Food is mediocre but the service is horrible. Food doesn’t have much taste to it. They are not accommodating at all. the manager has a nasty attitude. Enough of the service. There are plenty of other Turkish places in the area that are far better and tasteful.

Overall the food was good(spinach-cheese pie was awesome) and I got the chicken kebab dish with yogurt but… some of the pieces of chicken were not cooked fully. So that was a huge disappointment considering the service was good and I had hoped this would become a go-to spot for me.

My husband and I went this afternoon, we order the spinach and feta cheese burek, unfotunately the burek had more cheese than spinach, but the good news is that I loved it. If you like cheese, you will like this appetizer! Then I had the diced shish lamp which was served between 2 pices of bread some onions and spices and 1 grilled tomato and a grilled hot chilli. The chilli was extremely hot!!! The food tasted good, I wish there was rice instead of bread. My husband had the same only instead of diced lamb, he had a minced meat kebabs. The Ayran drink taste good, its a sort of savoury yogurt that is bit liquidy. That really helped calming the burning sensation from the chillis. We went around 4pm the restaurant was empty. I cant tell if its empty all the time or busy. The service was great. The waitress was very friendly. One thing though, I heard the bip bip of the microwave many times… Made me think probably since there was no one the chef just had things prepared already and warmed it in the microwave!!! Might go back again and try the restaurant at night and see…

I go here for the starters, especially the eggplant with tomato and stuffed eggplant. Their bread is the best I’ve had at a turkish place. I’m not a fan of anything they put in yogurt, nor how they spice their meats, but their fish/seafood is well done.

I discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago when a group of friends I grew up with chose this for our annual meeting place. This is a Turkish restaurant that has similar dishes to most Mediterranean restaurants. We have had many appetizers and main dishes shared. The eggplant, artichoke, appetizers delicious to name just a couple. Main dishes… shrimp dish, Kebobs, etc… all very good. This is also a BYOB if you want. The atmosphere is very plain which is fine with me. Service is excellent and they do not rush you which is great when we have a get together for our annual visit. I would try anything on this menu if it interests your taste buds as all dishes I have had here are delish! Price is right too.

Taci’s Beyti is my favorite Turkish restaurant in Brooklyn and to have a Taci’s in Queens is nothing short of a blessing. Taci’s Turkish food is the gold standard of Turkish food. I’ve ate at a few Turkish restaurants in the city and cannot stand the overpriced menus and lack of flavor found in this Manhattan«hotspots». I think any food connoisseur will agree that Queens is definitely the borough to be in for food from all parts of the world. Anyway, back to Taci’s. I was seated tonight quickly and I knew exactly what I was ordering. Taci’s go to item is the ISKENDER kebab. Any native TURK will tell you how amazing this dish is. Of course, you can go with the basic chicken yadda, yadda, yadda but you can have chicken kebabs any day! Do yourself a favor and try the Iskender. It is fresh lamb drizzled with a hot tomato type sauce over a yogurt(probably cacik) base and pita slices. The flavors are harmonious and I’ll be impressed if you can finish this dish. The staff was very attentive and came over multiple times to refill water and make sure we were okay. There is a refreshing deliciousness in their food that I don’t seem to get when I eat at other turkish/meditteranean type restaurants. I’m used to foods with a lot of spices and herbs and am happy Taci’s food doesn’t fall into the bland category. To top off the night, the house gave us free dessert and chai. That is such a kind gesture. I’m proud to patron such a wonderful restaurant and recommend it to family and friends. But the best part is… the food is HALAL. allhumdullilah. What a blessing indeed to be able to enjoy all sorts of cuisines in New York that are from various countries around the world and halal! Enjoy!(You can thank me later about the Iskender)

BYOB. This is a good value restaurant where you can dine weekly. Basic Turkish menu includes chicken, lamb, shrimp and fish and baked bread specialties. The shepard salad with feta cheese is excellent. Our two entrees and appetizers were tasty. We will definitely come back and bring friends. Tables have silverware, cloth napkins and tablecloths. Affordable dining experience. Roomy. Good service, friendly and welcoming to diverse group of diners, including families with young children.

This was my second and last visit here. I initially came alone to try it out and the food was decent. There was no wait as it was a weeknight with few other patrons. Second time, decided to entertain guests here which was a huge mistake. It was very crowded on a Friday night, 4 kids under 10 running around, yelling and the whole place was just super noisy. The wait staff were useless completely. The guy answered all my questions very patronizingly. I think the female owner was the only one who cared. The food came quickly and was smaller then I remember. Cherry on top, they charged 15% gratuity on a 3 person meal and added phantom sides we never ordered. I’ve never seen such a thing. Needless to say, I did not initially notice the extra $ 5 they charged but thankfully it will be the last business they’ll ever see from me.

I had a pretty good experience here. The staff was very helpful and answered all the questions I had about the menu. The hummus and salad was delicious! And we got the mixed grill. The beef was cooked so well, medium, like how it should be cooked. And we got one piece of lamb which was amazing. I think if I come back I’ll just get the lamb, and I’m very very picky with my lamb. All in all good place to eat.

Came across this place with out of luck. All halal delicious and well seasoned authentic Turkish cuisine. Good service and nice atmosphere. *Must have the hummus with beef pastrami on the hot appetizer section.* A true Gem in this neighborhood. Definitely will come back.

there’s a slew of places here in Forest Hills that I always say«we should go try them out» and we simply forget to. well, that list is slowly being whittled away. we started off with a salad that the waitress suggested. cucumber, tomato, onion, feta, olive oil, and citrus. fresh, crisp veggies and flavors; in the spirit of Seinfeld this would definitely qualify as a «big salad» — in fact, the two of us made a dent in it but did not finish. I was a fan. sopped up some of the liquid with the warm bread that was brought out. while my wife ordered the chicken kebab platter over warmed yogurt and pita pieces, I opted for the lamb version of this. the lamb was tender, smoky, well-seasoned, and wonderfully flavored. I felt there was a bit too much yogurt, though, which made the lamb a bit soggier than I hoped. still, the crunchy pita bits were a nice touch. portion size and price were on point. for dessert, I splurged on some Turkish coffee and baklava. the coffee was great(right amount of foam and bitterness — I confess to adding just a tiny bit of sugar, perhaps half a teaspoon), and so was the baklava. not the soggy type that’s overloaded with honey/syrup and falls apart. atmosphere was comfortable, but fairly basic. Turkish pop music kept a lively mood. the staff seemed friendly albeit a bit harried, though it wasn’t that packed. there was a family party going on towards the back, and I believe they BYOB’d it here. interesting! I’d come back.

Excellent food and service and the cherry on top is the fact that it’s BYOB! My husband and I are regulars here, and we always order the shepherd’s salad with feta. The vegetables are so fresh and we have no problem polishing off a large salad between the two of us. We also usually order the yogurt chicken kebab and the lamb. We’ve tried a lot of other things off the menu and have never been disappointed. The desserts are also amazing. We often recruit our friends and family, and everyone loves it. The service is also great. The owner’s daughter is almost always there, and is very friendly and attentive. This is a perfect spot for a low-key, high quality dinner in Queens at a reasonable price. This place is an A+.

Amped for our upcoming adventures in Kusadasi, we decided to have lunch at Taci’s last Sunday. The waitress seemed to be a bit on edge, and not just with us, but with everybody who walked through the door. Regardless, she made some good recommendations, including a salad that reminded me of Israeli salad(though not chopped as finely) which was primarily cubed cucumber, onion, and tomato tossed with feta cheese, lemon juice, and olive oil. As my entrée, I had the chicken kebab over warm yogurt and croûton-like pita nuggets. Although the yogurt seemed a little excessive and I would have preferred more of the peppers and tomatoes the kebab came with, it was a tasty lunch. I would not mind returning but the atmosphere and attitude were not up to my expectations. I always enjoy Turkish food but would prioritize Antalia and Beyoglu(both in Manhattan), and some of the establishments in Astoria that I have tried. Oh, and 89 days until we leave for our Eastern Mediterranean voyage.

I really wanted to like this place but one waitress made me never want to go back there. Not professional. The waitress literally gave me a smart answer after we had been waiting for our food for almost an hour saying, «umm yeah… did you order an appetizer? No? It’s because you didn’t order an appetizer,(points at table next to us) well they ordered an appetizer and they don’t have to wait as long… Also it takes a while to make your food.»…I was appalled. I would’ve accepted an apology like anyone who is trained in customer service would do. And people do not need to order appetizers if they don’t want to! She made it sound like that would’ve been the smarter thing to do. 2 stars because the karisik pide was good. I had dinner here, people were walking in after our party of three and being served before us. The guy server was alright, had some small talk which was nice and took our order’s pretty quickly but it was the wait to get our actual food that took almost an hour! The food was alright but nothing blew me away, my fiancé had the karisik pide and that was better that our donor and adana kebab which were good but flooded in yogurt and no rice was included. Good service does WONDERS. End rant.

During a previous job, the television was always set to CNBC. One of the many interesting commercials to liven up the market tedium(besides la grand prospect hall) was for a livery company that featured a man trying to hail a taxi, with increasing frustration before he repeatedly yells«TAXI!!!’. Taci.Taci.TACI’s!!! Good, that is out of my system. A Brooklyn export, with the same owner as Taci’s Beyti, this branch is found on Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills. For those brave enough to leave other boroughs, no passport is required, no checkpoint charlie to smuggle goods past, just be aware that no subway line is immediately present to deposit you. But if you’ve taken the F or E to 71st Continental you can hop on a Q23 bus that you will take you to Metropolitan in about 10 minutes. The walk is about 20 from the subway stop and through a lovely semi-suburban area of houses, some with actual lawns. Metropolitan Avenue is quickly affirming it’s spot as Forest Hills’ restaurant row perhaps due to economic reality: the rents on Austin Street are probably too damn high. On a stretch that features the Unilocaler favorite Wafa’s, old school German at Chalet Alpina and a church experience at Alberto’s, enter Taci’s Turkish. We entered on New Year’s day, seeking sanctuary from the cold and satisfaction for our hunger. The space isn’t huge but there’s enough room to feel comfortable based on table spacing ratios. A counter houses various desserts and take out service. There is so much that I want to try here that my choices, in retrospect, seem far too pedestrian and safe. I started with the spinach borek: fried phyllo dough stuffed with spinach, onion and cheese. No grease is always pleasing to the tastebuds. The proportion of spinach to cheese was on the ligher side but the cheese more than compensated. There was plenty ofphyllo dough stuffing to keep me happy. I’m not usually a soda drinker, preferring to acquire calories from alcohol or dessert. But when given a chance to order ‘turkish soda’ I had to reach for the carbonation in this case, a can of gazoz. Gazoz was described by the waiter as being closer to the Sprite family of soda than colas and he was right. It also had a quasi-bubble gum flavor that the experience worthwhile. I may like the sprite in you but the Gazoz was unique. New Year’s resolution: return to try the pastrami appetizer, which is described as flavored with cumin, garlic and paprika. New Year’s resolution two: eat healthier most of the time so I can indulge in the aforementioned resolution. So the entrée I opted for was chicken kebab with yogurt and I was not disappointed by the flavors, portion size and price.(About $ 12) My only disappointment was that the entrée did not come with any accompaniments or sides: a pita or rice would have been nice. My wife observed the same absence in her entrée so we ordered a side of rice to split.(Long grain and buttery!) The sturdy slices of chicken, when draped in warm yogurt, provided plenty of edible excitement. What wasn’t exciting was the unusually indifferent service. No hello, happy new year or even much eye contact from the waiter during the initial seating. We considered ordering dessert but gave up since we didn’t want to experience a long wait time like the type we just finished with after our entrees were completed. Now there was a larger party present and only one waiter at the time so that may explain some of the delay but that doesn’t explain the aloofness in the beginning. But that’s water under the bridge, gazoz under the Galata, as I have every desire to return and sample the other items on the menu. I’ll gladly experience the flaunting of social graces in order to have another bite of chicken kebab and sip of gazoz.

Always willing to try new things, I ventured in to Taci’s with my buddy A. We ordered the Pan fried Calf liver cubes, Tripe soup(Iskembe), Mixed grill, Lahmacun(lamb pizza). The food was excellent and staff was very friendly. In fact, our waitress was beyond helpful in giving us pointers on how best to enjoy the foods(how to use the sauces, vinaigrettes, pairings). Metropolitan Ave has always been Forest Hill’s best kept secret when it comes to niche ethnic foods, and Taci’s is right at home.
