This kind of business establishment is so important. Rather than big companies that supply mass amounts of merchandise and list them at inflated costs, American Artworks Gallery supports local shopping. Shopping local is so important because it keeps the arts alive. It keeps creativity burning, and helps support independent artists who are just trying to make art and share it with others. American Artworks Gallery has over 65 artists that create new objects for the shop every day! Their inventory is always changing, so you have to make it a point to come back and visit often. I bought a sweet«earthy» tank top here, and have gotten tons of compliments on it already! Of course, I could have scooped up tons of other cool items if I didn’t set a budget for myself. I was enamored by the beautiful hand-knit scarves, handmade purses, and paintings that were sporadically placed throughout the store. The prices are more than fair here, and what’s beautiful about it is that your money helps support people like you and me, and provides them with support to carry on their business of creating. Every purchase you make truly moves mountains for others. That’s why this store is on my favorites list, and I’ll keep stopping back in the future.

I don’t understand how I lived in Forest Park for 4 years and never wandered into this place. I have 1 word — AMAZING. This place is fantastic and so is the owner. She is super impressive with knowing every detail about each one of her products(and that is impressive when she has a huge store full of goodies). Everything in her shop is hand made by 9 or so local artists. You can find anything from jewelry, soaps and lotions, artwork, terrariums(which I had to splurge and buy one because they look fantastic), and clothing. One thing I really have to say about this shop is that it’s affordable. Unlike some of the other shops on Madison that charge an arm and a leg for fun trinkets and locally made items, American Artworks makes sure that the products are affordable for everyone. She even has a small backroom with discount items that are SUPER cheap. I can’t stress enough how much this place rocks. Probably the most ideal for gifts, and people who are into different and abstract styles and looks. I am most definitely a fan and I wish I had a million dollars(or more… ideally hah!) to buy out this store and own everything in it… maybe minus the beard oil and wax because I’m not quite sure what I would do with that. :) Enjoy Unilocalers!

Great addition to Madison street strip in Forest Park. Sells works of art and other objects made by local artists. The artists take turns working at the shop and are really nice and friendly. They have ongoing events such as a book club.
