This is my favorite store in the Chicago area. Jeanine and her husband are friendly, approachable — and Jeanine has out-of-this-world beautiful and creative taste. Her big and small prints are dramatic, unusual and classic. This is a great place to buy presents for people you love — and there are elegant luxury items like candles and linens for people you don’t know as well but want to get something special for. The clothing store now in the front of Jeanine’s shop is also lovely with interesting jewelry.

This is one of the more outstanding new additions to the FP shopping scene. The store is a shared space with a clothing/accessories vendor in the front and Etcetera in the back and basement. The layout is actually quite inviting and well decorated. This store has anything and everything that you may need for unique decorating. Everything from furniture, rugs, paintings, pillows, kitchen utensils, etc. The taste runs more towards industrial modern but there are many styles of items available. There is a mix of new and antique items, as well as some more unusual international items like african headdresses. The shop owner is very friendly but not intrusive. I really enjoyed browsing her selection. The items generally run on the expensive side(but not outrageous), but thats what you get when you shop at a well-curated boutique venue with many one-off items. This shop is definitely worth a look.

I found this store completely by chance walking down the street on the way to a near by antique store. I saw an item(large planter) in the window that caught my eye, so I detoured into the shop. I walked in and thought oh this is mainly clothes. Imagine my surprise when I asked a question on price and found out the items in the window and in the front that were home décor belonged to a store owner in the back. The backroom had a wonderful variety of things new and old and some just whimsical. They also had a basement with additional items and some fun antique pieces. I enjoyed looking at a lot of unique items in the back room and chatting with the owner she is a delightful women not to be missed. I ended up buying four shelves that they had in the front of the store and the owner and her husband were so helpful and friendly it was truly a wonderful experience(and yes even before they knew I wanted the shelves ;). I asked some questions about what they felt the best way to secure them were and they were happy to share their experience. Never once did I feel like I was taking their time. In my opinion that is the sign of a WONDERFUL Shop Owners. I even got to chat with the husband a bit about his birthday dinner plans and some other dining experiences they have had, that’s how casual and friendly they were. A complete pleasure… I will make sure that this store is on my list of places to pop into whenever I’m in that area. If you haven’t been down that street for a while please do lots of fun stores that have a variety of things, and we should all support locally owned businesses. I truly enjoyed my Saturday walk along Madison St in Forest Park. This store and the owners were the icing on the cake.

I feel like I should be able to say more about this store, but here’s what I can come up with at the moment… This is an interesting store, I enjoy walking around even if I know I’m only there to look. They recently redid their inventory — though I didn’t really think it is all that different than it was before. They carry great unique items like the Mullaniun Birds and clocks/furnitre by Luna Bella and of course the work of Jeanine Guncheon. The woman who is usually working when I go in(I’m pretty sure she’s not the owner) is very friendly and nice to chat with. If you’re in the area — stop in!

If you have not visited Jeanine’s store, you are missing out! SHe has such great taste! Everything in the store is unique and hand made. She supports and promotes artists, including herself. I just bought a rug from her and it is perfect! She is a one of a kind artist and totally worth the visit!

Walking into Gallery Etcetera, your eyes keep telling your brain«ooh, I want this,» which is not a good thing if you have a spending problem, but otherwise is considered a desirable trait in a retail store. Owner Jeanine Guncheon has a delightful store(it’s not exactly what I would call a «gallery,» but whatevs) full of lovely things to decorate your home or yourself. I was guided here by my friend Janel, who has the most delicious rug in her living room — this is where she got it.
