. Took $ 300 for this chop shop job I could’ve done at home with a bottle of clorox. took 2 years for my hair to grow back healthy. So thanks spectrym for stealing people’s hard earned money to do low quality jobs and allowing your customers to walk out looking like crap!

I got my hair done for a wedding. Didn’t come out quite how I wanted it but it was great that they are open so early on Sunday’s.

I love this salon. It’s a true one stop shop for beauty and relaxation. I originally started coming here in the ‘90s. I worked at a florist on the same block so it was rather convenient. Obviously over the years trends change and as always trends in hair and makeup come and go. What I find amazing about this particular ownership which has been taken over by numerous people before who were also good but I find that Inna and her sisters are amazing. They stay on top of the everchanging trends in hair from extensions to updos. The other hairdressers working there have been there for years, which says a lot about a place and stability. Lisa is one that I have used when I underwent an extreme change from long to very short… she not only did a great job but also questioned me on if I was ready for it. She has gifted hands if you have curly hair. Inna, aside from doing great up-dos, cutting, blowing, etc, she also does eyelashes and makeup. I love getting lashes if I have something going on… oh, the glamour! Not kidding, I know when I step out of here I am looking good and feeling good. Upstairs is a new world. I have had, facials, massages,(OMG) so relaxing. I have gotten manicures, pedicures, waxing and they also do the best permanent makeup. See Angela for that, she does great brows. I have never had a bad experience here. So if you need to feel good or have an occassion and you find yourself on Austin Street, this is neighborhood salon that has been around the longest. And trust me, there are like 12 per block. this is the place.

I am blown away by the negative reviews I have just read. Is this the same place I have had the pleasure to be going to every 6 weeks for the past 20+ years? I love the staff at Spectrym. Nanette has been coloring and cutting my hair since I started working in the neighborhood in the 1980’s. She colors, highlights and cuts my hair exactly to my specifications. I get so many compliments on my hair, too! I now live in Manhattan and work in the Bronx and I make the trip into Forest Hills because I could never go anywhere else. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The salon itself is pretty and clean and there is always coffee available for everyone. In over 20 years, I have never left there disappointed.

It was my first time in Spectrym salon. I was on Austin street and I saw a walk-in welcome salon. I went inside because I had to get a hair cut. The receptionist was very nice and polite. She took care of me very nicely and they showed a lot of hospitality. They offered my tea and coffee. All in all it was very great service and the girl that gave me the haircut knew what she was doing. Great haircut, great service, i recommend Spectrym salon.

I get my hair cut by Paola and she’s really great with my long, straight layered haircut. Very consistent. A little pricey, but worth it.

There is light at the spectrum end of a turbulent storm! This was my third attempt all back-to-back on the same day as a walk-in client for a measly simple hair cut. I do not have an appointment when I walked in. Without knowing the craftsmanship work quality or their prices and with the added pressure of time plus the smell of sheer desperation I need to get a hair cut that I forgo my budget. The front desk receptionist was friendly and welcoming with sincere understanding and humane compassion. Yes, I begged to be seated and to be taken in by a hair stylist. Erik, my assigned hair stylist kindly took me into his seat to cut my hair and styled it with curls. Despite of my somewhat indecisiveness, Erik listened and gave me a sexy chic look which I love. At an utter shocking $ 62.70 for cut and style(including sales tax), given my dire circumstances, I had no choice but to eat the phenomenal cost. Spectrym does not appear extremely busy unlike other nearby competitor hair salons and are honest to be sincere valuing clients’ time. The hair salon is clean with a warm environment. They have a spa in the upper level where my hectic life is long overdue for a full body massage.

Spectrym and specifically NATALIE get no stars. Horrible experience. Lack of attention. Just get it over with kinda service. Overcharged with absolutely poor results. Total disappointment. Unprofessional. Thumbs down. I’m forced to give a star but Spectrym should be put out of business.

Please do not go here. The worse hair salon in Forest Hills. Robert burnt my hair and my other friend went there as well and they messed up her hair. She was crying to them and they still made her pay. My ladies, please keep away from this place. I am serious. Go to Astoria, ENVEE. Its excellent.

I went to Spectrym once for highlights as a poor college student and never returned. I ended up with peroxide blond, dried out road stripes throughout my very long hair that I had always worked so hard to keep healthy. I didn’t have the time to return to the salon and get it corrected(plus, I was now traumatized to have them come near my hair), nor the money to go elsewhere to have it fixed. The best way that I can describe what I ended up with is that it looked as if I had taken those clip on, half inch wide colored hair extensions in white and clipped them in 7 uneven sections around my part. It was really embarrassing, as I had gone in asking for a natural look. I got back to school and people were saying«Wow, I like your hair… funky!!» Ugh. I felt like I was wearing a skunk fur on my head.

Worst haircut ever(or a close tie with the Aveda salon at Queens Center Mall) complete with a high pressure sales pitch! I asked for one thing and the hairstylist gave me the complete opposite. It was cheap though, I think under $ 50. The guy styling my hair really didn’t know how to work with my texture and he kept pushing to sell me the Brazilian hair straightener. No thank you.
